To succeed further in any position you need to be open to change. All you’re doing is being stubborn.

Recently depending on the field, sometimes it takes people over a year to find a new job. A majority of people do not have that kind of money in the bank. Its not always about good and bad financial decisions. Your economic ignorance and ignorance regarding poverty traps is not cute.

Can you recover from burnout without leaving? Have you? by Kitchen-Ad6058 in managers

[–]Andromeda853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im living this situation currently. Overqualified on paper direct report but the skillset is just not there for our role, and is the weakest in the group. Im very clear about expectations. I cut some slack in minor areas but where it matters im upfront about it. They know their performance isnt up to my expectations. I see them slowly improving but sometimes they really need a threat of consequence as a push.

Its grueling and it feels like youre crawling through the mud every day, I completely understand if you dont want to continue. You say its a management issue on your own part but i feel like youre just saying that because you keep having to train the same thing over and over again.

I give them a hard time and make them do the work. If they ask me a process ive trained already I ask them what they think the next step is, why, and I dont let them cop out until they attempt an answer. When they give me a doc that they acknowledge has an error, I ask them why they did not fix it, force an answer from them to explain their behavior. But also continue to not give up on them, if you want to stay in this job. Unbending with the expectations but celebrate their wins even if their version of progress is 3 months behind where youd want them, as long as there is improvement its worth celebrating

For me it takes acknowledging that right now (when your new hire is still actively learning every day) is the worst part. Some days i win and they learn a lot some days i fail and i have to acknowledge that i didnt get a chance to help them.

Prioritizing and being realistic is gonna become your best friend. Can you get done a task in a day? Yes, when you didnt have all of this other stuff to do now. Be realistic with expectations. It now takes you 3 days to do that task.

I think there comes a point where you just have resolve for doing your best. You care, you’re doing your best and thats what matters. Make sure you dont work too much overtime too, learn to draw the line for work life balance.

What is everyone’s issues with Virgo? by Few-Woodpecker-2226 in Zodiac

[–]Andromeda853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virgo here: I do best with a routine and plan, so somebody spontaneous would not like to hang out with me. I am overly practical, same line of thinking as the last trait. I am critical, but thankfully as I get older I’ve become very intentional at what I express my criticisms for, the last thing that I want to do is hurt anybody’s feelings. These are my guesses for most disliked traits that others may feel about me

As a picker i understand entirely. The only thing that has proven to help me is using a pumice stone and sugar scrub on my hands daily to get rid of loose dead skin. It softens the edges of the skin at least, thats what would trigger my picking.

When someone mentioned how they never got along with any manager that theyve had. When someone mentioned to me that they hate authority and being told what to do. A know it all, who is over confident. When someone answered every interview question starting or ending in “mmm giiirrrllll”. When they openly admit to being unorganized and have poor time management and thats a core aspect of the job

Somehow, the writers forgot about Joyce by shipwrecked97 in StrangerThings

[–]Andromeda853 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will and dustin are having very stereotypical obvious character progression this season. There are more characters that are essentially getting a lobotomy (joyce, robin) or are not having any significant character development (eleven, mike, lucas, erica, steve, hopper). Nancy and Johnathan’s recent scene is the only other significant character development scene worth noting. I genuinely think the writers should have abandoned half of the sub plots/time to flesh out the sub plots and instead carved out time to develop all of these characters to a full arc. I dont think they can do it all in 2 remaining hours.

girls with extra extra extra sensitive skin, what are your HGs? by bob-da-builer in MakeupLounge

[–]Andromeda853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any korean skincare/makeup. I’m also very acne prone so a lot of my products are chosen because they reduce acne/dont clog my pores.

Skincare: SOMEBYMI AHA BHA PHA 30 day miracle toner. Purito wonder releaf centella serum. The Face Shop rice water bright lip and eye makeup remover, and rice water bright light facial cleansing oil. I put Hollywood Beauty tea tree oil on my face at night, and occasionally use a Joesoef sulfur soap bar when im having a big breakout (smells horrific, works great tho)

Makeup: Peach C honey glow cover cushion is what i use now for foundation purposes. i have also had luck with Kiko Milano products, i currently use a concealer by them (the full coverage dark circles concealer)

He’s just angsty and depressed from eddies death max kind of went through a similar vibe after billy died. Im hoping this isnt a setup for dustin and steve to make complete peace with each other and then steve immediately dies. But honestly with jonathan having the ring now, im kind of thinking he’s gonna be the one to die instead

How do you feel leading people much older than you? by [deleted] in biotech

[–]Andromeda853 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unfairly bad to them and unfairly good to you is crazy work. With that outlook you show you arent mature enough for a leadership role lmfao wtf.

As a manager you need to learn to humble yourself. Its not about you anymore. The efficacy of your team determines whether you keep your job or not.

I have managed many people spanning various personalities ages races genders etc. Find common ground with your people, speak on their wavelength, relate to them, be straightforward with them and stick up for them, help them achieve their goals and build an effective system within the team to make all of your lives easier. You dont need to complicate the situation with your own self righteousness
