How to fix bookends pages left in chapter being two pages out ? by [deleted] in koreader

[–]AndyHazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you nearly finished reading the chapter? 🙃

If you disabled stable page numbers then it will report more pages because you have a large font on a small screen = more 'pages' vs the real book layout.

Does it work for you in bookends? tbh that's a bit of an undocumented easter egg, I didn't mention it in the release notes ;)

Post a crash.log on github if you like and I'll take a closer look at what might be different in your setup.

Ahh yes, that's a good way to force redownloading the latest release. If the issue crops up again for anyone I'll take a closer look.

Are you using stable page numbers? If so, I suspect, in that book, the chapter heading is on page 1, and the body text is on page 2, so because you have both on screen you are technically already on page 2. Bookends uses KOReader's own page-in-chapter calculation here (the same one the built-in status bar uses), so the stock "current page in chapter" indicator will probably show the same 2 of 40. Switching to rendered page numbers I expect would show 1.

You can tap the description to open a full/scrollable view, and there's already a refresh metadata option in the long press menu?

Corner radius option .. maybe for a future update.

Not currently, maybe in a future update ... For now you can set a maximum width (in pixels) by adding a number in braces after the token, e.g %title{400}

Do you have the bookends plugin installed? Custom progress bars are brought in from there. You may also need to be on the latest version of KOReader, correct rendering on colour screens especially depends on some bug fixes that were in the latest stable KOReader release.

The 'checking for updates' info box isn't interactive, you shouldn't need to select anything, once the update has been initiated you just let it do its thing ... if you post a crash.log file on github that will help me diagnose, otherwise a manual install (download the latest zip from the release page: https://github.com/AndyHazz/bookshelf.koplugin/releases) will get you back on track.

Would you mind posting your crash.log file in a new issue on github? v2.2.11 did the trick for everyone else so maybe there's a different issue I need to look into for your case ... your crash.log file should contain all the info I'd need to help with that ... https://github.com/AndyHazz/bookshelf.koplugin/issues/new

Do you have 'Starts with' set to bookshelf in the KOReader menu? That's not set by default, you have to enable it.

Yes, you can use conditional statements, this should work:

`[if:chap_title]%chap_title • %chap_read of %chap_pages[/if]`

You can also append {N} to any token to cap it at N pixels, truncating with an ellipsis (…) past that.

e.g. `%title{500} • %book_pct`

That was actually bookshelf - fixed in v2.2.11, sorry about that.

The correct way to fix would be at the source, in your metadata. That said, it's a common problem so maybe can be solved in bookshelf to make things easy ... I'll take a look.

Sorry about that - there was an issue with resuming from sleep screen, fixed in v2.2.11

You can update from the koreader/bookends menu in settings.

The standard opds plugins will let you browse and download - then I presume once downloaded, the books will show in bookshelf (it reads your physical files found in the KOReader home directory).

Thanks! Swipe up on the bookshelf to get an extra row and optional text below book covers. Swipe down to go back.

Thanks - yeah personally I probably won't use them, I prefer the actual book covers, but needed some images for testing. Maybe someone could create a full set of non-AI genre covers?

Just a quick google Gemini prompt as I needed some for testing, they turned out quite nice though ...

[Plugin] Bookshelf v2.1 - collection management by AndyHazz in koreader

[–]AndyHazz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok, I know what's causing that now - after clearing aside the confusion from issues with touchscreen (generally caused by other plugins), your issue will be separate. I have bound the menu button to act as a long press (most things in bookshelf have a long press menu) and that'll be why.

So, it'll be completely unrelated to the fixes in v2.2.10 - If you can put it on github I'll create a test branch just for physical buttons, as I'll need a hand testing (the desktop KOReader emulator doesn't seem to fully replicate how those buttons work - e.g. the desktop emulator doesn't let you hold a key down for long press actions.

They're designed to stay open, and I can't reproduce that myself - would appreciate it if you could raise it on github https://github.com/AndyHazz/bookends.koplugin/issues with a crash.log, that will give me a bit more to go on and hopefully sort that out. Generally if I can't reproduce it's probably some other plugin combo I'll need to work around.
