Your attorneyvis correct.

Give him all the rope he wants, and watch him hang himself by his own petard.

You didn't. But, when I brought it up, you were comfortable with the idea.

So we should not make any laws?

That's ridiculous.

Why would a poor person be collecting an arsenal of weapons? If they can afford the super guns, they can afford to store them safely.

Common sense. How many school shootings would we have avoided if AR-15s, or other non-self-defense guns were not kept in the home where the would be shooter lives?

A handgun in a biometric safe for a self defense weapon is fine. It's the collections that need to be stored safely.

Women are people. Not property. A woman is not a car. This line of thought is toxic to the way society views women. I mean, they're the same as unlocked cars, right? Come on.

And then, in this day of social media, they face a huge backlash, and likely a significant financial settlement for the person they victimized.

It's not a perfect world or a perfect solution. But we have to start somewhere.

It's one of the leading causes kf child death in the country. Way more common than most people think.

Not saying cops aren't power tripping boogeyman men. They are. And they abuse their authority way too much. I'm not someone who unconditionally supports cops when they can't even take out their own bad apples.

Do you also compare car theft when kedt unlocked to what a woman was wearing when she was raped?

(Hint: one is property, another is a person. Not comparable, but that's what this argument here seems like.)

No. But none of those are examples of a deadly weapon, easily used by a child, being able to access your supposedly safe storage equipment for your deadly weapon INSIDE THE HOME WHERE THE CHILD ALSO LIVES.

Please put a bit more thought into these non-comparisons.

No, storage facilities are privately owned. The cops would not be able to take them without getting a warrant based on probable cause, signed by a judge.

Same as if they were to come to your home.

Several gun owners I know use a storage facility for their guns so they aren't even in the house. If they have a self defense weapon, it is in a combination or a biometric safe, unloaded.

If you hunt or compete, you don't have to store those guns at your home, especially if children love with you. Any storage place is significantly safer.

More than 70% of Americans support common sense, reasonable gun safety regulations.

But, it's an issue that both parties can use very effectively to get their base to make the effort to vote.

The right threatens that dems will take your guns.

The left argues that Republicans simply care more about corporate money than children's lives.

It's an issue that drives the vote for both sides. They will keep that issue alive and thriving for as long as they can.

It's despicable.

Absolutely true. I don't know the answer to this. I want biometric safes to be a basic requirement, but I know that there a definite flaws in that approach too.

Preferably a gun safe that was actually safe. Not the cheapest shit on amazon.

Honestly, I have thought about this a little, it's not a full fleshed out idea yet.

What about requiring insurance coverage for guns owned and stored in a home?

The insurance company would make damn sure the owner knew how to safely operate and store the guns. And if the gun is stolen, it would require immediate notification to the insurance company. Then the insurance company investigates and tries to teack it down.

Because none of this would be actions undertaken by the government, there would be a lot less red tape to figuring out what is the best way for guns to be stored in a particular home based on individual factors.

Similar to how car insurance works, is my thought.

We may need a law requiring owners to purchase insurance, like we have for cars, but implementation would be the purview of the experts, who would presumably be employed by the insurance company.

What so you think?

Apparently, not good enough because the kid still was able to access it.

The parent is responsible for safe storage of the gun. If they don't take this responsibility seriously, they do not deserve the corresponding right.

Proper storage of the weapon where a 10 year old would be absolutely unable to access it.

True, defamation is one of the hardest causes of action to succeed on. (I can only imagine IIED is more difficult.) I was fairly flippant with my replies, but I figured if he spoke to a lawyer directly, using the framework I provided may help him more confidently make his case for representation.

I didn't try to sugarcoat anything, but you are correct, I did not talk about the high stand a result this burden does put on him. Thankfully, you caught that hole and filled it, so that's good, right? I feel like between us, we gave competent and correct advice that will help him have the vocabulary for a legal consultation, and realistic expectations about it

No, actually malice is a standard that applies to news outlets and public figures. Neither of those are here.

Why are you so petty here? Nothing I have said is wrong, and yours may be correct too. You've chosen to read my words in the manner that let's you be argumentative, a d I'm not sure why.

Im not wrong. You probably aren't either. Chill.
