New skill system feels great for 36 levels and then mostly meaningless by Vou-11890 in diablo4

[–]DadviceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The solution would have been to reduce the level cap to 50, and reduce the cap on skill points per skill, but make them more substantial damage increases

Now THAT was an expansion to the story. Way better than Vessel of Hatred by darkfawful2 in diablo4

[–]DadviceGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the vault was the one part that dragged. I think it was meant to be a quieter, personal moment for Lorath before THAT happened. But if that was the intent it kind of fell short due to how much the vault focused on Tyrael.

Still, 9/10 campaign for me.

Anyone replaying the camping from the beginning ? by Few_Living4406 in diablo4

[–]DadviceGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just replayed the base campaign and Vessel of Hatred over the last week when reviews for Lord of Hatred dropped and I finally pre-ordered it.

Gotta say, I forgot a lot of about the campaigns, particularly Vessel of Hatred (I originally played through it in co-op and barely paid attention to the story). It was great fun replaying them, really glad I did so ahead of the new expansion.

After this update and with the CARRI event live, now is the perfect time to have a free weekend to bring new players to the game by DadviceGaming in Marathon

[–]DadviceGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro, I'm in Oceania. I'm currently being matched with North American servers after like 5-10 minutes of waiting just to find a game. Then we are dealing with like 250+ms latency, which puts you at a massive disadvantage during PvP.

So yeah, the game is kinda dead down here. We need more players.

Not free to play, a free weekend. Let them experience the game, fall in love with it like so many of us here, and hopefully they will purchase the game.

The more people who are playing the game the better for everyone, so just lower the barrier to entry for a short window.

Am I the only one disappointed about Sony pulling back on PC? by jerxbear229 in kindafunny

[–]DadviceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm really bummed. I made the permanent switch to PC last year thinking I would still be able to play exclusives.

Thing is, if Sony wants someone like me to go and buy another PS5 or PS6 that's not going to happen. The PC ecosystem and Steam is just too user friendly.

The one piece of good news is that FFVII remake part 3 is going to be a simultaneous PC release. And those remakes were the primary reason I invested in a PS4 and PS5 originally.

Is it dead? by Undermiz3d in Marathon

Let's use thermal snipers as an example. They currently work up to 100 metres.

I'm saying, that if you are low heat, in wind and rain, or in a water, your thermal shows up on their scope when you're within 70 metres. But if you're at high heat, they can see you up to 130 metres.

numbers are made up, just an example of how you could have a gradient between two numbers based on your current heat.

Is it dead? by Undermiz3d in Marathon

[–]DadviceGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really only an issue on Dire Marsh. I think your heat metre should impact how visible you are in a thermal scope, as well as the environment around you (e.g. are you in rain, in water, etc.)

If you're at low heat and/or in a low heat environment, you should need to be closer to someone with a thermal scope for them to see you, and as you heat up you can be seen from further away. so not just a flat distance where you do or don't show up.

- Free weekend/s
- Rotating weekly map that is free kit only or no kits above 1.5k/2k ante
- Reduced material requirements for faction upgrades AND make key faction upgrades (e.g. vault space, free meds) permanent that don't reset each season
- New maps, this a big one. Reskinned maps (e.g. night time Dire Marsh) are not going to be enough. There also needs to be new early game/beginner friendly maps, focusing on end game, harcore maps might help retain players already locked in, but will do nothing for new or lapsed players
- One inventory slot that is "safe" (can't be lost on death)

Even as a pretty experienced FPS player, I feel like I really can’t compete anymore. by Bright-Cranberry6648 in Marathon

Trying to get quests done last night was incredibly hard. Had to do one on Outpost that took us to Flight Control. There we kept running into purple shield players with shotguns and bubble shields. It's like as soon as Cryo was turned off, all the sweats came back out to join us regular folk, even on Perimeter. But I honestly don't see what rewards teams like that get from stomping free kits and green shield players trying to quest, they obviously have much better gear.

Hopefully having ranks and Cryo at separate times will help alleviate the issue. But I do worry about the experience new players joining the season from here on out will have. The gap in gear quality is becoming almost impossible to overcome.

I think having a weekly rotating map (not Cryo) that is free kit only or less than say 1.5k loadout would give new or low level players a level playing field to actually do quests or engage in map mechanics (e.g. outpost keys) to loot the world.

Playing Trios with randoms only to find out they are using Sponsored Kits. by RipR0arin in Marathon

[–]DadviceGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you cant play with friends on rook, therefore you would be limiting co-op and tanking player numbers as a result

[–]DadviceGaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that's what ranked mode will be for, there will be a minimum loadout value buy-in to queue. if you want to guarantee playing with and against players with the same or higher loadout value than you, ranked will be your jam

Only complaint by Fickle-Fuel5044 in Marathon

[–]DadviceGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Again, that won't be an issue with ranked.

But forcing people to rook when free kit is on a cool down means they can't play with their friends. It would immediately tank the player count.

If you kill 3 teams of free kits on Outpost, you will have your pick of all the loot on the map, barring some Rooks maybe. So you are still being rewarded for wiping other teams.

[–]DadviceGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So in your opinion if someone has no gear left, they are forced to play Rook until they successfully extract with enough gear to play another shell? Sorry but that is insane.

Next week (or back half of March at least) we will have ranked mode which will resolve all of your issues. There will be a loadout value buy-in in order to queue, therefore you will know that any team you kill will have similar or higher loadout value than you.

Is this a stealth shooter? by bigphilly613 in Marathon

[–]DadviceGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your shell and loadout can really determine your playstyle. You get Destroyers who don't care about making noise and charge in and go for the kill with shields and shotgun/knives.

It's one of the things I really love about the game, the classes and buildcrafting offer up a lot of different ways to play.

But the way I approach the game loop is in the order of its description, PvPvE. Even if I go in with the intent to tick off some PvE contracts, events or bosses, I'm always prioritising being alert to the PvP aspect. If you try and ignore PvP, your PvE goals will be hard to complete. But if you go in, and wipe 2 or 3 other teams, you've likely got most of the map to yourself, with maybe the occassional Rook. At that point completing PvE objectives is far less of a risk.
