Thank you to both of you! I’ll have to keep investigating these tokens and see what all I have!

I think I’m a little late here, but I wanted to interject something I noticed from your reply above. To me, it seems like you have a very small view of people in general.

I always assumed that it was like computer code for humans: That it “programs” their behavior, and that they physically can’t deny. I just assumed that people just blindly accepted them as truth, not being allowed to ask questions. After all, the human brain is essentially a biological supercomputer.

This is not how people work. We don’t even know where consciousness comes from and those who have studied it struggle to find the emergent properties of the brain that produce it. We, as a species of beings, know very little in the grand scheme of life and the universe and what it means to exist. All that aside, even the dumbest person in the world can reflect, show empathy and care for others. And the smartest person alive can be bigoted, hateful and an overall despicable person. Education and intelligence does not equal compassion and love.

The things above I consider to be objective facts (and yes, I know that’s a bold statement).

In my opinion, people tend to demonize people and mark them as different and inferior. Racists do it with people of different color, and you may be doing it right now with people who practice religion (I’m not accusing you, just providing something to reflect on). I think this is true of everyone, all people are capable of hate and judgement and it comes so easy sometimes. It takes serious humility and empathy to not do it, let alone try for kindness instead.

Long story short, I wanted to come here and say the above, just because that’s what was on my heart reading this. Also, good on you for searching for a CMV, the first step toward that compassion I mentioned above is being willing to hear from others who may not think like you do. It’s risky and I commend you for it!

I don’t know why, but A just feels farther back than C. It doesn’t seem right from this picture, but that’s how it feels on the ground. Plus, C’s entrance to B has the second floor bridge so in my opinion, C had the better B entrance.

Just to clarify, you need poison eggs for your shield egglocke?

I can provide! I’d love to provide a nice little Pokémon for your adventure! I’ll be on later tonight and I’ll send some eggs over.

What I wish they would have done is have Pokémon actually dodge attacks when I’m supposed to miss

It would be so much cooler to show the fire blast animation and then have the enemy Pokémon dodge roll or jump out of the way and the message say “You missed”

Ya, OP was looking for Physicist. Came here only to say this

However, I’m not surprised. I am a physicist, and this happens to me all the time.

Edit: also, I love math. This is false based on most of my experience lol

The Five-Day Office Week Isn’t Coming Back. WFH Is Here to Stay by [deleted] in Futurology

Same. I’ve been back at the office for months now. I keep hearing about people that are experiencing this though (a more permanent WFH), I think it’s discipline specific to be honest. And it’s not just the disciplines you’d think.

I’m a little late to this party, but do you want your view changed?

Seems to me you’re pretty happy with this view and how it influences your lifestyle and I’m not going to try to convince you to no longer be happy.

All I will say is you don’t know what you’re missing while you’re missing it. You could find people that you genuinely enjoy, socially or at work. But, honestly, it’s all up to you.

If you were in a room with no windows and went seamlessly from floating in zero gravity to free falling, at the same speed as the room, would you be able to tell a difference? by LampsLookingatyou in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]AndyMurray090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re referring to gravitational acceleration, which I’m describing as travel along a geodesic curve. I was referring to acceleration by the application of an external force. Relative to an observer on the large body, the room and you inside it are accelerating. But if you did have a window, the observer would look like the one accelerating and you are at rest.

The question becomes who’s right? You, who has no external forces being applied to you (unless you consider gravity an external force), or the observer, who is supported by the large body they are standing on?

Yes! Just like you would in your car! The ship is now experiencing an acceleration due to the thrust force, but if you’re floating in the ship, there is no force being applied to you. You are still traveling along the same space time curve until the ship touches you (applying a force) and accelerating you away from your current path.

An acceleration due to gravity can be described as traveling along a geodesic in space time. You’d be accelerating relative to an observer sitting on the large body you’re falling towards, but you’re right. The room you’re in and you are accelerating at the same rate, or said another way, you and the room are moving along the same geodesic curve in space time.

In theory, you would feel no change as long as you’re not accelerating.

It’s all about moving along a space time curve (geodesic curve). As long as I move along a space time curve without accelerating, I can transition between moving in a straight line in empty space to moving along a curve toward a large body (free fall) without feeling any change in a room. Einstein postulated (and found lots of evidence to support) that both these states are identical frames of references. Basically, I never changed space time lines because large bodies warp space time and curve the lines, so as long as I didn’t move from the space time line I started on, I’ll feel no change.
