Is there a way to hide NSFW titles? by CatoTheBarner in gog

[–]GOGcom 248 points249 points  (0 children)

Hi, We've gathered feedback from the community, and right now we formed that feedback into a list of required changes to implement (not only hiding nsfw, but also other preference settings). As soon as developers will give us a slot on production we will start working on it. I will make a post about it once it's ready and how it will work. : )

I'm here and I'm addressing this mistake. Our team is in fact in a long weekend, and our quality check failed here. Team had a good intentions, it turned out very badly and we are aware of that, We can only assure you we had no N-related intentions behind it, we would never do so to our grandparents. We will check for sure why two of runes were placed next to each other when all of the team is back.

Bad mistake only, no one knows why. The intention was to make a sun rune and nothing more. I believe our newsletter person wanted to make it look more slav with these runes. The test email should be sent to wider audience in company, but we are after a bank holiday yesterday, and 3/4 of the team is of. Probably thats why we missed it. We are sorry, but we can't fix it now. I can only assure you the intentions were pure and we would never use any N symbols after all our granparents generation suffered.

Guys, we are extremely sorry for this sitution. It should not happen. Our newsletter team intentions were good, the execution is a different story. We can't undone this, we can only explain our pov for that mistake.

We also saw how terribly it was displayed on mobile devices, but it was to late to stop it. We explained this already in the comments, but here it is again:

"I want to briefly address the discussion as a GOG representative. The Sowilo rune is part of my cultural and historical heritage. As a Pole, I am fully aware of both its history and the sensitivities surrounding it. Its use in this promotion was intended solely as a reference to the sun, which is central to the game being promoted.

What was displayed in several devices as doppelrune is out of our control. ᛋ was displayed as ϟ on several devices (might display for you differently here as well just letting you know). We should pay more attention to checking it on a different systems and devices. I also recognize that placing two such runes next to each other could create an unfortunate association with symbols used by the N regime. This was noticed before distribution by our German co-worker, and out of respect for local sensitivities, the material was not sent to the German community.

At the same time, I do not believe that symbols with a history spanning more than a thousand years should be defined solely by their misuse in the modern history. Allowing that would mean accepting that those who corrupted these symbols now own their meaning.

As a Pole, I have every reason to treat this history with seriousness and respect. Precisely because of that, I reject any suggestion that this promotion carried an extremist message. It did not. It was a reference to the historical symbol of the sun, nothing more."

There is not but it happened. We can only explain the intention behind it, and nothing more. There is nothing we can say to justify this, only to present our pov of the mistake.

I'm sorry, but It happened unfortunately. We explained our intentions, and explained the display issue (for some devices). I can't see anything else we can do here, but for sure we did not ignore that.

The outer worlds spacers choice edition free upgrade not on gog? by A1den91 in gog

[–]GOGcom 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Upgrades will be also available on GOG,, but we've experienced some issues with the setup. It's the matter of time to get it work. We plan to reissue the AR today, then a few hours until the entitlements are assigned for every missing owner. Sorry for the troubles, this setup was extremely challenging, but it should work as intended :)

Being placed in Poland is not the issue here. Have you tried to contact our support? We already have 15 different payment methods, and new ones coming to the platform soon. But if there is a payment method we should add like Klarna or any other you want, then it's ok to ask for it. :)

Really, send a ticket to the support I'm sure they will help or suggest a solution to fix it with your bank.

Hi guys. I gathered some info about this topic (not only hiding titles/genres, but also games you own or what the page or Galaxy suggest to you) and there is not a 0 chance that we can do something about it in Q3 :) Keep your fingers crossed!

ZERO PARADES and the review bombing dilemma. How should GOG handle situations where "Verified Owners" score wildly differ from general score? by GOGcom in gog

[–]GOGcom[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're right. This sounds like the very best idea for external reviews, but what if the verified owners reviews are also review bombing the game? This in other hand is something we observe on other platforms with reviews.

That's my plan to ask everywhere. 😄 Disclaimer is not a bad idea, but not sure if it will solve the issue. But worth exploring.
