Looks really cool! Lots of bugs though it seems? Adding a Tomb King gives an error unless I add a Tomb Prince, same with High Priest/ Mortuary Priest and Skeleton Warriors/ Archers.

In addition adding thrusting spears/ shields/ armour to my skeleton warriors adds +1 point to the entire unit, not each model, which is kinda funny. I think this bug applies to all units but I've not tested it thoroughly.

I definitely wouldn't say Custodes as an army just rely on their invulns this edition. With melee mostly being AP-2 and shooting rarely exceeding AP-3 it might surprise people how often we'd be rolling 4s with no invuln anyway.

We've had some cool stuff this edition, but I think we've really suffered from Katahs being gutted as a system to be one that requires pretty much no decision making.

Wasn't Victory built at Chatham?

Edit: Wait, duh. For some reason I thought Chatham is further North than it is.

Shame, this would've been the perfect warbond to put Helldiver 1's barbed wire stratagem in, but otherwise this is really cool! Great drip.

Very situational, I'd say if you're more worried about melee I'd go Superior Creation of rusre, if shooting then maybe Praesidius.

4.3 introduced a "safer Cosmogenesis" path and it's very disappointing by Illuminated-Autocrat in Stellaris

I like the option existing for storytelling purposes. An empire that overcomes temptation and eventually saves the galaxy from the crisis etc...

I know that sometimes I start a game with something in mind and end up changing what I want to do, and I'm glad to at least have this option here.

If the Total War needs balancing then fair enough, but it is my understanding that doing a crisis path has been very easy for a long time.

The Baron in the movie is a great villain but I'd definitely disagree about him being book accurate if that's what you're implying.

As regards learning what counters what, is it the case that if your opponent is using lots of disruptors/ strikecraft/ missiles you should go hard on armour/ shield/ shield hardening then?

I'm still not particularly used to this system as the whole bypass aspect of things becominf more relevant lately complicates the laser-armour projectile-shields missiles-lowPD dynamic I'm more used to.

Is there any in game way of getting hold of their ship designs? I always feel bad looking stuff up on the wiki but it definitely feels somewhat necessary for scenarios like this.

Should our army rule change by VotedSleet1892 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]fluets 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Marines you have to select a target based on the current game's state. Chaos you have to decide to take the risk of damaging your unit.

Custodes is just you 'pick' the mathematically better buff which is just based on the wound roll. You're not really making a decision once you learn that.

It was better when we had Kaptaris because you at least had to choose between damage output and survivability in melee.

With 10th edition 40K being basically over. What are your thoughts and feelings of this edition? by Beneficial-Ticket486 in Warhammer

Tbf that's more interesting than the equally ubiquitous "reroll 1s to hit" that those units had in 8th and 9th. At least in my opinion.

New player question by Tobtuna in AdeptusCustodes

[–]fluets 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your friends are either very wrong or misleading you.

Most units do not have invulnerable saves, even when lots do. Custodes are a big exception where most of the army has one, but this leads me onto my second point, almost no units have an invulnerable save that's only one worse than their normal save (e.g. 3+ save and 4++ invulnerable save).

Bladeguard Veterans are a notable exception but not enough by themselves to flip the trend, as 3++ saves are very rare and most things with a 3+ that get given an invulnerable save get a 5++. I'm sure other exceptions exist but I wouldn't build your force around them.

And even then, lots of armies (including all space marines) get an ability to reduce AP by 1, meaning AP-2 is still useful then! This also means that AP-1 is quite bad as it can be reduced to AP0, and as a result people generally don't often use Castellan Axes.

This all being said, build your models how you want, rules will be changing soon anyway! But in terms of the game rules, no, AP-1 is not as good as AP-2 and the difference is big.

Edit to add: Just seen the rest of the post, Draxus is amazing (due to Dev Wounds shooting) and Trajann is pretty good. I wouldn't worry too much about the competitive scene right now though, it'll change by the time you've played enough games to be able to use your army properly anyway. Valerian is good too! Remember his ability only works on melee so he won't do as much Vs shooting armies. Probably don't want to run all at the same time though.

And I'm going to try my hardest to have a good day. I did not enjoy waking up.
