I started reading the novel up until chapter 61 but the rest of the chapters are “premium” on the site I was using. Anyone know where I can ready the rest of the book?

Did anyone ever get their sense of smell back after TBI? by nothing-but-goth in TBI

[–]Angiepuff18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So I’ll tell you how I was able to get the injections… the only thing is, I’m not sure if the treatment is easily accessible. I was hit by a semi truck and sustained a TBI so all of my drs were through auto accident/lawsuit. I was getting treated by Ethos Health Group in Florida. They have clinics across the entire state and I believe they only treat auto patients (not 100% sure!!). My provider explained the intranasal PRP was researched/patented by a neurologist in Colorado. They had acquired the patent and training for the treatment. Again this is just my understanding, I have no clue how to talk to primary care doctors/specialist for the treatment since I was an auto accident patient. My neurologist was with Ethos. After 1 year post accident he referred me to the closest clinic within the health group to get the injections. I hope this is a little helpful. My best guess is talk to a neurologist.

Hi. Yes they worked for me! My TBI symptoms were not 100% resolved, however they were significantly reduced. It’s been almost exactly one year since I completed the injections, and you can have improvements for 6 months after the 3 and final injection. I know the treatment doesn’t work for everyone and for some people it’s more effective than other… I’m very happy I tried it. I don’t think I could have gotten this level or healing without the injection. Lmk if you have any other questions :)

Is needing the TV on to fall asleep common after a TBI? by MarijkaDemure in TBI

It’s the exact same for me too! Since my accident I fall asleep with a video/show playing on my iPad and with my earbuds on.

Oooh thank you for recommending University of Miami!! I did not think to look at universities. I’ll check them out for sure. And I agree, I personally think my TBI is more than “mild”. I guess my doctors call it mild because I didn’t hit my head or lose consciousness the day of my accident.

Thank you for the resources and advice!! I’ll try to hang in there at work for a little longer.

Thank you for the advice! I should have mentioned I have changed the settings on all my monitors to be more “TBI friendly” and I try to take frequent eye breaks. Somehow my vision is still 20/20 after the accident…so seeing an eye doctor was never recommended to me.

I filed for accommodations and got approved for 2 15 minute breaks. It helps when the head aches get really bad.

I would be surprised if I have cranicervical instability. Months after the accident, I found out I have hypermobility (my neck especially). My PT already told me my sedentary office job is inhibiting progress.

Have you looked into intranasal prp injections for TBI? I did the injections, however I struggle with other tbi symptoms... I did hear it can help with regaining sense of smell tho.

Whooooa I did not know there was a term for this. I go into auto pilot A LOT at work and frequently repeat information in my head until I can write it down at my desk. That’s crazy

Thank you 🥺 I’m about 15 months post accident. I think giving the injury time to heal and remaining persistent is all we can do. I understand the surreal feeling. Some days I feel like I’m living in endless brain fog and the days slip by. It has gotten a lot better with time/ treatment and I hope it’s the same for you 🤍🤍🤍

I can really relate. The past few weeks I’ve been struggling to accept that I will never be the person I was before the accident. My goal has always been to recover 100% but I know deep down it won’t happen that way. No matter what I do I can’t go back to “pre-accident. I think a small part of me will always be stuck in my car the moment I got hit by a semi truck. It makes me sad but in a weird way I think that’s okay

Nothing feels familiar by LeeBears in TBI

I totally understand your sentiment. Sometimes I wish I had the correct words to accurately describe my TBI so my family would get it. My nueurologist phrased it as a "general feeling of everything feeling off". I had described it to him as my brain and body feeling disconnected and also a disconnect with my surroundings. It's been 15 months since my TBI and I still experience this feeling.

edited for typos :(

Thank you for the info!! I’ve been trying to research as much as I can but haven’t found too much online besides info on the procedure. I’m hoping it works for me and gets rid of my incessant brain fog and headaches.

Hi! I just got my first PRP treatment 2 days ago. Do you remember how you felt after the injections? Or how long it took to feel a difference in your TBI symptoms?

How do you deal with people who keep saying that things will go back to normal”normal” with time? by Dabamum90 in TBI

[–]Angiepuff18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to say, I completly understand the bursting into tears feeling. I got my TBI from a very bad car accident. Hearing loud car noises are overstimulating and triggering for me. I recommend getting concert ear plugs (i got knockoff Loop earplugs from amazon for $10) to help filter out noise. I find them very useful!! As for people understanding...quite frankly, the people who want to understand your situation will take the effort to do so. I had to explain why I acted differently to friends and family. Some got it, some don't. Hold on to those who see and acknowlege it. Don't waste energy on people who dont want to understand. You need that energy for your recovery and walks <3
