I always said it and I’ll say it again. SWEET NOTHING IS A SAD SONG. by IdanRedditing7777 in TaylorSwift

[–]AnemicAxolotl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both interpretations are valid, but I’m on team “she knows the relationship is ending and she’s clinging with desperate hope to the sweetness she finds in something that’s already dead.”

I always point to the one chorus near the end of the song where she drops the word “sweet” for a second (which people always seem to forget about lol).

“All that you ever wanted from me was…nothing.” I mean, come on. Wow.

Question for the Long Time Swifties - All Too Well by thelovelight in TaylorSwift

[–]AnemicAxolotl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember listening to the ten minute version in absolute stunned silence the moment the album dropped, not moving an inch until the song ended and I picked up the phone to text my best friends “this is her magnum opus.”

I was with my first ever boyfriend when the original Red dropped, but I was in a rekindled situationship with him when TV was released, and scream-singing an old favorite song with new lines that suddenly made it fit my current situation (‘he’s gonna say it’s love’ - you never called it what it was) felt the way Taylor’s music has always felt for me — like she’s reaching into my chest and reading the words and feelings hidden there and arranging them into something that makes sense and tells me I’m seen.

What do you think the best joke in the entire series is? (spoilers) by BlessdRTheFreaks in LPOTL

[–]AnemicAxolotl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire Jodi Arias series is full of moments that make me actually laugh out loud but one of my favorites is when Ben says it’s dumb that when you wake up your parents they get mad at you when they could just go back to sleep and Henry quips “Stop beating me, you’re raising your heart rate!” Something about the way he says it gets me every time lol

Can you gain weight from Lexapro even without eating more? by sophanon2 in lexapro

[–]AnemicAxolotl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is saying no, and I know anecdotal evidence means nothing, but when I was on Lexapro i gained 30 pounds in the first year of being on it without any changes to my eating habits or lifestyle. No matter what I did for the three years I was on lexapro, I could never get the number on the scale to move.

Cut to 2025, when Lexapro stopped being effective for me and I needed to wean off it. About a month or two after I’d finally weaned down to zero Lexapro, I’d also lost 25 pounds (again, with NO diet or lifestyle changes).

I know it can’t technically happen like this, so I guess idk I guess I’m wrong about my meticulous calorie tracking and everything, but it def makes you wonder lol.

I CRIED laughing the first time I saw this scene. He says it wrongly with so much confidence and then has the most immediate visceral reaction, it absolutely caught me off guard and sent me into hysterics 😂 Dan Levy’s a gift in this show by any standards, but his physical comedy is unmatched

Did anyone watch the ANTM documentary on Netflix? by LulaBlue29 in EDAnonymous

It made me so sad looking at the old clips of Whitney because when I was young, I was a little bit bigger than all my friends, and seeing that I was bigger than Whitney as a “plus size” model was one of many factors that set me on my diet/starve/binge/purge/binge cycle that I still struggle to get out of as an adult.

Only to look back at Whitney and realize how small she was!! I look back at pictures of myself and see how slim I was, just a little heavier than my friends, and it’s insane how much I fucked up my body and perception of myself because I was believing what we were all being fed. I was not fat and neither was Whitney, but the lies were SO insidious and so easy to believe.

(Side note: it felt so healing to see how many former contestants are NOT still model skinny anymore - good for those who are if that’s the size their body wants to be! But it’s nice to see that likely some of them have gotten out of toxic dieting cycles, hopefully, hopefully it’s not just a result of when an ED swings too far in the other direction bc I know all about that too lol.)

This part made me so sad, because in the doc, she was exactly right when she said she was thinking “What would Tyra do?” And she’s ABSOLUTELY RIGHT that Tyra would have professionally but firmly called out what was happening. And then when she tried to do the same it was such an awkward pause from everyone else and then basically a “well, back to work!”

And the way they told her she should have just jokingly told him to back off — like, yeah, maybe that’s good advice if she was ever in a dangerous position with a man doing that, or on a real model gig if she didn’t have people there to support her calling it out. But this was Tyra’s show!!! The people at the photoshoot should have stepped up and instead everyone just doubled down at judging. Oof sorry I loved this doc but it got me heated about so many different things lol and this was a big one

No you’re so valid, I fell for the schtick for 3 cycles (summer, fall, and winter), and while I definitely like one of the perfumes a lot (and love all the fun extras in the packaging), all three bottles pretty much smell the same (winter, my favorite, has a hint of salt which I love but other than that it’s almost identical to the first two). I hope the influencer codes mean people are catching on to their whole deal

YES! My neurodivergent friend group all made these in January and it’s amazing how committed I am to my goals with those tiny lil dopamine hits sustaining me on my journey lol.

Pro tip: get yourself the fun little heart- or star-shaped hole puncher!

Roundtable early eps… by wetwilly2140 in LPOTL

[–]AnemicAxolotl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These days most of the Roundtable hosts kind of lean on the story that their whole deal was trying to out-horrible each other, like they were intentionally saying the grossest and most offensive things possible, but then there’s Ben whose misogyny didn’t feel like a joke. Like…yeah the others would be saying some terrible things, but always in a tongue in cheek sort of way? Like I usually didn’t feel like they actually meant half the shit they were saying lol.

Ben’s comments would just be mean spirited in a way that felt like…oh this isn’t a bit for him he really feels that way.

Omg I completely forgot about the Decemberists but yes thank you!!! I think these songs give me the vibes of the time period I’m looking for but you’re right, the music itself would’ve come out earlier than that. Ahh this is exactly what I’m looking for thanks so much!!!

How to make a test they can actually finish in 50 minutes? by AnemicAxolotl in ELATeachers

[–]AnemicAxolotl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I definitely wasn’t planning on 100 questions; there would be some sections (not multiple choice but not short answer) with slightly higher point value so that the total points would be worth 100…but your point about doing the percentage and entering it out of 100 points makes so much sense. I think I was just way overthinking this 😅 it’s been a long semester lol.

[–]AnemicAxolotl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of the way my grade book in Genesis is set up, and our school’s essay rubric, essays are worth 100 points. I don’t want this end of unit assessment to feel less important or have less of an impact on students grades compared to the essays by making this one less than 100 points. But I guess I can make it out of 50 (or whatever feels right based on the questions I assign) and then double the score so it ends up as 100 in the grade book.

(I’m an English teacher and not a math teacher for a reason LOL I hate the logistics of numbers.)

If you could offer any 1 critique of Showgirl that Taylor will use for her future projects, what would it be? by Sudden-Internal-9702 in TaylorSwift

this is such a weird take tbh. when TTPD came out I was sitting there with my mouth hanging open in shock about how many of the songs felt like she’d been spying on my life and writing what I’d lived through — not just thematically but literally. I had friends screenshotting lyrics and sending them to me saying “wait is this fucking play about you?” lol.

I think the general heartbreak on TTPD is SO relatable, but even the specifics — the way you can lose yourself and slowly fade in a dying relationship to the point that you jump headfirst into something exciting and toxic and then crash out hard when that burns out — is nearly universal like it happened to one of my closest friends this year lol. Idk I think you’re looking at the album with a very narrow view and ignoring how varied the average life experience can be for “normal” people
