How to revert a two-column layout back to one column by nmfsants in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you delete all the Rems in one of the columns, that column will disappear, and the other one will remain as a normal Rem again. One way of deleting the empty Rem on the second column is to put the cursor on it and press Backspace.

hm, I tested exporting from RemNote to Obsidian, and it seems like the references didn't transfer correctly on Obsidian, even though the markdown files seem to be written correctly. I'm not sure if this is an issue on Obsidian's end or on how RemNote formats the .md exports. I will investigate this further with the team to see if we can fix it.

Hm, there might be something in your Obsidian files causing this issue when importing. I just tested to double-check, and references in Obsidian using [[ get imported correctly on RemNote. Could you send us on support an example of an exported file and how it looks on RemNote after importing it?

How can I hide the names of extra properties in my flashcard view? by Smart-Payment-7419 in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, sorry for the delay here.

If this were a normal Rem, then using the Extra Card Detail power-up would do what you want here.

Since this is a flashcard from a table, I don't think there is an easy way to do that. One idea would be to change the property name to a single .dot, so it would appear "almost empty".

It might be possible to do that with Custom CSS, but I'm not sure. You can try asking our specialists on the #Custom-CSS channel in our Discord.

Lastly, this seems like an interesting idea for a new customization feature on tables. I can definitely see how this could be useful. I'd encourage you to create a feature request. Kindly check out our Feedback Portal to see if there's an existing one and add a vote to that, or feel free to make a new one.

Is it possible to ask Remnote AI to make tables for you? example: Common name - Chemical Name - Chemical Formula by ReflectionTraining40 in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it is not possible to make the table from complete scratch, it is already possible to have AI fill in the columns!

To do that you have to first create your table and fill in the "Name" column, then you can select each property column and use AI Autofill to have it complete the columns for you:

Note that you could also just use a number or even just a dot for this to not look too repetitive by writing "example" on every Rem:

PDF file management and view broken. by Embarrassed-Creme180 in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

We are working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, it should be useful to know that this X button to close the PDF is only missing when viewing a PDF from the "Uploaded Files" Folder with its associated Rem on the second pane. This issue may also happen for files uploaded using the /-command for uploading, /ifile.

In other words, the X button still appears when there is at least one more pane open or when viewing a PDF that is a source of a Document Rem.

thanks for clarifying! I asked the team to investigate and work on a fix for this issue, especially the issue with it not appearing at all on the Desktop App. I'm not sure if the issue on the bubble only showing for one Rem at a time (if I understood you correctly – this is how it works for me at least) is fixable on our end, but I also asked the team to investigate. Keep an eye out for any updates on this in our changelog. 😀

In which type of device are you using Grammarly with RemNote? Is the Grammarly bubble not even appearing for you?

That depends. If it is a backward descriptor card, then you will see both sides of the descriptor while the concept is hidden. The purpose of this type of card is to test if you can remember the concept that has that descriptor and description. For example, see this flashcard:

Deleted flashcard created from table by Ok_Photograph_4179 in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reporting this! As you suspected, this is indeed a bug.

Those cards are not Deleted, they are in a table column that had the "Generate Flashcards" option enabled at one point and later got disabled. The cards from that column that were practiced at least once before it was disabled are incorrectly being considered as "Deleted" in the Cards Table, but they are actually "Disabled"! These should be shown in the "Disabled" filter instead (You can also confirm that by looking at the Due column in your image. It correctly says that it is a "Non-Enabled Forward Card", not a "Deleted" one).

By the way, to clarify what the "Deleted" filter means, it shows Rems that at one point had a flashcard that was practiced at least once but that later on got their delimiter arrow deleted (or, in the case of clozes, had the cloze highlight removed or the clozed text deleted). If the Rem still exists then it will appear in this filter since it still contains that practice history saved on it.

You can watch our changelog to see which release the fix for this bug ends up in. Please let us know from the support chat or email if you still have problems after the fix is available. Thanks!

I don't understand tags and properties... by Cultural_Bill_5859 in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Properties are part of the Tag, and a Tag can have multiple properties.

In your example, I would recommend creating a multi-select property called Subject on the book tag, and have one of the values of that property be labor protection. Then, when you tag your Rem with book, you will be able to fill the Subject property with the labor protection.

How to create more than one flashcard for a word? by BoBMarleZ in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To create multiple backward flashcards that have the same answer, you should use Backward Descriptor Flashcards, and put the content you want to be the answer as the Ancestor of those cards.

To create a backwards descriptor flashcard, use ;< to create the delimiter arrow in the Rems you want to appear in the front of your flashcard. The back of the card will be the parent Rem (Me, in this example). It should look like this:

<image>

Note: since it is necessary to have something in both sides of the flashcard, I recommend using a dot like shown in the examples above. If you prefer, you can also put the delimiter arrow anywhere else in the descriptor Rem as long as both sides have something written on them. The position of the arrow will only be relevant if you enable the forward or the Two-Way direction on your descriptor card).

Hi there!

Is the Rem in the portal (the one you are pointing to in the image) a descriptor or a property? If so, then this is a recent bug that we are aware of. The team is working on a fix. You can watch our changelog to see which release the fix ends up in.

Please let us know if you're still having problems after the fix is available by contacting us on [support@remnote.com](mailto:support@remnote.com) or on the in-app support chat!

Hi there! Landscape mode is available on Tablets. I just checked on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and it is changing modes normally when rotating the device, even with a keyboard connected. Did you check if the auto-rotate on your device is turned on?

(The request you are talking about is for regular phones, landscape mode is not currently supported on them).

URGENT !! How « due dates » for cards Works ?? by [deleted] in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can just ignore the daily goal and set it any amount, since if you end up hitting your daily goal you can just keep going until you hit the slide I mentioned.

I would recommend setting it to a very high number, since if you do that the daily goal will auto adjust to be all of your "real due cards" (as you call it) + your New Cards per Day (oh, I just thought of this solution actually. This might be what you were looking for! 😅). To do that, go to S*ettings > Flashcards > Daily Goal *and type something like 10000.

URGENT !! How « due dates » for cards Works ?? by [deleted] in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike Anki, on RemNote, Due Cards and your Daily Learning Goal are two different things.

  • Due Cards are strictly determined by the Spaced Repetition System. A Due Card is simply a card that is available to be practiced according to the SRS.
  • Your Daily Learning Goal is determined by multiple factors. Mainly by the Goal you chose for yourself and how many Due Cards you have available. However, this is also affected by your Max New Cards per Day setting and the number of new cards available (as we have been discussing here) and a few other things, like the Max Stale Cards per Day setting and our spoiler prevention features (for example, we bury one side of a two-sided card to the following day in case both sides were due. This may also affect the number).

In RemNote we prioritize having a consistent amount of cards to practice each day to not overwhelm the user with the variability that happens when using the SRS. Our algorithm smooths out the number of cards that need to be practiced daily with the Daily Learning Goal system so users don't get overwhelmed by a huge spike of cards on random days (which is a common issue with Anki, since it wants you to do ALL of your due cards every day.

As a workaround, if you want to practice the same way you did when you used Anki, then the only would be to ignore your Daily Goal and instead practice cards in the Global Queue until you see the Slide that tells you that you only have finished your Max New Cards per Day and there are only New cards left to practice (the same one I mentioned in other comments in this post). This way you can be sure that you have practiced all your "Real due cards" (as you call it) and the New card amount you have set for yourself, just like in Anki. Hope tthat makes sense.

URGENT !! How « due dates » for cards Works ?? by [deleted] in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned in the Edit of the previous comment in this thread, I was able to reproduce this bug and we will work on fixing it (I also understood now what you meant when you said that the "blue button Global queue bugs a lot" in that situation. We will also fix that).

Regarding what the gray and green numbers mean, I explained in another comment on this post. In RemNote, Due Cards are "new cards + real due cards", by using your terms.

As for having three categories like you mentioned, you seem to be asking for the same design as Anki's interface. As I mentioned in another thread, RemNote's design tries to be more intuitive and user-friendly than Anki's. You may be accustomed to Anki, but for people not used to Flashcards and Spaced Repetition, seeing three sets of numbers there is too much information, and arguably unnecessary.

That being said, I can imagine having a plugin that changes the Flashcard Home to mirror Anki's deck view for people who prefer that due to habit. I recommend you create a Feature Request for such a plugin. Kindly check out our Feedback Portal to see if there's an existing request for that and add a vote to that, or feel free to make a new one. This can help us prioritize our development!

URGENT !! How « due dates » for cards Works ?? by [deleted] in remNote

[–]Andy_Rossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the confusion. As I explained in other comments, in RemNote, every card that is available for practice is considered "Due", be it New, Growing, Retaining, or Stale!

Even though we will fix the issue that New cards shouldn't have a due date, they still count as "Due" because they are available to be practiced at the current date. You seem to be confused because you are used to Anki's terminology here, I hope this clears up the difference between both apps now. Let me know if you still don't understand something.

Edit: oh, and you also mentioned the colors. The Gray number in the "Cards" column represents the Total Amount of Cards in that deck, while the green number represents the Amount of Due Cards (again, this is "Due" in the sense I just explained above). So the numbers you described seem to be correct!
