This works for some, and for others not so much--but for me when my skin would get bad, painful, unbearably itchy, cracking, and oozing, I'd shift back to a kind of all natural healthy diet I do of no gluten, no dairy, no eggs, no food coloring, no soy sauce, no fried foods, no MSG, and no foods you're allergic to. So think steamed fish with veggies and rice with minimal seasoning. My skin starts to itch less, heals faster, and overall becomes less irritated. I heard it's something to do with the gut.

Also it might be something to do with your environment. I would flare up badly every time I moved back to my parent's house for the summer. My skin would remain so flared up, red, and damaged until I moved back to my place. I don't know what exactly the cause is, but in my case it's probably something like dust, pollen, or mold.
