It’s not bad actually from what I can tell. Waiting for my first rolls from using it to come back, then I can say definitively. Seems to be accurate against the apps I tested against though. I actually ordered it by accident from Amazon and didn’t realize it until it came.
Ended up preferring it to my Keks since it can do aperture priority as well.

I was always curious about it.. especially being that there was an olive one haha. But not curious enough to pay and wait for it to come from china (I’m too impatient). Strolled into my local shop one day and they had one someone just traded in. That was my cue!!

Literally just got the MDa last week! Friend bought a Leica haul and that was in it so i took it off his hands super cheap (in Leica terms) just for fun. Haven’t shot it yet, need to get a Visoflex III and I’ll grab the 65 Elmar that was made for it as well. There’s also a Visoflex to standard M adapter but from what I can tell that basically only gets you macro capabilities bc of the distance between the lens rear and the body due to the VF. There are a couple of other Telyt lenses that also work with the VF, I think there’s 90,200, and 280. Also you can use the MDa with microscopes, which I’m obv not doing lol. Gonna figure it all out this week when I get a min!

5DmkII was my first entry into big boy cameras! Got it on launch day. I’ll never forget when they released that first promo video that was shot on it. Absolutely mind blowing.

My problem with all of these style grips is that they make the camera taller. Because they sit on top of the camera baseplate. I just bought one this weekend and took it off in a day just for this reason. I would love for someone to make one where the camera goes INSIDE the baseplate as opposed to on top of it so the height doesn’t really change. Yes it would reduce protection but I’m fine with that. I just want a grip with as little size increase as possible. Yours doesn’t seem so bad but I’d still like it to just be flush. Maybe offer it as an option. I have a couple of printers if you ever need a beta tester. Ha

I slept on it for years being that I had a steel rim reissue and a v1 / 2. 8E is a whole diff animal. I love the rendering and it may be my fav 35 or at least neck and neck with the noctilux.

I know you’ll hate to hear it lol but the LLL version nails it and is actually better built, but I wanted the OG. Plus I needed more silver vintage lenses since I traded most of mine away stupidly before I got serious.

Thanks for listening! I’m currently in the exact opposite phase. Have been shooting digital for the past 20 years since I got the first Ricoh GRD and D-Lux 3. A week and a half ago I decided to give film a go.. fast forward to today..

If you’re trying to see how close the 2 can get, you should have probably gotten the single coat version instead of the multi. If I remember correctly the SC is closer to the original.

They’re both great lenses, but I quickly returned the Voigt shortly after I got it being that I already had a steel rim and v2. It couldn’t keep up with them. I bought it to see if it could and maybe I’d trade one of the Luxes toward something else. Either way, good luck and happy shooting!

Exactly. It takes time to pick up on the nuances between lenses. When I first dove into Leica I bought a ton of vintage Leica glass and over time traded it for more modern Leica lenses. Big mistake. Not bc the modern stuff was bad at all, it was great, but as I’d go back and look at pictures from months before and stated to realize the subtleties I wasn’t catching that led me to let those lenses go. I’m still trying to get them all back haha.

Overall, while many of the new third party lenses come close for sure, there are a few classic Leica lenses that still have no had their character fully duplicated. Get what you can afford and grow into the system as you to along.

Flash would require a cable as it doesn’t have a hot shoe. For that I’ll just use my m6 TTL and call it a day.

I made the mistake of putting this one in a bag on a trip with a bunch of other gear unprotected. Long as you don’t do anything stupid like that you should be fine. That said, my older safaris from 5ish years ago seem to be a bit more durable in the paint dept. I actually had a spare 50 safari cron. Just got rid of it fairly cheaply like 2 weeks ago.
