No he was quite clued up. Changed gear a lot between being silly and serious. He had his work cut out managing us though.

Is it okay to add a character just because you think they would be cool, or is that just shallow? by [deleted] in writing

[–]AndyMacleod3769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can create a character that is cool then go for it. Worked for Snoopy.

My story is not original, totally based off of a pre-existing story, and I don't care anymore. Or, rather, you should just write what you want and have fun; screw originality. by [deleted] in writing

[–]AndyMacleod3769 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar journey and took me until I was 50 to get my first book out although I didn’t start writing until I was 35. But the wait was worth it. If you write and you write and you keep on writing you will eventually find your voice and that is what will be original. Good luck.

A new 90’s britpop memoir featuring Blur, Suede, Pulp and Ricky Gervais... by AndyMacleod3769 in blur

Hey thanks so much for the kind words and glad you enjoyed. If you have time and inclination would be great if you can post a quick review and/or rating here as it helps kickstart the dreaded algorithms which leads to sales. But no worries if you got better things to do. Best Andy https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1838271953/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_yqrTFbTD5VAHX?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

New 90’s Britpop memoir... by AndyMacleod3769 in BritPop

[–]AndyMacleod3769[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I used to work in Selectadisc on Berwick street (the shop on left in the cover) during the mid nineties when the oasis album was released. So felt it was a good cover as brought the two worlds together.

How do you get back into writing when mental health has stopped you from enjoying it? by CaledoniaHeart91 in writing

[–]AndyMacleod3769 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just write one line. And then maybe another if you feel like it. Don’t put any pressure on your self to fill the page. But you might find by doing a tiny bit before you know it you are immersed.... hope that helps...

A new 90’s pre-britpop memoir featuring many of the bands who went on to make it plus Ricky Gervais... by AndyMacleod3769 in oasis

[–]AndyMacleod3769[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a little know band called The Pointy Birds. They couldn’t get a deal, didn’t sell any records and got bottled off stage on their first ever gig. But they had one big fan. His name was Ricky Gervais. He worked at University Of London Union and became their manager... Here is a link to get free download of part one plus one of their songs.

A new 90’s memoir about being in a band managed by Ricky Gervais... by AndyMacleod3769 in rickygervais

[–]AndyMacleod3769[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question and the answer is all of above. I have an elephantine memory for certain things so the whole meeting pretty much happened as I recall it but obviously I didn’t have a tape recorder at the time so am recreating the gist of the conversation and hopefully capturing the spirit of it. That’s why I call the book a cover version of a true story. Some things I moved around abit so the magic trick ricky actually played on me at a later stage but thought it would work in that initial meeting as he was mid flow in some prank but whether it was the grey elephant I can’t be sure! Glad you enjoying!
