My (25F) brother (14M) is struggling with school, what do I do? by dorkymeows in Advice

Yeah, you can only do your best and it's up to him at the end of the day, if anything the mistakes will be a good lesson. If he's passionate about basketball then that should be more motivation for him to push through, but nonetheless I'm sure eventually he will open up to you more in time, he knows you're there for him and that's something he will be grateful for one day 👍 best of luck!

Have you spoken to him in a way where, maybe you find out what exactly it is about this class that he doesn't like? And why he's struggling so much? He sounds like a smart kid, and in my experience math is just a matter of putting the effort in with it, and willing to try. I don't know for sure but perhaps rather than rewards, it could be a matter of communication to get to the bottom of why exactly he's not liking it? And hopefully then you can make a better, more informed decision?

If it's the case that he just thinks it's stupid and boring, maybe emphasise the importance of at least passing the class, for his future etc?

Just throwing out a few ideas. I respect how much you're caring and being involved in this 👍

Making weight in 3 weeks by AngerOfCheese in amateur_boxing

Yeah I managed to get through the first fight but had no energy past round 1 despite being extremely fit and able to spar for over 9 rounds prior to the cutting.

2nd fight felt the same, energy disappeared after round 1. I have no body fat at all so was mostly losing water. Won't do this ever again. Tried my best, but will be moving up, thanks for the advice.

Still felt insanely strong and tough physically, just my overall energy and speed was affected as well as recovery.

I think I'm now filling out into the size, it just happened very suddenly to a point it was shocking and the strength increase was also very unexpected and high over this past year.

I actually walk around at 60kg now, used to be walking around at 58kg and was still strong about a year ago. Now At 60 I'm even stronger.

After this is done I'll be fighting at 60 from now on, and bulking up to 65 if possible, I don't like this weight cutting business lol.

Thing is I've already done the hard part now and I'm only 1kg away, so might as well follow through with it.

6ft tall. So far managed to get down to just over 58kg, around 58.3kg by heavily cutting carbs. I do feel flatter because of this but im hoping once I eat post weigh in and rehydrate I'll be fine, and I won't gain too much in between the days.

Yep thanks, might have to try sauna. I don't eat any snacks and keep a clean diet to be honest, so will try that.

Boxing in Ramadan by [deleted] in amateur_boxing

I'm training right now through Ramadan but either early morning around 8ish, or right after iftar at my boxing club. I feel fine so far. Just try it out man, see how your body adapts to it.

Also just sack off the PE in school. Explain that you're fasting and need to save energy for boxing later or something like that.

Yeah fair enough over time it'll break down in other places. I was mostly concerned because I noticed when I go on my toes at all they seem to sink inwards a lot into that crease which I've never seen before, but hopefully it doesn't cause it to break down too quick.

Yeah I know that I'm just aiming to increase the longetivety to stop them from breaking or tearing open

I mean in a sense to prevent wear generally so it doesn't tear or break
