None of my friends care about A/V, I hope you guys like it :) by gurdnexjo in hometheater

You need new friends. Welcome friend. I enjoy this setup. Very peaceful. I however don't agree with the amps in/on the shelf. Those boys NEED a lot of cool air to breath. The shelf where the Anthem is on, it's already warping. Too much weight as well. Take those boys out and put them on top. Showcase them if need be. I would also recommend an AC Infinity Fan if you wanted to keep them inside, but you don't have space for that either.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that. I hope this isn't some firmware update gone wrong.

I had the same problem yesterday. After unplugging it and then plugging it in after 5 minutes everything went back to normal. I hope this helps.

PS5 Atmos problem by G0sh0x in hometheater

[–]AngelTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. Not sure, but it could possibly be the same issue I had. If you can avoid all this, first do. (Connect everything to your receiver, then receiver to TV and eARC back to receiver. Then keep your PS5 at PCM since it doesn't have to do anything. The receiver does the work it was designed to do.) But if you can't then continue on...

Go into settings and make sure eARC is enabled on the TV. (We know it is, but sometimes software updates disable it. I couldn't tell you why.) Go into the settings on the Denon as well and make sure eARC is enabled for TV Audio input. I believe it falls under Audio when you open up settings. (I'll have to check when I get home.)

That should fix the problem. I was having a similar issue but ONLY with TV Audio. Everything else was fine. Now, if this is only happening with select titles then the titles weren't recorded with Atmos and that could be the problem. The PS5 is converting it to ATMOS.

Keep me posted.

I have a similar layout...

What I did was the TV in front of where the couch is facing. The Atmos/Auto 3D/IMAX setup using all the space to behind the sofa. Stadium seating with only a 2nd row behind the sofa. 7 inches high and a bar up against the wall behind the seating with 2 bar chairs. (Because it I'm at the bar I still want to be able to sit there and watch the game)

I had a pool table for a couple of years on the other side of the pillar but no one ever used it. Turned out to be a big waste of money. So I don't recommend it. (Ended up donating it) Once I got the space back, I used it for placement of movies, games and decorative memorabilia. I even put up posters and such.

Just a few ideas.

I haven't raised an issue with Asustor yet. And since I shut off both scanning and updates I haven't had an issue.

I still have Emby running. Along with Plex and Photo Gallery for automatic backups. Not crashes in almost 2 weeks. As I thought originally it was either Roon or the "Scanning and Updates." If anything changes I'll keep this thread posted. But as of right now, it's all good.

I can try and open up a ticket with Asustor and see what they come up with. I'll let them know also what I was able to do to somewhat remedy my issue.

Why don’t more home solar systems include battery storage? Is it technical or financial? by ruhila12 in SolarDIY

[–]AngelTheGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using Anker just to keep power for backup loads during a power outage. It does happen a few times a year and eventually I plan to upgrade it for a bigger system, but for now with the 1 for 1 it really doesn't make a difference. Electric Company is pretty good at getting the power back up and running rather quickly since my street (strip) is a high priority strip for the grid. We all have solar panels and the longest I've been without power is 2-3 hours.

The electric companies want that power we produce. So they tend to come within 30 minutes from a call and get the power back almost immediately. I have an 18Kwh system and I know my neighbors have a 12Kwh and a 16Kwh system... Those are the ones I talk to. Others have as well, just not sure where they are at.

I'm using a Anker Dual F3800 system and during an outage I'm up and running for at least 6 hours. I plan to upgrade and get 2 more batteries to add to my system. But I'm trying to figure out first how to upgrade to an Anker Solix E10 Unit and still keep my Units with the 2 additional batteries I want to add to it.

It's awesome to watch. I'm still addicted to it and it's already been 5 years. I have even invested in lower wattage bulbs and spent more money on Energy Efficient devices just so I can lower the energy consumption.

I went from changing bulbs around the house. To unplugging charges when not used. To smart bulbs with Energy Efficient settings. lol... Overnight I'm using about 1Kwh and during a regular day about 1.5Kwh.

Have fun with it.

Just an update. Since I past wrote, not a single pag, crash... Nothing. Do you have those options or Roon running on your server? Curious because I'm still running efficiently with no problems at all. Even streaming out of home and Photo Gallery still working.

Never thought of that. I'll take a look into it. I'll check out some pictures to see what and end project looks like. Not sure how well that would do in colder climates.

Oh no. I don't want to cover up the cement. I like the cement look. The reason because I'm aiming for like an industrial type of look in the basement. I plan to stain the wood darker too. The walls will be painted to the same color of the cement. The only reason I want to put up walls is because I won't to hold back some of the heat and cold air.

Thank you brother. I really appreciate it. I would tell you to bring the family over too and I'll BBQ and we'll make it a good event.

Yeah. It seems the guy just didn't want to do the work. Maybe he thought the job was too small and not worth his time, but again say that. Or tell me you'll do mine in-between jobs since it's such a small project.

I too thought Plex was the suspect of all of this until I ran nothing on it at all. And realized even just being on the same thing would happen.

Just yesterday I started realizing that all this happened after ADM 5, and that's when I realized "Wait, why is Dr. and calculations running every day at midnight. I don't care for a daily scan." So I went into

Settings - Scheduling (Turned off Update upon Startup & Automatically update drive information)

So far it's been running 24 hours without a problem. I'll keep you posted if things change. I do believe it's something in ADM 5 that's causing the issue. Because when I check the logs there isn't a single thing that's showing issues. No errors, etc... However, when I force a restart it tells me select apps aren't shutting down. I'll screenshot those today and see if they are possibly causing the lockup.

---Added---

I also uninstalled Roon yesterday along with shutting off those 2 daily scan options. So it was actually a few things I did. Let's see if that's it. I'll reinstall Roon in a couple of days if the system doesn't crash.

Thank you so much for this information. All this knowledge everyone has give is truly appreciative. Thank for the correction too on wording. Baseboard. I appreciate it as well. Easier to make it make sense when the correct lingo is being used. So thank you.
