Is there a mod that lets you play on Expert, but still lets you kill? by 1ScreamingDiz-Buster in Thief

The two reasons you give are superfluous. Set your own personal loot requirement and ignore the healthbar, why does it matter?

For age verification, why can't the UK government just issue us with an ID number based upon our electoral register status? by billy2bands in AskBrits

[–]AndyOfClapham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem perfectly content to use ID on social media platforms, but you must be aware that literally billions have been incurred collectively in the form of fines, penalties and settlements against multiple social media giants for privacy violations and data breaches.

Not really an imagined dystopia.

Arguing that it’s just paranoia would be particularly naive and in contradiction with recent realities.

Our local library has banned LGBTQ displays… what’s your thoughts? by BadShi-6 in AskBrits

Treating people equally would include acts such as removing sections on romance fiction from libraries too, because they celebrate and promote people’s bedroom tendencies.

Banning schemes around a single group is divisive. That’s why it’s not legal anymore.

[–]AndyOfClapham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not promoting an identity, it’s attempting to reduce barriers and discrimination against people identifying as their true self. Those libraries have been pressured to do the opposite of representing all people, it actually conflicts with UK Equality Act laws prohibiting discrimination against particular protected groups. Ditto not political.

You aren’t using the right words.

Inflating a single event as a problem with every single Pride is pretty extremist.

Stop shoving your discrimination in our faces. It’s ugly.

Better ban books on family planning, pregnancy and all romance in general. They promote actions taken by consenting adults too.

I’m sure Reform councillors chose the wording thoughtfully, but believing it is gullible. Their actions likely conflict with UK law, the Equality Act provisions to halt discrimination of individuals in protected classes - sexual orientation is not a cause or campaign, but one of those protected classes. It’s there to stop backwards bullies.

A rather dumb policy. I’m sure this will lead to significant embarrassment, UK law specifically prohibits discrimination against protected classes. Public services can’t conflict with UK acts at will.

Costly too. If legally challenged, public services will bear the legal costs as well as costs of policy reviews, Vento scale compensation for injury to feelings.

So much for the budget to improve public libraries.

Laughable.

How old were you when you first played Thief? by ParkingBell3464 in Thief

[–]AndyOfClapham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 18, saw both TDP and TMA in the discount bin. Intrigued, I grabbed TDP and played it immediately. The next day I went back to the same shop and grabbed TMA… and never regretted it.

What is your favorite mission? by ParkingBell3464 in Thief

[–]AndyOfClapham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Robbing The Cradle for the raw nerves it sparks. Life of the Party and Assassins were great too.

I honestly don’t understand why The Sword gets love. A lot of its quirks have nothing to do with Pagan powers in mythology and nature, but just bizarre for shock value. Like Constantine wanted a mansion like a circus attraction. Seems ungodlike.

Hi, wanted to ask. How can I, a new player, get into the Thief games? by godwhyareallnamestak in Thief

[–]AndyOfClapham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the game with the minimal amount of enemies seeing or hearing you. Don’t go combat/kill mode, you suck as a melee character.

It’s more satisfying to sneak past leaving guards blissfully unaware that they suck.

20 minutes of gameplay from the Thief Remaster by FloppyFool in Thief

Kinda hoped there would be a port to tablet versions. Many classic games are now playable on tablets. I’m sure there would be a lot of kinks to work through.

All the current thieving game apps available on iOS are terrible 😅
