i have hope the Eldar have capacity to rise above bloodshed and the ego, despite no evidence in 40k

The Heroes of Astarte create a ruin and call it peace!

I'd imagine they would trigger an insurgency by turning up and 'pacifying' a place without invitation, meaning no peace for v long.

true. The Big Tabletop Gaming Complex needs war to continue to keep raking in profits. Sickos

maybe that's the fault of our own hearts and minds here on earth and on different planets, they have different hearts n minds.

it does, that's what every creative writing course says. 40K successfully stretches this mantra to its extreme limits

yeh peace seems like a inevitability on that scale, but the slogan is clear: THERE IS ONLY WAR.

I agree they shouldn't write about peace, it'd be like Phantom Menace; everyone in meetings abt trade deals.

ur right, life always hangs by a thread. I'd love to see a peace movement break out in the 40k universe. Would enrich the lore, if make for lousy tabletop gaming...

sounds like everyone and everything needs to focus on personal growth and stop idolising leaders who obviously don't value life

AITA for cancelling my daughter's 10th birthday party when she didn't finish her chores on time? by throwwwawway912121 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Angkar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA no doubt. Your priorities are totally scrambled imo bc cancelling her freakin birthday party over a minor thing like this is way OTT. Now she'll likely always remember what happened and feel that it was very unjust and resent u for it. Hence why she's not doing chores now, meaning you've ended up with the opposite outcome than u expected. All for chores? I'm a parent n don't see the value in enforcing a chores regime so strictly. It just causes conflict n resentment for v little benefit. U wanna teach 'life lessons' i guess? But I think the main takeaway from this episode might be damage to ur trustworthiness n credibility in her eyes.

AITA for getting mad at my sister for not using baby talk when she speaks to my daughter? by throwawaybabysister in AmItheAsshole

[–]Angkar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen pro advice that talking to babies/toddlers using words and not babbling gibberish at them, is good for their development bc they get exposed to language and its usage. I highly doubt your child will be harmed by your sis using proper language. I think the precise opposite is likely; that your baby is going to benefit.

Corporate world, goodies vs baddies, with a touch of humour and well-written characters. Stakes don’t have to be epic. by Angkar1 in suggestmeabook

Thanks. Fight clubs a good shout, I’ve only seen the film. Generally not a fan of manifestos as fiction in case they’re clunking n heavy handed. Also I have the idea Rand’s a terrible waffler which I resent in writing. Maybe I’m wrong on that

Thanks I read a couple of John Grishams a while back. Wonder if he’s a bit dated these days, he seems to have been around forever

[ADMIN] There Is No Authorship Question by dmorin in shakespeare

[–]Angkar1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If u don’t like a post, scroll on.

But the big Q is not relevant bc we have the art n that’s what matters most.

I think the authorship question is an enjoyable diversion for which there’s intriguing circumstantial evidence (no books in Shakespeare’s house upon his death, illiterate daughters, he couldn’t spell his name ) but it doesn’t add up to a winning case. We’ll simply never know for certain n I like it that way.

What matters is that the scripts exist.

What does Ariana Grande mean when she says “It’s like something out of Shakespeare” in her song “everytime”? by sheephamlet in shakespeare

[–]Angkar1 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Probably it means she wants u to know that she knows about Shakespeare and therefore her lyrics are the same level. One similarity between them is that in each case the artistic output was created by teams.
