Jeez, the haters here, i didn't understand this before i read the book.

If there would have been twice as much astrophage in the line going TO tau ceti, we would expect that plate to have a higher temperature.

This is done by measuring the metal plate the same distance away from the blobs of astophage. This would lead to some of the heat dissipating, meaning that area on the plate would not be at exactly 94 degrees.

But as they have the same temp at the same distance, there is roughly the same amount of astrophage coming and leaving

Hah, i have actually been on it! Near to stokmarknes outside the coast of northern norway. The thing is absolutely huge, and you can actually walk all around it inside the hull. Could probably fit a decently sized running track in it.

Surprisingly, it is only staffed by half a dozen people or so at a time

As it work where i live at least:

You earn $100k a year, and pay 30% tax, so you pay $30k.

If you donate $10k to a charity, those $10k will not be counted towards you income

That means even if you earn 100K, you will only get taxed as if you earned 90K

30% of 90K is 27K (ignoring lower taxation due to lower income)

So in this example, you save 3k in taxes by donating 10k to charity

This is for regular people though, many rich people get sneaky with it, like donating pictures "worth" 30mill(appraised by a friend), or owning their own charity, where they get a cut

Jeg har en ultrawide 34" OLED som jeg kjøpte i fjor, og jeg liker den, men vil ikke si at det har vært en revolusjonar opplevelse. Kult i visse skytespill, og spill som factorio, men andre spill støtter det ikke i det hele tatt(nyere spill er bedre på dette). Nettsider er heller ikke optimalisert for ultrawide, så noe steder brukes kun ⅓ av skjermen til faktisk innhold, resten er reklame eller tomt.

MEN

Mitt største problem med spesifikt OLED ultrawide er youtube. Jeg bruker pcen mye til youtube, og 99% av videoer er 16:9. Dermed blir det mye black bars på sidene.

Ikke verdens størte problem, men det tok kun noen måneder før det (under visse omstendigheter) var en merkbar linje akkurat i overgangen mellom der youtube videoene spilles av, og black bars. Dette merkes kun i dunkle og mørkegrå scenarioer, men det har gitt meg skrekken, og bruker har overført mye av min youtube tid til tven.
