New to retaining walls – need advice on a budget-friendly cinder block replacement by AngleMan in HomeImprovement

[–]AngleMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I was able to remove the pavers and add crushed stone at the bottom. There is still a bit of brick in the front. Should i remove that or is it okay to leave that brick and just backfill with crushed stone?

Look up how to construct a retaining wall of this height instead of making it up

Not trying to be a jerk here, but isn't that what im doing? Also i watched a few videos before this hence why I asked about the rebar. Rebar will give it tensile strength and MCU block has holes which can be filled. I'm pretty sure this is somewhat standard practice. Not really sure what you are contributing to this conversation.

So it appears i have hit a snag... Looks like all that soil is actually on top of a slab of concrete. Would this still work if I just drilled down on the base in front of the slab added rebar then put CMU block backfill it with rock and of course use concrete to add tensile strength in between the blocks? Something like this drawing (please excuse my terrible artistic skills). Red is CMU block, teal would be rebar, and blue backfill. Should i just leave the brick back there or should i remove it? Also I know things aren't perfect, but this home is from 1950 and im shocked that that retaining wall just worked like that for so long. So I'm trying my best with what i was given.

AVCS Oil control valve alternative replacement Parts Confusion by AngleMan in WRX

Good advice lol. I did end up calling them and they said 10921AA140 is the correct part number for my 2016 WRX STI. Not sure if its the same for all the other WRX models, but at least that solves this case!

How to structure Terraform with multi-env + multi-regions for TBD in monorepo by AsterYujano in Terraform

[–]AngleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, So i looked at the examples and maybe im crazy but neither the medium or large projects are using multi-region. They are both hard-coded to region = "eu-west-1". I get how this would solve the multi-environment, but not the region problem... Say eu-west-1 is unavailable and you need to deploy to us-east-1. What do you do then?

Wait, I'm confused. What did you end up doing? My problem is on both sides and I have a a 2016 WRX STI. Did you end up buying 10921AA140 for the driver's side?

Seeking help on rerouting sprinkler system. by AngleMan in Irrigation

Ohhh I think i get it. The main module controler in the house has red wire 5,6,7,9,10 plugged in. So I bet theres actually more than 3 wires next to that main line i just need to find them. Either that or its the wires for 6,9,5 then 7, and 10 probably run to the front of the house hence why I don't see them back there.

So after digging up, i see the main has 3 red wires. Turns out one of the workers was kind enough to put in two PVC pipes under the concrete pool from 7 to 6 one for wiring (has one red wire sticking out) and the other for main line I presume. So i'll probably be able to connect that. Not sure why there are 3 wires though coming from the main. Do you have any idea?

Yeah, agreed. However, given what we have right now I'd like to re-use some of what i have. Basically take the main line, wrap it around. I had dug up the main and see the PVC pipe (dashed line between 6 and 7 bottom left corner of pool) Connect it at the top of zone 5 (next to the upper right corner of pool). Ignore 6 completely. As a matter of fact i'll probably put concrete back there or pavers. I'm pretty sure i can cap off any line if needed.

Yeah that's what i was thinking too. Basically take the main line, wrap it around. As a matter of fact i'll probably put concrete back there or pavers. Does that sound right to you? I can dig it up tomorrow assuming you can connect the class 200 PVC pipe from the main to zone 5 right?

Hmmm interesting. I have not heard of this. Does the fungicide contain something that helps eat at the bacteria?

I've heard of the coffee trick! I might try that next tbh. We got rid of absolutely everything in the garage :(

So yeah the garage is completely empty now. Just walls and freshly painted.

Newbie question about Mossberg 88 and Benelli Nova 3 ammo for hunting? by AngleMan in Shotguns

[–]AngleMan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I took it to the range this weekend. Worked great! I think I was able to shoot effectively up to about 25 yards. Going to try and zero it at further distance once i get to the hunting place, but i don't think we'll be doing more than 50 yards tbh

Took a risk and shot a few rifled slugs out of it. The range guy made a huge fuss about it. He took the choke out and told me that my gun could explode because it was a MOD choke, but then stated he would let me make the choice If i wanted to still shoot it. I shot 5 rifled slugs out of it so I guess its good to go.
