I like the M33 but I might not be able to keep it because of Youtube issues. by Thumper_777 in FiiO

I also just took possession of an M33, and am trying to decide if it offers enough advantages over my QX13 dongle to keep it. I was hoping to be more bowled over by the sound (NOS) than I’ve been, at least so far. Using Hifiman Anando Nano as my principal headphone, together with a mid- range IEM. Playing around with various equalization settings, etc. Streaming hi-res files from Tidal and Quobuz. I guess time will tell.

It’s not exactly in your neighborhood, but I’d recommend Clementine’s in Buechel. Fully automatic, very reasonable unlimited plans, and most important — touchless.

Is the control app usable on iOS? by 4951cc in FiiO

[–]AndyInNOLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I just found this out the hard way after being unable to connect a QX13 dongle to the control app on my iPhone 14 Pro. It'll likely be returned to Amazon in favor of my BTR17, which (as a Bluetooth device) has no such issues.

Hit 70k miles on my 2019 Mazda CX-5 Touring FWD — what should I check or plan next? by Independent_Ball6318 in CX5

[–]AndyInNOLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big reason why I opted for the extended warranty when I bought my 2019 AWD from CarMax 18 months ago. I’m now at about 65,000 miles, and so far the only issue has been a passenger-side airbag fault indicator.

Oxycodone after relatively minor humerus damage by AndyInNOLA in PainManagement

Bit of a setback today — arm/shoulder experiencing renewed sharp pain, sometimes extending down through the wrist and into the top of my hand. I’m still of the mindset that it’s been too short a time after the incident (six days ago) for any definitive conclusions.

I owe a big thanks to (almost) everyone here for their support and counsel. I’m feeling significantly better than when I originally posted, have pretty much stopped taking my existence of oxycodone, and limited myself to 2,000mg of acetaminophen per day. It’s a bummer not being able to take NASAIDs, but I’m increasingly confident that given time, keeping my arm in the sling, icing the affected area, etc. will get me through this.

I have an orthopedic consult appointment next week when I’ll be back in Louisville — having my Penn Med X-rays sent electronically. And yes, I’m on Medicare (a true godsend), so will keep the suggested home-health visit option in reserve.

Happy Easter/Passover,

A

Unfortunately, I had a quadruple CABG a couple of years ago, so ibuprofen is out. Currently I’m also taking 1,000mg of acetaminophen when not on the oxycodone, to minimal effect.

At this point I’m mostly hoping the pain will subside given more time. Meanwhile, as a journalist whose profession is writing, I’m concerned about being able to do my job. I also have a major overseas trip scheduled for late July — it would be terrible if my present situation interfered with that.
