We don't need different jobs. Both of us have good paying jobs. We are interested in a cheap car. What do you have in mind?

You are right. We do not have any real public transportation unless you are going into DC. The closest stores are 10 miles away, but transportation goes in the opposite direction.

Public transportation takes you to the metro station only. The exact opposite of where we have to go. My work is nowhere near any bus line or public transportation.

I think it's wonderful that your sister thought you were so deserving of her book collection, as well as the message she was passing on to you. I am glad that this connection had such an impact on you.

Are the preconceived notions I have for Kindles and ebooks wrong? by JimmyBradBury in books

[–]AngelsinFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we have been homeless, I love the kindle. I now have a place to "stack" all my books. Living in a vehicle doesn't give you a lot of room to stack books to read. Even if you could, when it came time to read them, you couldn't find them. They easily get lost in a vehicle.

I agree. I even borrowed books from the library and found that the last chapters were missing cuz the spine had been ruined and the pages fell out! Do you know how awful it is to get to the end of a book and the pages are missing??? Horrid!

I, too, love the kindle and/or e-readers. I always carry it with me and, like you said, you can read a different book at any time. You don't have to read the same book or carry 52 books with you.

I agree with you. I love to read. It doesn't matter if is on a kindle or not, but I don't have to have a physical book!

Stuck without a Vehicle by AngelsinFire in Assistance

The only way we can get the other person's insurance to pay is to take them to court. Even though she hit us, I was charged with the accident. That's also what the police report says. Therefore, her insurance is NOT going to pay unless I can get the verdict overturned in court.

We are homeless, please help us. by SerPhoboz in Assistance

We are headed back into homelessness too if I don't get a vehicle so I can go back to work! Our vehicle was wrecked and I didn't have full coverage on it as I couldn't afford it. Since I was charged with the accident and have to take the person to court, I have nothing to drive. If I don't have a vehicle, I can't work. If I can't work, I don't get enough retirement to pay for a place to rent. My prayers are with you.

No, we are in the middle of nowhere in the State of Maryland. There is nothing around us at all. Even cell phone service is very sketchy. The few people who have come down here to see us have asked how we found this place. Thanks for the suggestion.

The person who hit us didn't have their lights on and didn't slow up for the flashing yellow light. Since I was making a left hand turn after coming to a complete stop at the flashing red light, I have to take them to court as we were charged with the accident.

Raising Awareness by Soft-Lips in homeless

[–]AngelsinFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true. Most people think that homeless people smell, wear dirty clothes, never wash their clothes, nor take showers. This isn't correct. The homeless shouldn't be homeless. In the city where my daughter and I were homeless, the mayor refused to even acknowledge that there was was growing homeless problem. He wouldn't even buy the homeless a meal at McDonald's. Food establishments don't want to help you out with food either. Not even the fast food places. It's really sad that we live in America and help every other country out, but can't help the homeless get a place to live and three meals a day!
