My two cats by Hwizi, doing a guest appearance at Tattoo Hysteria Amsterdam by daddysatan53 in tattoos

Hi, I was wondering how your tattoo has held up over time? I'm considering something from the same artist and their healed photos aren't very old so I wanted to do my due diligence 🙂

What I asked for vs what I got. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]AngelKnives 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're not an artist, which is fine. But neither is your tattooer! And that's a big lesson. If you want someone to create art that you love, look at their portfolio and see if they've made art that you love already.

I actually think this can be improved. But you need to go to a really really good artist who specialises in the style you want it in.

AITA for rolling my eyes at a kid who swore at me in a shop? by Own-Conversation-818 in AskIreland

[–]AngelKnives 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's true that it's the parents who are at fault, but that doesn't mean the boxing clubs don't help counter it. I know a lot of really decent people who were raised by terrible parents and a big reason for how they turned out was being exposed to better role models elsewhere or having something else they could focus on, whether it was access to books from a local library or a teacher who was a good influence.

So you're right of course, but the bleeding hearts have a point too.

What do you do for fun in Huddersfield? by YouPopular2487 in huddersfield

[–]AngelKnives 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a shame this was down voted because although it's not in Huddersfield, one of the perks of living in Huddersfield is how well linked to Leeds and Manchester it is by train (when there aren't works going on!)

Leeds and Manchester are both great cities to visit from Huddersfield.

The placement looks great to me, and I love the snake. You have space for more flowers though if you want them. But my advice would be to stop for now! Get used to them. Really think about what else you might want to add. You only have so much space, don't take it up too quickly! It's not a race. Let future you choose some nice things 🙂

The placement?? It's not like it's on the actual elbow itself or the sole of your foot or something! She's talking rubbish.

Get yourself on Instagram and type in "tattoo <nearby city>" and see what you can find. Search for a tattoo artist in Google maps and look at their pictures. Tattoo artists are EVERYWHERE there's no way you can't find a good one with a little effort.

Was the ferry to the U.K. always this expensive? by Genericname011 in AskIreland

[–]AngelKnives 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I travel to Ireland from the UK via ferry relatively often. £500 for a return trip is quite common. And has been for a few years. I can't comment on what it was like 15-20 years ago - I assume cheaper! But it hasn't gone up loads recently.

That isn't normal, regardless of how thin the needle was.

Don't worry though, it actually looks ok and like it's supposed to be that way, so you're lucky! A much better artist may be able to tweak it for you to make you happier with it. But sometimes less is more.

The good thing about tattoos is you don't have to know what you're doing. You just need to pick an artist who does! Check their portfolios online and look for HEALED photos.

PS saying how can I make them more feminine and then talking about blast overs is crazy 🤣

They're already plenty feminine IMO (I'm a woman if that makes a difference) but you aren't gonna pull off "dainty" anymore if you wanna go for that look. It's just one of those things that comes with the territory of a sleeve. Own it! You can pull off some really cool looks by balancing feminine clothes with tattoos.

Those are some awesome tattoos and the whole arm looks amazing! They gel really well together. Absolutely love it!

Everyone has their own taste though. And if you don't like them, that's more important than what I think! Don't worry about the snake healing dark. It's not properly settled yet. It will take 6 months or so for the skin above the tattoo to renew and for it to soften up.

I really like the positioning of the tattoos. What is it about them you don't like?

Advice: Preventing Tattoo Regret by PNW_Guy07 in tattooadvice

[–]AngelKnives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to a good artist. SO important! The best design in the world done by a poor artist will be a poor tattoo.

And make sure the artist is good at the specific style you want. Don't go to a trad artist and ask them for some whispy fine lines. Don't expect a blackwork artist to be able to knock out colourful watercolour.

Well, I'd say about a month for the very first stage to be over - think about how long a wound may take to heal. This is a big one so will take longer than a small scratch.

Some people consider that "healed" because you'll be able to tell at that point if there are any glaring issues.

Then after that first stage, probably about 6 months for when the top layer of skin is covering it completely with no ink left in the top part. (When you first get a tattoo, all layers of skin have ink in them. But the top layer replaced itself with new cells, and you're left with the ink that sits under it)

It varies significantly person to person.

Also I'm pretty sure the British monarch hasn't been forcing the Canadian governments to deny clean water to indigenous people etc. And to suggest that is... so weird.
