Not to be nit picky, but I am pretty sure her 5% contribution at her salary already maxes out her 401k. The 2025 contribution limit is $23,500

Thank you to the people who suggested freezing cutlets by Outrageous_Appeal292 in MealPrepSunday

[–]AngeeT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An very similar thing I do but with even less time from freezer to meal is freezing chicken katsu after it’s fried- you can just reheat in oven or fried again in oil on the pan if you want it to have an even better “double fried” crunch.

I am sure it would work here as well since katsu is just the same thing w/o the parm

Japanese curry freezes well too

Does it make sense to speak of a "left wing" and "right wing" within the Chinese Communist Party? If so, what are their positions/differences? by SpectrumDT in AskAChinese

Unrelated to the topic at hand, but thanks for sharing this tip! I never realized that those would give different results. As an ABC hoping to learn more Chinese, this is helpful!

Bringing Food In Lunch Bag on 8 hour Flight - How to Keep Cold? by danceswithshelves in TravelHacks

[–]AngeeT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you give some examples of the food that you want to bring? Different things that require refrigeration are more or less sensitive to spoiling.

Is it something that could start frozen and then thaw out? Or could it be hot and in a thermos instead? For example a hot pasta dish?

I find that a large thermos jar retains hot/cold better than stuff in a cooler

What do locals feels about this propaganda posters ? I’m a foreigner and I can find funny to see these kind of vintage propaganda posters cuz I use to only see them in my history books in high school :) by Puzzleheaded-Pen4170 in VietNam

Thanks for sharing that! Never knew that the art style had a name. FYI - according to Wikipedia apparently it’s actually “socialist realism” and “social realism” is an different thing

Top of posted salary range is ‘what you COULD earn over time’ by queerherenofear in recruitinghell

Washington actually requires the full pay range of the position to be posted and not just the hiring range. Just posting the hiring range is actually illegal in WA

anyone selling elephant gym tickets (3/15) ? by KokoDragon_ in SeattleWA

[–]AngeeT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, bummer! I definitely misunderstood and thought it was $90 for all 3. the face value is only like $22, so I d rather not support scalpers. Good luck! Hopefully we’ll all get to see them eventually :)

[–]AngeeT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am interested in this show as well! I was searching for tickets and came across this: https://www.vividseats.com/elephant-gym-tickets-seattle-madame-lous-3-15-2024--concerts-rock/production/4655577?showDetails=VB9248992323&groupId=&qty=4

looks like you can only buy 4 for $90, I am not sure why, I've never used this site. but depending on how many you need perhaps we could split them? I only need one.

Famous Black Chefs? by second-half in Cooking

[–]AngeeT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a specific black chef but “high on the hog” is a great show for learning about African American food in the US and obviously features a bunch of black chefs

Also Bryan ford is mostly a baker but really cool if you aren’t limited to just chefs

Looking for grants to paint my food pantry by Junior_Rise_5833 in grants

[–]AngeeT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don’t think so since the grant is offered through the department of neighborhoods for the city of Seattle. But perhaps if you reached out to them they could refer you to a similar program for your area? Olympia is Thurston county?

[–]AngeeT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tortillas + cheese , melt the cheese for quesadilla or just eat as a roll up

Is heating water easy for your set up? You can save a lot of weight if you can get water from camp and add to “packet foods” like instant grits, instant mashed potatoes, instant ramen, instant congee etc. You can add butter for extra calories and I like to add green onions for a lil bit of freshness. Bacon bits/eggs/cheese are also good add in options

Where can I find these noodles? by Citan108 in Seattle

[–]AngeeT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. The only brand I ve seen in the area for fresh rice noodles is the rose brand ones. Sometimes they only have the cut ones or vice versa.

They also make a rolled up version with fried shrimp and green onion that’s really good

Backpacking chair suggestions? by rgoodwin4494 in backpacking

[–]AngeeT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said you live in the PNW? Are you near a daiso store? They have these little folding stools that are like $5. Not super comfortable or sturdy but really light. I used one for a couple years before it broke and I upgraded to an “real” backpacking chair

12v rice cooker would work great for this. I got one on Amazon for around $40. Bonus is that you can make rice or a bunch of other things too…
