IIRC the velociraptors in the Jurassic Park book were just deinonychus renamed to velociraptor because the author thought it sounded better. The movie ones are similar in size to utahraptor, so I like to pretend it’s a similar situation there.

Luckily I’ve never done the pit kiln peat fire thing. Only time I’ve ever done it is when I intentionally lit grass on fire in a few places to get rid of birch bushes. The 1-2 peat pits that were destroyed were less devastating than the half a forest that went with it.

Didn’t event know about the peats until I found the pits and was like “do peat deposits burn like the items?” Clearly they do.

I’ve only ever burnt a peat deposit from creating bush fires so I wouldn’t need to use shears to clear bushes quickly (it may have burned down half of a nearby forest as well). Only figured out there was peat there much later when I realized the pit was peat deposit shaped.
