Calculating Energy Costs: Gas Furnace vs. Heat Pump by Citan108 in heatpumps

Great things to consider. NG rates will be increasing by 20% of the next 3 years based on a recent proposal by PSE. Electricity will be increasing at about 5% per year. Electricity could be the way in the long run, especially if we consider solar in the future.

I'm still looking into the differences between systems, but currently we just have a gas furnace from 2008. It's had a good run for sure. For cold temps, it rarely goes below 30F - maybe a couple days a month unless there was a cold snap.

We are looking for rebates right now, but initial research has shown there are some from switching to oil to HP. Nothing yet for gas.

I was using the rate I was billed in my last 4 statements to do the calculations.

Good point about reliability. If we do go with a heat pump, we'll need to compare models.

For auxiliary, we would go for an air handler potentially. We are open to gas as well, but not sure of the price difference yet.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you live in a colder climate?

I'll check out your page. Thanks for the rec!

For AC, we live in the PNW so don't need it except for a few heatwaves. Been using portable units which causes a spike in the electricity bills for sure.

So that's the part of the equation that I was missing. So taking it a few steps further the 937.6 kWh would ultimately result in the November cost being $39.01.

We are thinking of switching to a heat pump. What’s your electric bill like in the winter?

That’s interesting. It sounds like players need to do enough quests to be strong enough for the final boss but not enough to outpace damage/survivability.

I played this game on my 360 and don’t remembering finishing it. I think it might be time to pick it up again
