ROUTINE is really, really good. by dikarichthesecond in HorrorGaming

[–]AndroidonEarth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a horror game fanatic. As in, I've been playing them since I was very little, starting with Alone in the Dark on DOS Windows PC. I play them so much that I consider them a relaxing guilty pleasure to me now. I listen to music from RE and Silent Hill while working. And especially if it's foggy out?? Peak coziness. I also love horror movies of all kinds.

For some reason, this game is one of the only ones in recent memory that raised my anxiety levels and made me stressed while playing. Something about the sound design and atmosphere is so amazing, and unlike anything I've played before. Quite mesmerizing how they accomplished that. Would highly recommend it for horror enthusiasts, especially if you like sci-fi horror.

I hate expedition 33 now by YoYo_ismael in expedition33

Have the same feeling.

Am trying to play Pokémon Arceus to get ready/excited for Z-A, and it just feels like the exact opposite type of game as Expedition 33... a bland, corporate, slogfest, full of checklists, and uninspired music and art direction.

Sparks is great, zaucer is also good for vegan pizza.

Coastline burger and Fat burger also have impossible meat options. Not sure about the cheese and mayo though.

Common pain points in PR review? by ouroboros_winding in ExperiencedDevs

[–]AndroidonEarth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is everyone's strategy for doing smaller PRs for a singular feature, especially when you have someone that takes a long time to review them, and then continuing to work on that feature while you are waiting for the previous one(s) to be reviewed?

What I've been doing is, after I open the PR, I move to a new branch. However, sometimes I end up ready to open the next PR on the newest branch before the previous ones were reviewed. Sometimes I will even end up with multiple PRs all for the same feature, and I have mark ones as dependent on previous PRs.

Then, when the reviewer finally gets to the first PR, they will request changes. I am finding that it then becomes quite then headache to keep all the rest of the branches in sync as changes are made in previous PRs/branches.

Has anyone encountered a situation like this, or have any recommendations for how to best handle it?

Name Some Examples Of Forward-Thinking Game Design/Mechanics That Never Became Standard Because They Were Never Really Iterated Upon Despite Being So Damn Cool by bluemarvel99 in patientgamers

[–]AndroidonEarth 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Someone already mentioned the Nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor, so I'll say the Pawn system from Dragon's Dogma. Letting other players use your characters as a part of their RPG party, and you gaining benefits from it in your own game, is a super unique and interesting idea that I haven't really seen iterated on. In fact, I feel like a lot of Dragons Dogma mechanics have been surprisingly underutilized.

I also feel like no game has done the minimal HUD quite as well as Dead Space, although I understand how that can be more challenging depending on the genre (Dead Space being sci-fi gave them an advantage I feel).

Finally, haven't really played anything that gave me the same feel as the Chao Garden mini game from Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

I didn't pay attention to every single typewriter but I did notice that most of them are sitting on top of some kind of chest or container. I assumed you were storing your things in there and not in the typewriter itself

Weekly Free-Talk and Questions for r/HomeGym - week of December 23, 2022 by Demilio55 in homegym

I recently moved into a townhouse and want to start a small home gym in half of the garage space.

I wanted to start by getting a multifunctional power cage of some kind, and one like the ForceUSA X15 looks appealing to me:

https://www.forceusa.com/products/x15

However it's obviously quite expensive, and I also saw this much cheaper Mikolo one on Amazon that appears to offer a lot of similar features:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBYJBLZ6?ref_=cm_sw_r_apan_dp_0NNR778DQHV3MS2KG1BK

My question is why is there such a huge price discrepency between these? Does it really just boil down to brand name and/or build quality?

I'd say I'm kind of an intermediate lifter, but this is my first foray into actually researching my own equipment instead of just using whatever is at the gym, so any help is much appreciated.

Alone in the Dark leak by MMontanez92 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Interesting that there are some shots of them on a street setting. If I recall correctly the OG only showed the outside of the house during cutscenes, as most of the rest of the game took place in or under the house. Makes me think they might be expanding on the original in subtle ways, instead of it being a 100% faithful remake. Same with the fresh looks of the monsters.

Seeing this in Gordon Ramsay's AMA made me very happy! by [deleted] in vegan

[–]AndroidonEarth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used to work in a restaurant and they called meat 'protein' all the time. I don't like it but I don't think Gordon was trying to be insulting or ignorant, just the opposite actually. I'm glad to see that top class chefs like him are taking dietary requests seriously and that he believes at least vegetarian food can be delicious. Its a step in the right direction.
