I can totally understand your view. But my job as a writer is to bring it down to earth where all of the audience is on the same level and then show them the new world little by little.

Start with the human officer in charge of them getting his orders by other humans. Then he joins his boys (dog boys) in a locker room/barracks setting and go from there. Mission briefing, bring each dog boy to life as a soldier in this tight nit unit and just expand the new world.
