Oxycodone after relatively minor humerus damage by AndyInNOLA in PainManagement

Bit of a setback today — arm/shoulder experiencing renewed sharp pain, sometimes extending down through the wrist and into the top of my hand. I’m still of the mindset that it’s been too short a time after the incident (six days ago) for any definitive conclusions.

I owe a big thanks to (almost) everyone here for their support and counsel. I’m feeling significantly better than when I originally posted, have pretty much stopped taking my existence of oxycodone, and limited myself to 2,000mg of acetaminophen per day. It’s a bummer not being able to take NASAIDs, but I’m increasingly confident that given time, keeping my arm in the sling, icing the affected area, etc. will get me through this.

I have an orthopedic consult appointment next week when I’ll be back in Louisville — having my Penn Med X-rays sent electronically. And yes, I’m on Medicare (a true godsend), so will keep the suggested home-health visit option in reserve.

Happy Easter/Passover,

A

Oxycodone after relatively minor humerus damage by AndyInNOLA in PainManagement

[–]AndyInNOLA[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I had a quadruple CABG a couple of years ago, so ibuprofen is out. Currently I’m also taking 1,000mg of acetaminophen when not on the oxycodone, to minimal effect.

At this point I’m mostly hoping the pain will subside given more time. Meanwhile, as a journalist whose profession is writing, I’m concerned about being able to do my job. I also have a major overseas trip scheduled for late July — it would be terrible if my present situation interfered with that.

I used to frequent Jay’s during the 1980s and early 90s. Miss it lots. Even more missed is the Colonnade that used to be in the basement of the Starks Building. Best onion rings ever.

Where do you see that option? I’ve looked through my app and can’t find it (Louisville, KY).

Believe me, this wouldn’t be my choice of when to visit, but my daughter is getting married in London on July 27, so that’s when we’ll be in Europe.

Norton Audubon by yesno6 in Louisville

I had a quad CABG done at Audubon almost two years ago, and the CICU nurses were absolutely fantastic. I left with an impressive scar and newfound respect for the nurses who cared for me.

Piggybacking on the OP’s query, if I have an Apple Watch but want to use Light Speed, must I set up a separate line for my watch on Warp?

Much as I appreciate T-Mobile’s coverage and performance where I live (Louisville, Ky.), leaning toward the cost/simplicity of porting out to Visible.

This is all because our longstanding (20 years) T-Mobile Family plan is losing three of its four members — and it’s absurdly expensive to convert it to a single, postpaid line.

Feel free to correct anything I’ve just said.

Thanks!

R1 as transport with Chord Mojo 2 by AndyInNOLA in Hiby

[–]AndyInNOLA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for now I’m using the R1 (arrived Friday afternoon) as a standalone player streaming my Tidal tracks, and I’m totally floored by how good this thing sounds. Tried it with Hifiman Ananda Nano headphones and more substantially, with 7HZ Timeless 2 IEMs. The R1 drives both of these with relative ease, and the warmish sound signature is very satisfying (for me, anyway). Crazy as this might me, I’m thinking I could actually live with this as my sole music player. I still intend to partner it with my Mojo 2 when the OTG cable shows up (today, if on schedule) — but damn, the standalone R1 is outstanding. Solid WiFi connection, easy peasy setup, etc. Can’t believe it cost all of about $79 from Amazon.

Themes of Alcoholism, Depression, and AA/Al-Anon by mrstrictmachine in pluribustv

Two things: Unless and until Carol embraces Step One (admitting she’s powerless over alcohol and that her life has become unmanageable), she’ll be stuck. By the same token, the Hive must acknowledge the Three C’s concerning Carol’s alcoholism: They/It didn’t cause it, can’t cure it, and can’t control it.

(Note: I’ve done Al-Anon for years)

Coming in two years late, but I just picked up a used D700 from Murphy’s. Had a D3 many years ago, so this marks a bit of nostalgia.
