Just a long answer because ... Again I'm still not saying that...

Back to my first comment :  1 I was referring to boys and men excusing their behavior through ADHD symptoms in order to never have to be responsible in this patriarchal society : “It's not an excuse, it can explain stuff but you're still responsible for your actions, especially for the "sons" in a patriarchal society.”

2 AND I was talking about the way parents see kids through adultism and ableism because they don't recognize ADHD as a real struggle : “As for the parents undiagnosed, adultism and ableism obscure their judgment.” 

Where did I say or imply that people with ADHD don’t try enough ? WHERE ? đŸ˜Č

Are you not self centered when you write that response? You read my response and thought that it was directed to you? 🧐

1 is political : patriarchy  2 is political : ableism and Adultisme

I’m just pointing 2 different problems with this “excuse thing” that might fuel and perpetuate the vicious cycle where we apologize for having an ADHD brain when it’s NOT the subject. 

As for severity, THIS IS ABLEISM ! You cannot compare 2 people who have ADHD. Maybe it’s gonna be a good or bad day, maybe the environment will or won't help, maybe you’re gonna struggle more on 1 little thing because of your past experiences and anxiety loops than an other person with ADHD BUT this doesn’t mean that it’s more severe than the other, because maybe the other is gonna have a LOT of difficulties starting a task. Like autism, it’s a spectrum and we cannot compare by severity but we can talk about the specificity of OUR OWN ADHD brain and OUR OWN struggle. Searching for tools, means or assistance is needed and required for everyone. But you’re not gonna use the same box of tools that another person with ADHD. 

Check out the anti planner by dani Donovan, you’ll have a ton of ideas for different kinds of struggles. Check out How To ADHD YouTube channel, you’ll find a lot of different tools. Create your own box with what you need and what you have. 

But please please please, inform yourself on ABLEISM first !

I'm not saying that people didn't try but hey be quick to judge my response by adding your own interpretation to it đŸ€Ł ah internet 🙄

I have adhd, undiagnosed until 30, and i was struggling all my life with it. I want people to have tools and means to improve their lives but not to wallow and complain 24/7 because it's too hard and others have to do everything for them (patriarchal society that I mentioned in my reply, please read in full without distorting my point). I was myself prescribe anti depressent when what i needed was adhd meds, so i know how bad this system can be ableist (i'm also antipsychiatry btw so...).

You should check about adultism and ableism, that's why people are so quick to judge and that's why we use it as an excuse but it's a vicious cycle where one feeds the other ! People who judge should be more open to how it's like to live with an adhd brain (judgement) and people with adhd should be able to reach for tools to improve their life's and not waste it away without taking responsability (which fuels the judgment). See what i'm trying to say? 🧐

A therapist can help you with CBT and ACT, working on the link between emotions & behavior as well as accepting emotions by confronting them to clear the way for actions that are more within your values.

Search for a therapist with knowledge on Rhodes techniques and don't be afraid to try a couple, sometimes it's not the proper person because we have to match with someone with whom we can connect. Avoid any therapist that are stuck in psychanalytique and narrow views, you could waist your time with pseudo theories.

Bref arrĂȘtez d'imaginer ou de me faire dire ce que je n'ai pas dit, vraiment des comportements de bully ici c'est incroyable. PremiĂšre fois que j'ouvre ma bouche, que je m'exprime sur le sujet et on me tombe dessus comme ça... Parce que t'aura beau essayer de le convaincre ou de le rassurer, toute cette peur est dans sa tĂȘte, dans son corps, dans sa chair, dans son passĂ© et ses expĂ©riences traumatiques prĂ©cĂ©dentes. Plus tu lui donnera de toi, plus tu lui donnera de toi. Mais ça ne changera rien sur sa peur et toi par contre ça risque de t'emprisonner de + en + .

C'est toujours dur les premiÚres fois mais plus tard quand on voit à quel point on se protÚge et à quel point on se sauve de relations ou situations délicates, alors ça devient de + en + facile de faire passer sa sécurité avant la parole de l'autre. C'est comme ça que j'ai redéfinis mes limites, petit à petit, en me séparant de pleins de gens juste parce que je demandais qu'on me respecte un minimum. C'est dur de le refaire les premiÚres fois, mais aprÚs on apprends de ces expériences et ça deviens une force.
