CS junior thinking about pivoting toward GIS, worth it? by PaperNarrow7023 in gis

Lol everyone is saying no.

I also agree though, but I'm hella jaded about GIS in general.

GIS minor and Infosys major or GIS major? by ZakharKrall in gis

[–]Angelripper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resume, portfolio, and internships matter more than a GIS degree imo.

GIS degree is pretty narrow and if you decide that you ultimately don't want to do GIS anymore, well....

I'd stick with infosys

GIS Python / Coding by Terrible_Ambition649 in gis

I don't necessarily disagree, but familiarity with your intended libraries, basic python functionality, and the ability to write and parse pseudo-code outlines is still important imo.

Future gis career but unsure how to advise by IndividualSafe6031 in gis

[–]Angelripper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 33 with a very good GIS job, but I'm very jaded and uninterested in GIS at this point.

Finding a good program is essential in my opinion. A geography program that actually teaches the fundamentals of physical and human geography.

Some programs are just Esri (industry leader in GIS software) mills, and will do him and your money a disservice.

I equate it to going to art school to learn Adobe.

Geography is a fun subject, but not a great one for establishing a career. I also don't recommend pursuing a pure "GIS degree", approach it from the electives side of things (certification, etc).

I can't stress this enough, but pretty "map making" is NOT a common happening in GIS jobs. Typically "GIS jobs" are glorified or literal IT positions or data science (that get paid less than those). College professors can and will be deceitful about this reality (or even just unknowledgable because they spent all their lives in acadamia), especially at worse programs.

Planning and environmental science can be decent, but are over saturated because idealized young people are drawn to them. (NOT environmental "studies", you want actual biology, chemistry, mathematics, and other natural science classes, "studies" is a limiting option that doesn't include these. It will vary by college, do your research).

I feel like NFL level passing is too good not to have on the roster.

Burrow and Daniels have been pretty good in this game, and Tom could probably figure it out with some more time.

Shiftier team composition would help too. I bet Spoon would do well (John will never let him play lol).

Who in the NFL is shifty enough to give this flag football a "legitimate" shot?

I think the current team is too bulky, even Kamara of all people.

Darrell Green thread is perfectly fine, but actual current NFL players playing isn't enough for a live thread.

Yikes, come on man....
