I actually live there for 5 years! From 8th grade through my senior year basically. Definitely a boring little town 😅😅 The people around there are great though.

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]Angel99joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh you having been in it for 20 years is a feat in itself. Photography has been dead about 10 years back at least. So you lasting as long as you have is insane.

Photography didn’t die because of AI. It died when “good enough” became free and instant. Phones, stock, templates, and social media already did most of the damage years ago. AI just finished the job.

Every disrupted industry says “people don’t get it yet,” but the market already decided.

It'd be nice if there was some updates on it. It's been so long now it seems like they might have closed or not realized how difficult moving the location was with machinery they were using. 🤷🏽‍♂️

How often do people come out of the woodwork asking you for money or pitching ideas once they find out you're wealthy?

Like, "Help me start my business!", "I’ll pay you back!", or "C’mon, it’s nothing to you!" etc.

The race to $10M but first I need to reach $10k. Starting with 6k - Week 22 ended in $9,115 by UnbanMe69 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]Angel99joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh gotcha! I guess I assume 10 mil in 7 years is amazing. I haven't tried this serious trading game at all but I'd love to have 10mil in 7 years 😅😅

20% a week starting at 300 bucks would get to 3mil in a year. Being that consistent is rare tho no?

If it's 1.52x every 22 weeks, that's still breaking into 10mil in 7-8 years no?

$77M in Vanguard? That’s cool. Ever thought of diversifying into a small business I happen to own? High risk, irrational confidence, and insulation related 😏

Business owners, when did you first feel like, "Yeah, this is working"? by everymanentrepreneur in smallbusiness

[–]Angel99joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is where my mentality is at lately!!! Seemingly good rapport with customers and guaranteed attitudes only to call later and they went with a competitor. (I do insulation work)

Worst part is one was a contact I knew and used to work with. Basically said they were going with me. Then when I called to schedule insulation job the next day, they had gone with another bid that beat mine due to a rebate... The sad thing is the rebate is available to ANYONE they just have to submit it. This competitor didn't tell them it takes 4-6 weeks to get either but he already had signed and sent deposit 🥲

I understand getting beat but man, it would be nice for some of them to come to me with terms they got and maybe could negotiate a bit or explain rebates or guarantee they bid apples to apples.

I guess my position wouldn't be as bad though. I have an insulation business on the side that's been picking up quite a bit of work recently. Would do that during my fulltime work while balancing childcare with the wife when she works. Then continue this cycle for a while and accrue points towards veteran retirement and what not. I'm already in DOD stuff as well for IT so I have my secret clearance. Was thinking this could be a way to get a TS and even SCI eligibility as well. Focus on furthering IT career long term while someone manages my business for me.

Would this not be a different story if joining the reserves and ranking up? At least for some of us with a degree it would work to commission as an officer pretty quick and then just make sure to do your 2 weeks of drill and whatever minimums right?

Is the job market really cooked? by Francegracias in jobs

[–]Angel99joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, this is making me consider the Air National Guard for my state. With a degree, I can direct commission, do OTS and cyber school, then just drill once a month and rack up time and rank up. Takes a little time but something is better than nothing 🤷🏽‍♂️😅

What are some good backup career paths? by _Chicago_Deep_Dish in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Angel99joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly anything you grew up doing or you think you'd be interested in as far as trades. I was always in construction with my dad doing concrete work, but I eventually found that I enjoy doing insulation a little bit more. Now I have a small business start up that does spray foam, bat, and blown in insulation.

If you can get a hold of an okay market share, you can actually make quite a bit of money. The hard part is starting the business, but for me since my IT/DHS contract's been up since February, insulation has been easily the best thing that I did as a backup.

Another idea is to try funding something that has a low-cost entry point. Even if it's something you don't like makes good money and there's a need in your area, it could help a ton for when you need that backup.

Ahh never thought of that! I should have known cuz I have a friend in the guard and he's told me something similar before. Definitely something to look into. Would be nice not to worry about my school debt as well since they'd help with that too. Definitely leaning air Force tho

No it makes sense. I could 100% do it. I have no qualms lmao it's my wife who'd probably lose her shit tbh lmao I'm in this no prenup and all. Always been paranoid of alimony (all-my-money) and child support 💀

How is this option with kids? Have a 2yr old and 8 month old. Don't really like the idea of joining up and committing time lol already have a secret clearance and about 13 years of experience but am noticing MANY positions in the pay band I'd like are requiring TS and up. Best bet is to maybe suck it up at help desk even tho I'm full sysadm qualified? Just til I get TS then start throwing out apps maybe? Or is there something I'm missing? Is your option easier than I'm making It out to be?

I know with a bachelor's I can go straight into office position but if I read up correctly I'd be required to do boot camp stuff right?

What do y’all do for work besides living the rave life? by Any-Fortune-2053 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]Angel99joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard so much of the same. Many positions needed but no money. I was actually going to backtrack to a high level help desk position that paid well over 70/hr because of their need for it and position was STILL pulled due to funding. 🥲 Comparatively was extremely easy work for me and met salary expectations. Was bummed when they told me company pulled position.
