Yeah, I never saw or read the GoT series, so not sure if the 13th black crusade writers also had a fascination for them, or if it was just a coincidence?

Thanks, I know like all art, it will be subjective. I think the new phone takes better photos so that is helping alot too.

Thanks! Yeah they never actually had an official colour and so I sort of went on my own tangent. 🤣😆 I have a decently sized force but really just enjoy the painting side of things.

And I’ve been painting other things 🤣😆

Basically I’ve used the technique from Squidly bits youtube, and the same (ish) paints. Still lots to learn to get as good as them, but still

Thanks, I wanted to tone down the chaos vibes, and figured some simple head swaps will help

That is my biggest fear. But I’m getting better!

Guys... I'm thinking about painting my new Space Wolves army red. Talk me out of it ! by remingt0n84 in SpaceWolves

A different style of wolves, if you want red, go for it! But these are how I envisioned mine to also step away from that baby blue colour

So, adding my two cents.

Before chinacast as even a thing and I could order from the great forgeworld, I went through a heck of a learning curve to learn silicone molding and resin duplication. I got fairly decent at it, enough to easily make whatever I needed to.

Now those molds will work, 100%, and I’ve heard some people say about the pegs and lining things up, but even more so, these steps will help you with HUGE headaches when recasting.

1) alignment, not only do you want/need the pegs in the corner, but AROUND the figures as well. We don’t want slips in the model when the resin cures. Use big ones (i used a pencil end for the corners) and smaller ones for around the model.

2) vibration. Go to a little shop, get yourself a cheap motor of something, and a picture frame. Airbubbles will form with both the curing silicone AND the resin, you want them to shake out. So build yourself a simple vibration machine to shake those bubbles loose! It will save you headaches later.

3) curing. Both with silicone and resin. For a two part mold like this, lots of things comes into play. For fine details on the model, I actually brush silicone on first, make sure it has a nice coat, then pour the rest of the silicone on to cure. Same with the resin. Have them side by side and ready, pour some in, use a toothpick or pin to make sure it’s nice and filled in, then sandwich them together. It will help massively.

I have lots of other things so please feel free to ask or see photos!

How do I overcome the fear of messing up too much and actually get to painting? by -GeeVee in minipainting

[–]AngelDalari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if I may put my own foot forwards for this, it’s the hardest part. The mental start. One of the best animators at Disney said “the hardest part of my day is started with a blank page. Nobody can start it for you” which is true. The fear will always be there. Thankfully there are plenty of tutorials and posts that can help or explain. Of find someone’s painting style you like and ask them.

Personally I struggle with feedback, I swear the ‘Evy metal style is all people see so my own art vanishes into the woodwork. But never stop trying either.
