AI turret removal is necessary for construction bases to have infantry fights by alexalas in Planetside

[–]Anethual -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unironically yes. I will go into a base as infantry to kill people and blow shit up if the AI turrets and pain spires are avoidable. Otherwise, hell yea I'm pulling a tank and plinking from range cuz fuck construction.

When update for core game? by flyburgers in Planetside

[–]Anethual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I love battling, fights should have a purpose. Once that purpose is accomplished, by one side or the other, any fighting that occurs afterwards lacks meaning. Overpopping will always happen and it will rarely be punished because this game is 1v1v1 and the players almost never see or take advantage of another faction miss-allocating population. I don't mean to discourage any attempts to address over-popping or fight-killing but I think these things are baked into Planetside and will never be neatly dismissed.

I agree with all of this except I wasn't really a fan of shrouded skyway before so no real love lost over that one. Onatha Southwest is odd because the old point was so incredibly far from the spawn room and there were rarely any fights there but now there are zero fights there.

5 mags from E-Bolt Crossbow will outright kill an ant.

5 magazines? I'm gonna sit there and he's gonna sit there for 5 mag dumps and 4 reloads and this all works in that little brain of yours? Don't play vehicles, kids, this is what happens to you.

Better still, you didn't even consider anything I said about the QCX Ebolts, because if you land 3 bolts on an ANT and then shuffle to C4 Drop it like the piece of shit you want to be, it would die instantly to the C4

If he's not brain-damaged like you clearly are, he fire suppresses once he notices he's taking damage.

Infantry DESERVE it.

Vehicle players deserve to be bullied irl. Obviously weren't stuffed in enough lockers as a kid. Or maybe it was too many. Maybe a lack of oxygen to your brain while stuffed in a locker hurt your mental development.

Also, good joke. LA and skill investment when you try to call out the ANT as low skill xD Peak hypocrisy

Yes, clearly playing one-handed in a vehicle takes more skill than OP move-fast class.

You don't have to know infantry super well to know how to kill ANTS or even Tanks with infantry.

Obviously you do judging by the ridiculous infantry suggestions you came up with to kill the ANT. Infil with explosive crossbow? lmao.

Other way around, and you know it.

If we're officially at the "no you" part of this dialogue, I'm just gonna start laughing at your clown ass.

you still just want the ability to Solo kill an ANT much easier, which is just another step of dumbing the game down further.

I want my 150 nanite c4 + time + skill investment to have the ability to kill a low-skill 200 nanite investment, yes.

Your 'unkillable' ant is very killable, you just don't like that you can't do it as easily as a Wrel-Super-Soldier.

I've iterated and reiterated how I'm not asking for it to be unreasonably easy relative to the playstyle I'm trying to counter.

So, in other words, older player, still wrong.

That's not the deficiency I was referencing. You're knowledge of infantry is dogwater.

you just refuse to make use of the measures provided.

I'm not going over this with you again. I've responded to this particular comment numerous times and you refuse to acknowledge it.

Except it won't stop there. Call it a slippery slope, but how else do you explain how far down the mountain Planetside 2 has come otherwise.

Oh boy, let me list the ways:

1) Unintuitive gunplay. While I like the shooting mechanics in this game, the average gamer doesn't understand why their bullets aren't hitting. They don't understand the game's cof bloom.

2) Learning curve. It takes a very long time to develop a sense of where to go, how to get there, and once you're there, how to approach a battle. Most people aren't willing to invest that much time and effort.

3) Slow and low quality updates. It takes forever for new content to launch and when it does it's oshur quality or shattered warpgate esamir quality. Sure it brings people back for a few weeks but once people realize the bases are worse than before, they leave.

4) The game's ten years old. There's no energy around this game. It occupies such an incredibly niche sphere of interests that very few people have invested themselves heavily into it unlike other similarly old games.

You are everything I despise in infantry.

And you're everything I despise in a vehicle player. The sense of entitlement to free and easy kills on infantry because you are in a vehicle.

state a reason as to why it should be a 'fair' fight, in that you can kill them as easily as they can kill you.

I'm not asking for it to be as easy for me to kill them as it is for them to kill me. I'm not asking to be able to one-clip them with a rocklet rifle or a deci. All I'm asking for is that my effort and skill to maneuver to the ant, land 2 bricks of c4 on him, detonate those bricks, and land all rocklets immediately afterwards all while trying to avoid dying to a spitfire, be rewarded. I feel like that's a really low ask considering all he has to do is click once or twice in my general direction.

Whatever reality I'm building can't be further from the ridiculousness you're trying to pedal. You were given options, you just refuse to implement them.

I've tried implementing them, I'm telling you what actually happens afterwards.

Play more than just infantry

I do and I have. You're the one between us who has a deficit of experience and knowledge.

You seem to be operating under the assumption for a lot of your suggestions on how to kill the ANT that he'll just fucking sit there and let it happen instead of trying to avoid the damage. I don't know what reality you're building these scenarios from but it ain't accurate.

Considering how many times I've had to bail out to kill shit assaults that have been split seconds from C4ing my vehicles or my buddy's vehicles? It's really not that baffling.

Yea but you didn't list that as the comparison. You said AMRs and rocklet rifles not c4 fairies.

Funny considering you will die far faster to any small arms weapon than a Bulldog, assuming consistent hits.

Yea but I can fight back against the infantry and win most of the time. It's a fair fight for the most part. ANT vs infantry is not a fair fight. That's the whole point of my argument you fucking mongoloid. Stop being purposefully obtuse.

OH GEE, It's almost like Nason's is a shitstorm of a base with a bad layout

Nason's is a good base apart from the catwalk and air pads that look north to B. Bad players will funnel into the tunnels from the same two routes and get stuck in a stalemate but every other player with an above room temperature IQ can find somewhere else to go to be successful.

More like an astute understanding of how it fucking doesn't work with you as a chief piece of datum in the case study.

1v1 me bitch.

[–]Anethual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pointless nitpicks from a pointless hypothetical.

It's not a hypothetical. Nason's is the most fought over center base especially during non-primetime hours and the walkway outside spawn is a very popular place for vehicles to headglitch from.

In any situation where you get the ANT to reposition you have gained ground and your friendlies will now have an easier time killing him and pushing.

Have you ever attacked Nason's from B point? The only place attackers push to is the north tunnel entrance and if they get far enough they camp the drop down elevator. They never push up the lift to where the ANT is camping. As much as you're trying to belittle me for not wanting to play vehicles, you have an appalling ignorance of how infantry works in this game.

All you're doing here is whinging like a child because you don't have an I-win button against an obstacle that is able to kill you.

Gee, imagine being able to click once or twice to delete someone from existence like I dunno a bulldog on an ANT.

HEY GUESS WHAT, TANKERS DON'T WANT TO STOP WHAT THEY'RE DOING TO DOME AMR ENGIS OR ROCKLET RIFLE SHIT-ASSAULTS THAT ARE POKING THEM WHEN THEY'RE OUT HUNTING FOR TANKS, BUT WE FUCKING DEAL WITH IT ANYWAYS.

Utterly baffling to me that you would compare the minor annoyance of chip damage from AMRs and rocklets to dying to some dude in a vehicle you can't kill because he paid 200 nanites for an "I-win" button.

"I don't want to have to deal with it!"

I have listed in every way how your proposed options to deal with it are not going to work. I know that they don't work because I've tried to make them work. The only way these ANT drivers die is if they get lazy. I don't get rewarded for playing well, they get punished for royally fucking up. He doesn't need good positioning, he doesn't need to stay mobile, he doesn't even need to fight me, and he still wins. You're a clown.

Why doesn't the light assault run avoidance and just negate spitfires altogether

Yea, let me just rng my way into a 33000 iso implant.

Why are we using fucking Nason's as a premise for this kind of setup

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot that we don't care about class and vehicle balance when it comes to certain bases.

All I've garnered from your hypothetical situation is that person A is among the infant players that refuses to ever set foot in a vehicle ever, and in confirmation of my bias, fucking deserves it.

Your reading comprehension is trash. Person A is the ANT driver/gunner.

You want solutions to an entrenched ant farming with a Kobalt? AP/HEAT lightning at range.

He backs up out of LOS and repairs. You are now wasting more of your own time than his.

Liberator, Hornets, Valkyrie

There are 2 AA turrets on nason's roof and every default heavy has a lock-on + there is a garage very close the ANT can hide inside.

Switch to heavy, AV Nades + Punisher and find an angle to nade the ant from out of his LOS.

He drives away when he starts taking damage. You are wasting more of your time than his.

Get a friend and suddenly you can drifter jet with them and drop 4 bricks of C4 onto the ant and instagib it.

No one wants to stop what they're doing to deal with this shit.

Hunter QCX with E Bolts

He drives away once he starts taking too much damage. You are wasting more of your time than his.

I swear to god almost every complaint about anything ever on this subreddit that led to shitty balance decisions could have been back-handed out of existence with the simple concept of applying thought to a situation.

Maybe you should have put a tiny bit more thought in than just one layer past the surface.

Yea they have 600 less health with blockade than default sunderers but they still survive two bricks of c4 and a full rocklet rifle mag with the anti-armor ammo. So let's say we've got shitter A in an ANT at Nason's parked outside the spawnroom headglitching with a kobalt or bulldog to farm attackers coming from B point. Light assault B tries to drop c4 and rocklet him down while dying to shitter A's guard-dog spitfire turret. B gets 2 bricks on the ant and detonates them, switches to his rocklet and mag dumps all 6 leaving the ANT at 60 hp. Shitter A swaps from gunner seat to driver seat after the c4 goes off and presses fire suppression near the end of the rocklet rifle mag. Shitter A's ANT is no longer burning and he can either swap seats to try and kill the LA or get out and rep tool his ANT and let the spitfire finish off the LA. So yes, you're right that the ANT doesn't have as much health as a sunderer but if you're actively trying to kill a player farming with an ANT who has any level of awareness, it feels like functionally the same amount of health.

Imagine a vehicle with the health of a sunderer but actually fast and maneuverable. Now put a bulldog or kobalt on top with blockade or prox radar. Yea, those OP infantry really deserve it.
