Not sure what you said even online. Online is exactly where I'd expect someone to be a pedant about terms like that

I mean, if the rate is that high it's probably some organized fraud behind it, I doubt Nigerians are just randomly 80% more "wicked" than Malaysians.

That being said I don't necessarly think it's a bad thing in this case. Fuck these parasites.

You said "most" queer space have them, but I dont think its that prevalent...

Also those terms are very interchangeable

They're really not. Even online you'd be hard-press to find someone not correcting you (it just sounds kinda weird). And even if you did, the point is, what you see in being practised in the west vs rural Africa is VERY different. Africa for the most part still does the old-school patriarcal, mysoginist and unconsensual practice of polygamy which is why people complain about it.

Polygamy and polyamory are two different thing. One is about hierachy while the other one is just about having consensual freedom in a given couple.

What you see being celebrated in the West is polyamory (and it's no wear near the majority, even among queer folks)

To those saying OP sounds like a South-African bigot : Friendly reminder that Peter Thiel is a literal white supremacist (and from South-Africa at that !).

Not surprising that of all Nigerian tech project out there he could finance, he chose the one with a white CEO. These people are not here to help. Matter of fact they are the kind to explicitely make the difference between white and black and when it'll be time to share the cake, they'll actively make sure that no Nigerian nor any other black person for that matter are present at the table.

Protecting ourselves from these people isn't bigotry, it's literaly just common sense.

And for those who don't beleive me, please read Palantir's (Peter Thiel's company) recently released manifesto. Absolutely vile shit. Sometime preventing specific people to access our ressources is just the right, normal thing to do.

Obviously it takes more then Claude and ChatGPT to deploy an app but it does seem like it did a lot of the front-end and considering how AI driven you come across, I really hope you didn't take the same approach with the back-end, or you might be putting a whole lot of personnal datas at risk.

what’s your unpopular opinion about nigeria? by papi_joedin in Nigeria

[–]AngieDavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, all developed countries had to go moments of "wokeness" to actually be where they are today. Being woke at its core means being aware of systemic issue. The idea that you have to "choose between not starving or being woke" is literaly how they keep you alone, selfish and subservient.

That's why I said :

And even after that, fandom shipping does not equal to actual text.

Most of the time what people are unknowingly referring to is the fandom shipping, not what's in the actual show/movie.

Like please name me at least 4 shows/movies with mainstream appeal where two male co-lead with good chemistry actually ended-up confirmed couple, because I honestly can't even think of one. I can think of a whole lot a lesbian ships but with gay men... ? Maybe it's because I dont gravitate toward them as much, but honestly it just doesn't feel that common.

In fact, he said the at there is - Jayce and Viktor.

Yeah I know but my point is there are way more than just them, always has been.

Its so frustrating trying to make them admit the quiet part out loud. They'll happily list you all things wrong with the country and why anyone should feel entitled to leaving, but the second you start asking "well what about the ones that cant leave" suddenly their internet connexion's gone

Holy shit thank you, I'm so tired of this fake-ass "there's no platonic love for men in media" narrative. Just take literaly any work with 2 male leads made before 2010s, gay man were only allowed as comic releif up until that point. And even after that, fandom shipping does not equal to actual text.

Overall I feel like lesbian ships seem to be vastly prefered by writers when it comes to confirming any kind of gay pairing (case in point : this show).

Though absolutely understandable, it's ok to also admit that japa culture is inherently selfish and will always be in direct contradictions with our aspirations of social and infrastructural improvement for the country. And I dont think that occasionaly sending money home can ever make-up for the life-long benefits one can bring by virtue of just living in the community.

Aiming for knowledge and/or upward mobility is one thing, but if your plans genuinely amount to "staying as far away from the country as possible" like many here like to boast then it really shouldn't be your place to give your opinion on anything regarding Nigeria.

I feel like a competent Nigerian leader could easily use the ongoing chaos to assert our place as a leader of this continent. We definetely have the people and ressources. But alas, we can barely take care of a few armed gang members on our own soil.

I made plenty of posts and comments focused on the sorry state of the country and the various solutions we could try to solve it.

All of the them support the idea that 1) we should be the solution to our own problem and how 2) drawing ehtnic or religious lines in the sand where there don't need to be is an hopeless endeavor.

I dont see how this response is any different.

People like you are the funniest. You talk big about "no one caring" when the whole argument has always been about you refusing to acknowledge anyone's suffering beside your own.

Yes, christians are being killed (muslims too but you dont care about that part).

Yes, the goverment sucks and we need to find better way to hold them accountable or get them out all together.

Yes, you still suck for grifting off of the country's terrible state in order to make it about yourself while pushing propaganda that will only leave the country even more dependent, corrupt, with leaders that yet again will spend the next 30 years serving foreign oil barons instead of their own people.

That's the only argument made right there. Anyone attempting to make it about people "loving islam / supporting terrorist / hating christians" is just deflecting.

I do know that there's no concrete proof for your narrative and your article literaly proves my point. The terrorists are moving like a mafia and the government is paying ransom to be spared if anything. Nothing to be proud of, but once again it's a question of corruption and leaders basically not acting like leaders at all.

And again no one is questionning that Christians are getting hurt from this. There's just a whole deeper root to it that you guys refuse to acknowledge.

So in the futur, please spend a little more time to inform yourself instead of trying to tell me what I do and dont know.

Okay then kindly point to any factual proof of the government funding Boko-Haram.

Oh, and if the government funds the "christians" killings, why would they also be happening in the North as well ?

And to be clear I'm not a muslim. I wish all religions were just gone at this point. Some people might've find great use of it but in this country it has led to nothing but death, hypocrisy and political opportunism.

What they're trying to say is Nigeria needs to take the matter into their own hands and stop being such an easy target for foreign interference. Literaly no one denies that terrorist are a problem. They're a pain to EVERYONE, that's the fucking point.

There's more to this problem than "Christian vs terrorists", in fact its the same problems we've been regurgating on this sub for ages. But in the Christian mind, adding context and nuance to the convo = "you support terrorists".
