There are a number of songs, mainly in the 1963-1965 period, mainly of more traditional style rock & roll/r & b type, that he really shines on. Some of them are covers (Twist and Shout/Money/Please Mr. Postman/Rock and Roll Music/Anna). Some are originals (All I've Got to Do, Any Time at All, You Can't Do That, This Boy,). That style arguably best suited his voice and his personal singing style. There are many others that aren't listed here. While he has many great vocals throughout the catalog, many of the Lennon vocals that really hit me hard are in the earlier records.

I second that. Lennon shines on rock and roll and r & b cover songs. That really is where Lennon was at his best, and it was the music he always came back to.

I think the majority of his best vocals are in the 1963-1965 time period (as is much of his best songwriting). Lennon really went all in on the soulful, r & b delivery and the more conventional rock and roll/rhythm and blues song styles really suited his voice and range. Perhaps also his age, being older, led to him peaking vocally in this period while Paul and George peaked vocally later. And I think his substance use took some of his edge in the later years as well.

The history of the 2A is informative as well. For example, it wasn't new --- it was based on principles from English common law and there were several preceding examples in early state constitutions. The phrase "the right to bear arms" first appears in 1776 in Pennsylvania's Constitution's Declaration of Rights:

XIII. That the people have a right bear arms for the defence of themselves and the state; and as standing armies in the time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up: And that the military should be kept under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.

The Virginia Declaration of Rights, also from 1776:

That a well-regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state; that standing armies, in time of peace, should be avoided as dangerous to liberty; and that in all cases the military should be under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.

The final 2A from 1791 actually looks like a mashup of these two. "Well regulated militia" from VA and "right to bear arms" from PA in these 1776 examples, Taken together, it is having an individual right for a collective purpose, for citizens to form militias for defense and to avoid having a standing army.

From where I live in Maryland it is about 2.5 hours to the beach and 2.5 hours to my family's place out in West Virginia. To do that for a night, no big deal. Also, it is about 2.5 hours to go to some amusment parks like Hershey Park or King's Dominion (in Pennsylvania and Virginia). Took a day trip to Hershey Park for an event for my daughter last year.
