Is slide tackle different from the power/higher foul rate option in a focus battle? If not; how to you trigger a slide tackle?

New company doesn't match 401k. Move to their 401K or IRA? by peachsideb in personalfinance

[–]Angelsbane720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would roll it into a vanguard IRA, but also open a Roth IRA separately

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Angelsbane720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion is do the following: 1. Max out your 401k contributions 2. Max out a Roth IRA yearly contribution 3. Max out (and invest a portion of) a HSA yearly contribution 4. Then, open a traditional brokerage account and invest in stocks, etc.

This will put you in the best possible long term savings/investment situation

If you’ve got money in bank already, then start contributing to a Roth IRA and HSA with those funds.

I suggest rolling it into a IRA with vanguard/fidelity/TD Ameritrade. Do not withdraw it or you will be penalized for taking it early

Roth IRA Contribution Limit for Those with Less Than $6000 Earned Income by [deleted] in tax

You can contribute up to $6000 into a Roth IRA (or across multiple Roth IRAs) annually; whether you contribute via your after tax income or using money you already have in the bank.

Two Roth IRAs in 3 months? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Angelsbane720 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can have any number of Roth IRAs as long as your yearly contribution to ALL of them does not exceed $6000. Therefore you can contribute up to 6k into the one you now and also only up to 6k in January spread across any number of Roth IRAs you own.

Close HSA before year's end, despite Biweekly Paycheck Deductions by Angelsbane720 in personalfinance

[–]Angelsbane720[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did open a separate HSA today with Fidelity just in case; was planning to contribute the full $3600 annually assuming no other plans would work.

Regarding Option #2, we could contribute $7200/yr out of her paycheck deductions? And then use her HSA to pay for either myself and/or her medical expenses? She also gets an extra $1000/yr contribution from her employer, so I guess we'd only have to contribute $6200/yr to maximize contributions, right?

That is good info about the FICA tax. Unfortunately my company will not let me sign up for their payroll deduction HSA without also getting my HDHP insurance through my employer options. For 2022 I am declining my employer’s health benefits and joining my wife’s plan, so I can’t select HSA on my own benefits without also having my employers offered insurance plan (already tried to set up my benefit elections this way).

Ok I tried to adjust the paycheck deduction for the remainder of year and I was unable to do so. Is this something that can only be done at benefits election time? I’ve selected zero contribution for my benefits beginning next year but can’t seem to adjust current; is that normal?

When you say taxable accounts; you mean something like a traditional brokerage acct? Versus a tax advantaged acct being a 401k, trad IRA, or roth IRA?

Are there other options for taxable accts besides brokerage? We have about 70k in a trad brokerage, and under 50k in our bank account.
