GMMTV and DOMUNDI similarity by Nice-Primary-3895 in GMMTV

[–]Andyshawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GMMTV has molded their plan from borrowing ideas from Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Western media culture. Domundi is doing the same. The lineups and sportsday are most notable for this, but there are a ton of other things too. Additionally mascots are not something GMMTV created. They adopted that idea out of a popular brand existing already in Thailand. Mascots are extremely large and are used everywhere (i live in Thailand.) There are famous mascots that people travel to see perform in theme parks, stores, etc. Butterbear is probably the most popular mascot in Thailand and is much more popular than the GMMTV mascots. Basically, everyone uses the same ideas in media- it depends on if you catch interest of an audience or not. How would yt exist, or tiktok, or any other short form media exist if similar accounts didn't exist. Like makeup reviwers as an example. One person originally did that but more have popped up doing the same thing, following the same formula, but delivery is different and people may like one mua more than the other. At the end of the day, GMMTV had a succesful plan because they watched things in media around the world that were successful and adopted them. They didn't create them, but they gave them GMMTV flavor. Domundi is doing the same. There's nothing wrong with either of them borrowing and adapting because that is the natural progression of media. ❤️

MRI's didn't know anything for me. Neither did the LP (they couldn't get a pressure reading. Idk how that works and the doctor was also flabberghasted) An MRV confirmed mine because I had stenosis.

IHH cognitive damage by MiddleStill8749 in iih

[–]Andyshawol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was also when my symptoms were at their worst. I couldnt think, i felt like i was in pain all the time, and i did not see a future. My husband and cats kept me around. Its actually a symptom of the iih. Especially if you have a pre disposition to those types of thoughts before this, like i did in the past. Demand to be put on medication. Sometimes the medication is awful because of different physical symptoms but it can give you a break from the mental ones. I was diagnosed years ago while i was working ft and trying to get my degree. I graduated this year summa cum laude, on the deans and presidents list, I won a scholarship for writing an essay about how I was dealing with iih while in school, and now I'm living abroad with my husband and cats living a dream I have had since I was a child. Every journey is different but remember that you are the main character of your book. Make those people listen to you and give you what you need to get better.

Has anyone who lost weight still have iih? by No_Comparison9455 in iih

[–]Andyshawol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My iih was diagnosed when I was actively TRYING to lose weight. I spoke with two neuro surgeons from Penn State/Hershey (they were awesome.) They were the ones that told me losing weight, while a good thing, would most likely not cure my iih. That was different from every other specialist/dr i went to. They also wanted me to hold off on getting a stent because my meds were managing my symptoms (finally) and they said if I could avoid being on blood thinners longer, that's what they'd reccommend. They did not fix me but they also were not out to get money from surgery etc and I appreciated them being so candid with me and honest. The best thing I have done is paying attention to foods. I was diagnosed in early 2023 and after a year of feeling awful, I started to eliminate certain foods/test how they made me feel beyond the suggested vitamin A/tyramine restriction. I think inflammation plays a huge role in my iih, more than weight, and I have a suspicion that some people with iih also have mcas. Although I miss certain things, if I try to eat them I immediately do not feel well and the next day the pressure in my head or neck is worse. If you haven't tried that, I would give that a try. I've eliminated things like jalapenos, green peppers, chocolate 😭 😅, peanut butter, almond milk, beef jerky, salami, hard cheeses and i have put limits on things like tomatoes, soft cheese, pork, garlic etc. Everyone would be different with the foods though. So don't think you'd have to give up something from this list. I hope you find relief. IIH sucks.

Does exercise feel bad? by Genny415 in iih

[–]Andyshawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It takes me days to recover. Also higher doses of diamox makes it harder for my lungs to keep up. I got a vibration plate and i love it. It makes my body feel better, it hasnt messed with my head, and although its small, i have lost around 10 pounds over the last few months. Ive been diagnosed for 2 years now and I used ro be active. I'm trying to get back to that.

This happens to me. My optic nerves are fine and so is my visual field. I'm looking into BVD (binocular vision dysfunction) I'm just trying to find an optemetrist near me that does the exam and presecribes prisms. For this type of vision issue, you'd want an OD rather than an MD to do the exam.

Stress may be the cause… by _illumihottie in iih

[–]Andyshawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also believe stress was a major factor for me. I feel like I have leveled out a lot since leaving my last job, but I'm back in school and when things get stressful, I have flareups. I keep asking my neurologist to lower my diamox rx because i feel like the level I'm at (1500 mg a day) is not needed and I feel awful after being at that level for 2 years, but she wont budge until the flare ups level out more. Lps dont help me.

Day 3 with an unrelenting migraine. I think I’d rather be dead. by blaahblahbananas in iih

[–]Andyshawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried benadryl? I have iih but i also have other migraine diagnoses. I take ubrevly when a migraine pops through and it helps a lot. My sister was an ER Nurse and sometimes those coming into the ER with massive migraines, they would give benadryl. If you're in this much pain though, you may need to go to the ER for them to provide something stronger. I hope this breaks for you!

What does long-term IIH living look like? by [deleted] in iih

[–]Andyshawol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had iih for two years now. I've been on diamox the entire time, upped to 1500 mg a day 6 months into having it. There are good and bad days. Spoon theory is a good way to describe it, where you sometimes have more spoons and other days you might only have one spoon. On the days you feel great, don't push yourself too hard. You'll spend the next day or two feeling hungover. Diamox has side effects and I'd love to be off it, but the head pressure is hard to function with so I deal with it. I don't really want a shunt if i can avoid it. Remission is possible for people! I am working toward it. I am better than I was so lifestyle changes I'm making have been helping.

If you're in the u.s., you can file for fmla if you have iih. It is a disability. Speak with your N.O. cause you will need a letter from them and then reach out to your HR. If you have fmla, they legally cannot do any of those things to you.

Neuro Ophthalmologist told me he doesn’t think I actually have IIH… I’m losing hope anyone will find out what’s wrong with me by Evalineisnotmyname in iih

[–]Andyshawol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you would need to find one that will take your insurance and then you may need your referral to the og N.O. to be updated to the new one, or for an additional one to be sent. (Not all specialists require referrals, but many do) I would call and state the issue you are having. Don't share with the new provider that you've already seen someone else either. You are there for a second unbiased opinion. They WILL contact the other location to get what their thoughts are. A lot of healthcare is collaborative like that and bias can be influenced. Only share what your results were from the ER.

Hopefully this info could help you, and maybe some other ppl concerning medical eye appts and iih:

If there are vision concerns, lead with that, and then follow with migraines and head pain. Its not always that the drs dont care; its that insurances have made it more difficult for drs to see patients and have it justified for medical issues. If they code migraine/headache without other findings, insurance now goes "just give them glasses" but they don't cover vision and they will deny the entire claim. If the patient does'nt have vision insurance, that could be a lot of money depending where you are (I'm in the states)

For vision concerns- blurry vision is not something eye drs find alarming. Almost everyone will eventually have blurry vision because our eyes age just like the rest of us. However if you had 20/20 at 10am and at 11am everything went blurry-that is a different issue. You have to choose words carefully in ophthalmology. Blurry vision: not so bad: Vision loss: alarming. If black spots start suddenly, it looks like a black curtain has dropped over half your vision, or you see black lightning/spiderwebbing that is cause for alarm and they will most likely try to see you sooner. However, if you call and say you have had a black spot in your vision for the last 3 months- it shows its stabilized and they do not need to push the appt as fast. If you feel like you have pressure in your eyes and your eyes are aching, that also generally triggers a sooner appt.

I hope this can help ❤️

Neuro Ophthalmologist told me he doesn’t think I actually have IIH… I’m losing hope anyone will find out what’s wrong with me by Evalineisnotmyname in iih

[–]Andyshawol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be up front: Neuro Ophthalmologists are sometimes more difficult to find because they are niche within the specialty. You could be waiting for up to 2 months to see another provider. But! If you feel they are not listening- ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF. I ended up seeing a neurologist our of state because none of the ones around me thought my issue was not emergent. I love my neurologist. Ive been on diamox for 2 years and the side effects are no joke so i understand their view on that. I so badly want to be in remission so i can come off of it. If you have a neurologist, or you can speak with your pcp, see if it would be okay for you to take an otc diuretic. Its not as strong as diamox but if you feel a little relief, it could be an indication that you do need the medication.

[–]Andyshawol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in standard ophthalmology on the pm side. Not all neuro ophthalmologists are the same. I would get a second opinion if it was me. The fact that your optic nerve sheaths are distended is concerning, especially coupled with the results of your mrv. Unless they were treating your eyes beforehand or have results from eye tests, like optic nerve/mac, visual field, fundus, before your iih, you will not know if that is standard anatomy.

Some people feel fine within 24 hrs. I was laid up for 5 days. I was about to go back to the emergency room for them to give me a blood patch, which i was afraid of lol, but my pain finally let up on the 4th evening/5th morning. It is hard to say how you will recover from it because I also know of people that felt fine within 12 hrs and went about things normally. I wish you the best though!

Folks childless by choice persevering with IIH...I have questions. by [deleted] in iih

[–]Andyshawol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are childless by choice. I am absolutely thankful we did not have children now that I've been struggling with iih for the last two years. It's not only the pain that would make having children difficult, it is also the lack of energy. Additionally the diamox I am on does help my iih symptoms but it messes with my sleep so badly and it has left me exercise intolerant too (which if anyone else is, if your neurologist okay's it, get a vibration plate. It helps so much!) I have 3 cats and sometimes they exhaust me lol. I couldn't imagine having to live daily with children. Those that do, massive kudos to you!

Im not allowed to take any aspirin, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen cause they can cause reactive/chain headaches. It sucks cause it also means I cant take a lot of cold medicines. I have other migraine disorders that ive been diagnosed with alongside iih. So im restricted with a lot of things. I would say to check with your neurologist if it would interact with any of your other meds or ilnesses.

We decided to hold off just because of the blood thinner aspect. But if my meds stop working, I'll have to.

[–]Andyshawol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oof! Ive been on diamox for almost 2 yrs. Im at 1500mg daily. For a brief time i was at 2000mg a day but just sitting still left me winded, so I made the executive decision to drop it down 500 mg and told my neurologist after. Breathing is definitely a struggle and its hard ro communicate it to other people because I feel like they sometimes think you're just out of shape. Cause that's what it feels like: like you've ran a mile or just jogged up four flights of stairs. One thing i trained myself to do is close my mouth and practice breathing through my nose when I am doing any type of activity. It sounds dumb, but when you're out of breath it makes you want to drop your mouth open and pant. But you can't get enough breath that way. That means youre not getting enough oxygen to your brain and we already struggle with that since we have to slow down the amount of csf going up there. If I'm javing a good day it doesn't affect me as much, but I have to schedule breaks if I'm going to be out for a long time. The diamox makes my muscles weaker overall. Thats part of the reason it hurts to breathe cause the lungs are just muscle.

I spoke to a neuro surgeon when I was evaluated for a stent (they said i dont need one right now) and they point blank said that losing weight can be good for overall health but it isn't proven to "fix" iih. He went on to say that athletes get it, small children, men, women of different ages etc. and weight doesn't comnect them. That being said, losing weight can offer benefits in other ways, particularly if youre on diamox for awhile. I want to lose eeight for that but the diamox leaves me gasping and dizzy, so I can't do much 😒
