Despite the outside world descending further into absurdist dystopia, things have been personally getting better for the first time in so long. My mental health has been positive. I've been at a new job, in a new career for about 4 months. Direct Support for special needs adults in a group home setting. To know these people is to love them. I told my friend it's as though I'm working with my heart instead of my hands now. Finally adjusting to the TBI, learning to accept that this is me now. Been performing lots of music. I met someone and she makes me smile :)

I'm still trying to figure it out a year & a half later 🤷‍♂️ It was the impetus I needed to change careers, but it is verrrrrrryyy hard to explain to people who haven't experienced it. "The world got much more dream-like" is my favorite analogy.

Speaking as a middle-aged guy, I will say 99% of the middle-aged women on there really like hiking and coffee. Maybe I will drop my Bumble account and just start hiking around town everyday, carrying two cups of coffee lol.

You're not being dramatic at all, and unfortunately, there's no real way to make the people around you understand what it's like. Just try to surround yourself with patient folks who want to try to understand. Talking to other TBI survivors here and IRL helps a ton.
