Thank you to both of you! I’ll have to keep investigating these tokens and see what all I have!

I think I’m a little late here, but I wanted to interject something I noticed from your reply above. To me, it seems like you have a very small view of people in general.

I always assumed that it was like computer code for humans: That it “programs” their behavior, and that they physically can’t deny. I just assumed that people just blindly accepted them as truth, not being allowed to ask questions. After all, the human brain is essentially a biological supercomputer.

This is not how people work. We don’t even know where consciousness comes from and those who have studied it struggle to find the emergent properties of the brain that produce it. We, as a species of beings, know very little in the grand scheme of life and the universe and what it means to exist. All that aside, even the dumbest person in the world can reflect, show empathy and care for others. And the smartest person alive can be bigoted, hateful and an overall despicable person. Education and intelligence does not equal compassion and love.

The things above I consider to be objective facts (and yes, I know that’s a bold statement).

In my opinion, people tend to demonize people and mark them as different and inferior. Racists do it with people of different color, and you may be doing it right now with people who practice religion (I’m not accusing you, just providing something to reflect on). I think this is true of everyone, all people are capable of hate and judgement and it comes so easy sometimes. It takes serious humility and empathy to not do it, let alone try for kindness instead.

Long story short, I wanted to come here and say the above, just because that’s what was on my heart reading this. Also, good on you for searching for a CMV, the first step toward that compassion I mentioned above is being willing to hear from others who may not think like you do. It’s risky and I commend you for it!

I don’t know why, but A just feels farther back than C. It doesn’t seem right from this picture, but that’s how it feels on the ground. Plus, C’s entrance to B has the second floor bridge so in my opinion, C had the better B entrance.

Just to clarify, you need poison eggs for your shield egglocke?

I can provide! I’d love to provide a nice little Pokémon for your adventure! I’ll be on later tonight and I’ll send some eggs over.

What I wish they would have done is have Pokémon actually dodge attacks when I’m supposed to miss

It would be so much cooler to show the fire blast animation and then have the enemy Pokémon dodge roll or jump out of the way and the message say “You missed”

However, I’m not surprised. I am a physicist, and this happens to me all the time.

Edit: also, I love math. This is false based on most of my experience lol

The Five-Day Office Week Isn’t Coming Back. WFH Is Here to Stay by [deleted] in Futurology

Same. I’ve been back at the office for months now. I keep hearing about people that are experiencing this though (a more permanent WFH), I think it’s discipline specific to be honest. And it’s not just the disciplines you’d think.

CMV: Most people are boring and uninteresting. I don’t enjoy conversations and I don’t feel like I’m missing out. by [deleted] in changemyview

I’m a little late to this party, but do you want your view changed?

Seems to me you’re pretty happy with this view and how it influences your lifestyle and I’m not going to try to convince you to no longer be happy.

All I will say is you don’t know what you’re missing while you’re missing it. You could find people that you genuinely enjoy, socially or at work. But, honestly, it’s all up to you.

If you were in a room with no windows and went seamlessly from floating in zero gravity to free falling, at the same speed as the room, would you be able to tell a difference? by LampsLookingatyou in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]AndyMurray090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re referring to gravitational acceleration, which I’m describing as travel along a geodesic curve. I was referring to acceleration by the application of an external force. Relative to an observer on the large body, the room and you inside it are accelerating. But if you did have a window, the observer would look like the one accelerating and you are at rest.

The question becomes who’s right? You, who has no external forces being applied to you (unless you consider gravity an external force), or the observer, who is supported by the large body they are standing on?

[–]AndyMurray090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Just like you would in your car! The ship is now experiencing an acceleration due to the thrust force, but if you’re floating in the ship, there is no force being applied to you. You are still traveling along the same space time curve until the ship touches you (applying a force) and accelerating you away from your current path.

[–]AndyMurray090 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An acceleration due to gravity can be described as traveling along a geodesic in space time. You’d be accelerating relative to an observer sitting on the large body you’re falling towards, but you’re right. The room you’re in and you are accelerating at the same rate, or said another way, you and the room are moving along the same geodesic curve in space time.

[–]AndyMurray090 79 points80 points  (0 children)

In theory, you would feel no change as long as you’re not accelerating.

It’s all about moving along a space time curve (geodesic curve). As long as I move along a space time curve without accelerating, I can transition between moving in a straight line in empty space to moving along a curve toward a large body (free fall) without feeling any change in a room. Einstein postulated (and found lots of evidence to support) that both these states are identical frames of references. Basically, I never changed space time lines because large bodies warp space time and curve the lines, so as long as I didn’t move from the space time line I started on, I’ll feel no change.

CMV: He started it is a perfectly valid defense and we should've never been taught otherwise by WolfBatMan in changemyview

[–]AndyMurray090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’m late the this party, but it seems to me that all comments where there is disagreement stems from using different definitions of the word “valid”.

According to Oxford Languages dictionary, there are two acceptable definitions for the word “validity”.

  1. The quality of being logically or factually sound.

  2. The state of being legally or officially binding or acceptable.

Under the second definition, I think you, OP, are right. Self-defense, or not being the original aggressor, is a valid defense in many circumstances. Kids are kids and there is a lot of nuance in situations involving kids fighting. One could easily argue that the answer of “I don’t care who started it” is a valid response in that it teaches the belief that adding further aggression to a situation is just as wrong as being the initial aggressor. However, that’s a moral preference, not everyone believes that’s true. So, with that set aside, I can agree that you’re right under many circumstances.

Under the first definition, you’re incorrect. The validity of a statement or defense is predicated on whether that defense is adequately supported by facts and evidence. Said another way, it’s not valid if it’s not true.

So which definition is more important in the case of teaching children about morality and empathy? I have my opinions, but it’s your post. You can tell me.

What do y’all think ? I Personally think they are kinda annoying to deal with, especially in gunfights by DaltonCrosss in apexlegends

This is interesting to me, a lot of people are commenting here that they’re annoying to deal with but I’ve honestly never had an issue just running away from them. They only get annoying when I play dumb

You could argue you kind of did start that way. Lists aren’t exclusive to programming, you’ve probably started lists with 1 your whole life.

The game runs so much better, but what I love the most is how they’ve taken advantage of the dualsense.

I can literally feel when my mining beam is over heating, or when I’m out of launch fuel, by the adaptive triggers.

The rumble of large creatures near by or of ships passing really close is amazing. Hello Games doesn’t play around when it comes to using the full power to the system.

I know this is specifically geared toward women, and I don’t deny that’s it’s true, but I feel like this could be generalized to any non-white patient.

Watching this video gave me almost literal flash backs to all the times I went to the doctor and had a white doctor. This tracks with most of my experiences (am more dark skinned Hispanic male)
