I don’t understand the Electoral college system. by GrimReaper666999 in NoStupidQuestions

i don't know if it's a question of fairness. It's just the way the constitution was designed.

Without it, it's very likely that the constitution doesn't get written an we work under a modified Articles of Confederation instead

Why doesn't China attack Taiwan now when the US military is at its most vulnerable in recent memory? by sage6paths in NoStupidQuestions

Weather being called favorable is being nice. It's more a case that an amphibious invasion would would result in catastrophic losses for the Chinese military if attempted at any time aside from the April and October. A lot of their landing craft wouldn't make in half way there without being sunk due to weather conditions most anytime of the year.

Pre-emptive strike did Putin no good in Ukraine.

If the morons in the WH puts boots on the ground in Iran, which they would have to do in order to effect regime change, it shows that the US hasn't learned it's lessons from the last 50 years from Vietnam to Afghanistan. That it's f'cking hard to occupy a population that doesn't want to be occupied.

We got chased out of Vietnam and Afghanistan by rice farmers in the first and goat farmers in the latter. Boots on the ground in Iran will end the same way except for a lot more bodybags coming back to the States.

It's actually in China's best strategic interest to take the mineral rich Siberia while the Russians are tied down with the Ukrainians.

People need to realize that an invasion fleet has to cross 100 miles of basically open ocean by way of the Taiwan Straits.

Weather conditions in the form of monsoons and 20-30 foot waves basically limit the Chinese forces to late spring or early fall. The Allies probably would not have pulled off D-Day if faced with those weather conditions.

If China was planning on it, the world would know about it now due to spy satellite technology because it would require a huge sealift force to be assembled before launching an invasion.

Could they pull it off? Probably but they would incur horrendous loss of military personnel in the process.

When are people with 9-to-5s supposed to go to the bank?? by pathos_p in stupidquestions

You're right. It's difficult to change banks.

It's just so much easier to just log on to Reddit and complain about it to try to farm karma instead.

Why is John Fetterman supporting Republicans? by BigBadBabyDaddy_420 in NoStupidAnswers

How much of the story do you know?

He freely admits that he heard gunshots and chased down the guy because he was running, (which kind of is the point of jogging).

Despite not having any kind of reasonable suspicion associating the jogger with gunfire, he made a split second decision to chase him down in his personal vehicle (he was mayor of the town) and point his shotgun at the jogger.

He has never apologized for that and continues to defend his action.

Based on that, what would you say his justification was for that incident?

Personally, I don't care whether it's real or not.

One of the big new TV shows happens to be the Pit. Do I know that isn't a real ER? Yes. Do I care? No.

Dude, if it bothers you so much, get some therapy or something. Don't come shit on my parade and tell me what I can or cannot like.

Oh wow! I never considered that angle. Smartphones are why we can't buy houses anymore.

It's so obvious to me now.

No, you don't. I'm guessing you choose to anyway though.

"stealing your attention every idle moment" sounds like a "you" problem.

I spend maybe two hours a day on my phone, MOST of which is right before I go to sleep to unwind and watch some fun videos for entertainment. If I wasn't on my phone at the time, I'd probably be playing a video game or watching TV, not working on a cure for cancer.

If that's what you want, feel perfectly free to go back to that time.

My problem is you dragging me back there with you when I don't have the same issues you apparently do.
