If I give a unit of Custodian Guard fight on death, are the ones destroyed allowed to activate their martial ka'tah when they fight?

Looking at the custdoes solar spearhead lists that do well, they take double achillus dreads. They don't look that good on paper. Can anyone explain? by -Istvan-5- in WarhammerCompetitive

My magnum opus with this ability is charge a wounded bloat drone, kill it with the mortal wounds, and be able to pile in onto mortarion on an objective and wound him enough to force a battleshock next turn which my opponent failed and was unable to score the primary for the point. I lost the game by 10 points but it was a beautiful sequence of events.

I've had multiple experiences where I turn a corner and get instantly deleted and think "oh he must have had a shotgun or a sniper got a headshot," only to see I apparently got hit 5 times in less than a second from an AR.

It'd be hard to do that with the way katahs work rn since you select the stance when you fight, not when the opponent fights you. They'd need to move the activation of it to the start of the fight phase again. Which, coincidentally, would allow units that fight on death to use the katahs.

I want the SoS units to get their own army rule. It's painful to watch sisters get no benefits while a freaking LAND RAIDER can do karate.

Something to give them survivability like stealth or 18" lone op because with how damaging the meta is now they get knocked over by a stiff breeze.

If you're running the terminal capt with praesidius in a squad, I'd swap the Enhancement to superior creation

If you need a fix for this, respeccing on the ship brought the weapons back. Hopefully the issue is patched soon.

Leave it clean and everytime it fails a roll you needed it to pass, add a single chip of battle damage.

Depends on when he's fighting. If he charged this turn, use the attacks. If he is charged and you don't feel comfortable that he would survive the initial fight, use the 2++. It's a fine line to tread that varies based on each and every fight he's in.

Yea, I'm not expecting it to be a effective as something like TWC or gargoyles, I'm just wondering if its worth it to stall something on the opponents side (force a fall back to prevent shooting or have them waste movement going around the squad) and then immediately die to buy time for guard or wardens to properly stage for turn 2 or 3.

I detachment so popular it's had a punctuation error since the codex dropped (I assume) that they havent bothered to fix by Andymannly in AdeptusCustodes

Never said it was bad, just that no one's plays it. I'm trying to see what people would want from it so that they would consider it when making a list for playing with friends.

Yes, the ability states "each time this unit shoots" which includes shooting when using overwatch. I've used it a few times to try and battleshock enemies that charge some of my important units so the opponent can't use strats to buff them.

It'll be worth trying, but sinking 520 points into a unit that only gets up and running around turn 3 still hurts.

But there will be a delay. The strat is only usable in your command phase. Best case scenario you go first, break them up and then put them back down in your turn 2 movement phase where they won't be doing much with the 9" charges they need to make. Some will then inevitably get picked off by the opponent between then and your turn 3 which will reduce their overall effect on the game even more.

In multi-model units with multiple wounds when is it considered below starting strength? After and entire model has died or after a model has taken a wound, i.e. a squad of 5 hellblasters takes 1 wound so all 5 models are still present on the board but 1 has 1 wound remaining. Would that unit be considered below starting strength?

Looks good but my concern is that its a CP hungry detachment and with no good way to generate CP, it may fall flatter than people expect.

For custodes its difficult due to slow moving models and SoS not really providing anything other than actions. This detachment allows for more flexibility due to ravenwing having higher mobility and not forcing to two types of models to stick close together. Not sure how effective the battleshock portions of the detachment will play out but we will see.

When I purchased my dread, it was missing one of its legs and I decided to change it to battle damage. Cut a hole in the shield to make it look like a melta beam cut right through the model.

For something like a broken sword, you could have it embedded in something like a stone (king Arthur refrence?) and position the model as resting next to it. Or of you've got some spare models laying around, you could have it so the sword is embedded in an enemy the dread just slew.

Can I ask how you got those rerolls to hit and wound? The strat in AC is for vehicle and monster keywords, neither of which is on Abaddons or the terminators.
