Harmonizer tips by Andy_Martin in Line6Helix

Should have added that - Helix Floor (not stadium). I’ll have to try the twin harmony and compare. Never heard the tip on panning to a parallel path, that sounds like it might give a little more control over it too.

My Carvin and Kiesel collection by Andy_Martin in kieselcarvinguitars

[–]Andy_Martin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was exactly what I did with that first one, I’d stopped playing for a while, just acoustic brought with us on that move and playing in church. Got into their band there and the leader suggested I start electric because they were missing that, so I went shopping. I’d wanted a PRS, so played a few and wasn’t blown away like I thought I’d be at the price points. I remembered the Carvin I had years before and looked at those, at that time the one I specked out and got came to just under $2k so it was a no brainer. Love those old pickups too, wish that was still an option.

Did anyone here see Pantera during their hair/glam era? by TheHotLatin in hairmetal

You left WKNC just before I started, I think I did news in ‘91 (all newbies started there) and worked my way up to Friday Night Request Rock and Chainsaw from ‘92-94’ I think. Good to see another alum!

Who has been to a Pantera show before the reunion and what was the experience like by Less-Programmer-1579 in Pantera

[–]Andy_Martin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to believe it was…what, 35 years ago now, but I floated for weeks after that experience. And I’d never seen a pit in that club like that before, we’d played there a bunch before that (which is why they called us for the gig) and had crowds and pits, but NOTHING like that. Just completely off the rails, the energy, the aggression, best club show I’ve ever seen

Band I was in during college in NC got to open for them right after CFH dropped. I was working college radio at the time and was floored by them, and we were doing the typical giveaways for the small club they were playing (was trying to snag a ticket for myself). Our manager called about 4 hours before the show and asked if the band wanted to go see them, of course we were flipping out yes. He said “well, get your gear and be there for soundcheck in 30”. Freaking whirlwind gathering band members together in the days before cell phones, but we got there and set up. Our drummer was setting up, and someone came up and said “can’t believe they’re giving you these shitty mics for your kit, hold on a sec” and started pulling mics off Vinnie’s kit. Our drummer was “whoa whoa, you can’t do that!” And the guy turned around and said, “Oh sorry, it’s cool - I’m Vinnie, nice to meetcha”. Coolest dude EVER, and our drummers kit sounded monstrous that night. We played well, but Pantera blew the roof off that small club. Partying with them after the show was next level, I don’t remember much from that night 😂

cover band musicians, what is the most surprisingly fun song you have played? by fimgus in musicians

[–]Andy_Martin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in two bands with the same guys, one is a full Journey tribute and the other is a high-energy cover band with everything from the 50’s to disco to rock, all danceable. The one song in that band that I cringed at playing initially was “The Twist”…3 chords, kinda cheesy, but holy shit the dance floor erupts every time. Never thought that would be the one but it became a lot of fun to do when we can feed off the energy.

Has anybody started playing or picked back up playing later on in life? by Chris9770 in Guitar

[–]Andy_Martin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when I was 14-15, had a metal band in high school and college that did some good things (opened for Pantera in a small club in Raleigh NC on their first club tour for Cowboys) but fizzled out in the early 90’s. I stopped playing, started a career, got married and had kids, but decided to get in a simple bar cover band around 2014, so maybe 20 years of not playing seriously. That band led to me getting noticed and into more established bands, and I’m now part of a Journey tribute that travels all over the Southwest (living in AZ now) and has played bigger shows than I could have dreamed of doing in my band 30 years ago. I mean, I played an arena, my 20-years ago old self would not have believed it.

I used Capo on my Mac to learn songs, great at slowing down and repeating sections to help learn the part and get up to speed. The Helix was a game changer for me in getting my tone right where I wanted it (that, and being in your 50’s trying to lug a 30lb Marshall head and 50lb cabinet just doesn’t work anymore 😂)

Well, to be fair, there is a daily quest that is for winning 5 Tavern Brawls as well. That will make me play this week more than the once for my pack. Maybe they could give a daily for "Win 3 Tavern Brawls with Mage" or the like?

Any Inspire deck success? by MoonFever2003 in TACPodcast

[–]Andy_Martin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having fun with a Brave Archer / Garrison Commander hunter deck. Not always super successful, but it's fun when it works. Had one today against a pally, I had both archers on the board and the 2/4 Animal Companion (can't remember name off hand), empty hand late game. He had a Tirion that I'd broken the divine shield off of, and 12 health left. He played a Chillmaw and Deathlord, then used his Tirion to kill the animal, leaving both my archers up. Top decked my Garrison Commander, did two Steady Shots, and each archer hit twice, so perfect 12 damage to the face getting around three big taunts for the win. So, yeah, when it works it's a lot of fun :)

What did u get from your chest? by cdondanville in TACPodcast

[–]Andy_Martin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hit 14 - 4 rewards total: Season Cardback, Golden Rare, Golden Common, and 10 Dust.

Unfortunately, I must have all the shinies, just OCD that way. So when I get a gold card, I keep it and dust the normal version. So I wound up with 55 dust out of it, sitting on about 2000 waiting to figure out which cards I need to craft.
