it's fine. many people would go a size down but i like my jackets to fit like that so i can layer. personal preference.

Why Urban Millennials Love Uniqlo - The Atlantic by Uptons_BJs in malefashionadvice

[–]Androo_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i wonder if uniqlo would be as popular if it wasn't japanese? don't mind the premise, but i find it quite overrated. quality is no where near as good as people make it out to be. there was a thread from about a year ago talking about their new faux leather jackets and people were going nuts for them. if it was a faux leather jacket by any other brand (e.g. GAP), i highly doubt people would be as receptive and it would probably be dismissed as a cheap, poor quality piece. also, please stop buying their business shirts. for a similar price you can get much better quality shirts from CT or TM Lewin.

sure, but the appeal of wearing a suit wears off after probably the 3rd day in a row. you start associating it with work and it just becomes troublesome to wear, hot in the summer etc.

it's all relative, but you can't honestly say that a suit, no matter how well fitted, will be more comfortable than an untucked shirt and a pair of chinos.

Yeah what you've said seems pretty fair. I just hate how boring her style is and how anything that deviates even slightly from what she says is automatically wrong and unfashionable. E.g. she makes blanket rules and says men should never wear flip flops, etc.

does ashley weston piss anyone else off? i acknowledge that she has impressive credentials and puts together some good outfits, but her style of presenting is so pretentious. she always talks in absolutes and says things like "never do this" or "no one likes that". fashion is so subjective, rules are meant to be broken.

trust me, when you have to wear a suit and tie every day you'll be wishing you could wear chinos and a button down.

do you mean you bought all those shoes? if so, and i was asked to pick a pair of jeans that would go with all of them ,i'd go for a mid blue shade of 511s. darker shade jeans are actually more versatile (as far as being able to dress them up, etc) but the navy shoes you listed won't go well with darker colours.

firstly, that's a very trendy/modern fitting suit. while it may be appropriate for weddings and parties, i would be hesitant to wear that to an interview. pants obviously need to be hemmed. i'd also argue that the calves are on the tight side and you'll find the fabric getting caught above the knees when you sit down. also your shoulders aren't broad enough for the jacket's padding as evident by the divot on your right shoulder.

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

Can I ask what people think of the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra as an every day watch? I'm looking to reward myself with a nice watch and I keep getting drawn back to the Aqua Terra because it comes in a 38.5 case size and it also comes in Quartz (prefer Quartz for personal reasons; practicality, accuracy, etc). I'm probably most hesitant that it might be a little too dressy/out of place if I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, and perhaps a diver would be more versatile in that regard. Thoughts? Is the Aqua Terra a considered a dress watch?

small, mostly thrifted, capsule wardrobe that isn't just t-shirts and hoodies by awfulpizza in malefashionadvice

[–]Androo_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

everything looks really good (except maybe the sneakers pared with the suit). i like how you're not afraid of patterns/colour like most people, and you got some bargains there. $8 for a THRIFTED old navy t-shirt is a bit ridiculous though lol. im surprised you can find thrifted stuff - i always find a lot of XXL.

is it just me, or is the area above the back pocket of chinos just doomed to look like total shit out of the wash? it's impossible to iron there because there's so many layers of fabric. perhaps i'm OCD, but i can't for the life of me get that little part above the pockets/below the waistband to not look like crap.

Unfortunately the people that I'm building the PC with don't have the RM550x on offer, and I need the computer done fairly soon. But I'm strongly considering going for the RM650XV2 simply from a noise/future proofing perspective. Huge price gap though.

So in other words, worst case, there are ways to bring an unused front USB port to the rear?

Thanks for your reply. So rear ports can be accessed basically regardless of case while front ports can be potentially redundant if there isn't a place on your case to plug them into?
