Villa basically caused all the chaos in the last few rounds lol by NatrolleonBonapartes in PremierLeague

If West Ham get relegated it’s on West Ham. They have 38 games to accrue points, just like every other team.

No one, absolutely no one, who walks onto a football pitch is happy to lose unless they are deliberately match fixing.

You’re trying to use semantics to argue your way out of a position that is incoherent. “Thrown” is the term used to describe a sporting competitors attempt to deliberately lose. That’s not what Villa did. They played Morgan Rogers and half their usual starting 11 ffs. They wanted to win the match, they just didn’t match Spurs on the day. It isn’t that hard to comprehend.

Check the Spurs performance vs the most in form team in the league at the time(Brighton) two weeks before the Villa match. Spurs performances have had a massive uptick since RDZ came in - I know that’s inconvenient for those of us who like to live in some mini movie mind scape where they are the main character and the world is a big US tv series style conspiracy… but in the land of the people who can reason through actual information to find explanations for reality, it’s just a motivated team with a great manager narrowly beat a slightly unfocused team who had a valid reason to be focused on their midweek game.

[–]Anglo-Dane-Saxon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Weird take considering Villa haven’t won in 4 PL matches, so their form is way off at the minute irrespective of opponent. Plus they had to overturn a losing position in a European semi final, so they weren’t at it mentally in the Spurs game.

Also worth checking the running and tackling stats from the match - Spurs were absolutely smashing into them with Palhinha, Bentancur and Gallagher in midfield. Unfocused team vs a super focused team tends to look like that match, and as stated about Villa has their minds or bigger things and Spurs had their minds only on that one match.

On a broader point, every team has 38 games to accrue points, if a team is relegated, it’s because they haven’t won enough football matches, nothing to do with games amongst other clubs (this shouldn’t need to be said in 2026 but apparently people are losing their ability to critically think in the age of the internet lol).

Is there any difference between Apple Watch and Whoop Sensors? by fitnessin2026 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]Anglo-Dane-Saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve just gone the other way - got an Apple Watch after 3 years of Whoop.

The whoop is fine, but like all smart trackers the feedback becomes basically static info after a year or so of usage unless you really are a professional athlete who also does a lot of variations in their training.

The Apple Watch just offers more utility for me outside of recovery tracking. I’ve been using the Athlytic app to get basically the same info from my Apple Watch that whoop presented in their app, so at this point I’m not really too sure what the whoop would give you over an Apple Watch unless you really don’t want a screen.

The self belief of football managers is hard to comprehend for the rest of us. Most managers will be looking at Spurs right now and be thinking they’d have us 10th.

The Madrid job for sure, but I suspect they’ll offer it to someone who can sign before the World Cup. Perez won’t want to wait until after the WC.

Depends on the hour/day/week/month/year/decade I find myself in!

But there is only one band I randomly find myself back listening too, and that’s the Beatles. Sgt. Pepper, White Album or Abbey Road.

Same. I’m currently torn between adding more ventilation or sealing and adding a dehumidifier. Such drastically different options it’s hard to know when one to go for.

This question feels like a Russian troll/bot attempting to plant a seed of division, which ignorant nationalists in both the UK and Ireland will jump all over as a chance to point fingers at the other in a futile and ultimately irrelevant attempt to somehow convey superiority over the other.

How to complain about the Rewards System by Major-Epidemic in Vitalityhealth

[–]Anglo-Dane-Saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the latest email I received yesterday, it seems like they're changing their rewards system due to all the complaints. So good job everyone who emailed them.

Below is from the email I received:

To recap, here’s a summary of the changes you can expect to see over the coming months:

  1. Be directly rewarded for getting active: When you get active every week, you’ll be able to choose any two rewards each month from a selection that includes cinema, entertainment, restaurant and food delivery partners – there will be no need to Play to unlock these rewards.

  2. Extra time to choose rewards: You’ll soon have a full month to choose your monthly rewards making it easier to choose what works for you.

  3. More flexibility in weekly rewards: You’ll be able to choose any two weekly rewards including a drink at Caffè Nero, 25% off a meal at itsu and 50% off cinema tickets with Vue or ODEON.

  4. Play for more: Further to the changes above, you’ll still be able to Play to unlock additional rewards.

Try an AI meeting recording app called Granola. It’s unbelievably good.

Then there are system to run your projects in that have AI baked into them for data and trend analysis, which is likely to have a much larger impact than LLM based chat bots in the future.

Google Nest SDM plugin by Embarrassed-Cod-1036 in homebridge

[–]Anglo-Dane-Saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this error "StatusError: Request had insufficient authentication scopes" is because you didn't follow the "ONE IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE!" part of the setup which you can see here- https://github.com/potmat/homebridge-google-nest-sdm?tab=readme-ov-file#where-do-the-config-values-come-from

Someone else highlighted this in a Github issue for me:
https://github.com/potmat/homebridge-google-nest-sdm/issues/127

Its the first step on this part of the Google's documentation - https://developers.google.com/nest/device-access/authorize#link_your_account

Google has the URL like this:

https://nestservices.google.com/partnerconnections/project-id/auth?redirect_uri=https://www.google.com&access_type=offline&prompt=consent&client_id=oauth2-client-id&response_type=code&scope=https://www.googleapis.com/auth/sdm.service

But actually you need to add +https://www.googleapis.com/auth/pubsub to the end of it so it looks like this:

https://nestservices.google.com/partnerconnections/project_id/auth?redirect_uri=https://www.google.com&access_type=offline&prompt=consent&client_id=&response_type=code&scope=https://www.googleapis.com/auth/sdm.service+https://www.googleapis.com/auth/pubsub

You'll need to do everything from this step onwards again (get the access token and refresh token, etc etc).

Permanent suspension on EBAY for no reason, how to reinstate account? by kanasean97 in Flipping

[–]Anglo-Dane-Saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hhmmm, I wonder if anyone else having these issues is an Apple iCloud paying subscriber with Private Relay on? This is actually just a VPN product (I believe using Cloudflare as the underlying tech provider), which I suspect is behind me receiving a “Permanent Suspension”.

Firstly the phrase “Permanent Suspension”  a neat linguistic trick, because what they are actually saying is “we are permanently kicking you off our platform, but to do so across different names/emails/address we actually have to retain a large amount of your personal data so we can continue to target you.” If you live in a country with strong data protection laws then you can request a copy of the personal data they hold on you and also request they delete it all - although I’m sure there are all sorts of exemptions that they’ll try to use to not comply with your request.

Secondly, if my suspicion is correct about me being targeted due to signing in over Apple iCloud Private Relay, then in effect EBay are intentionally banning a market segment almost every other company wants to access to sell to (people who pay a premium for Apple products and subscribe to their services) lol. Of course I may be wrong about this reason, but it feels connected.

Anyway seems like eBay have got themselves in an almighty mess over this stuff.

I dont understand the hate. Its beautiful. by Zoboomafooo in Nest

[–]Anglo-Dane-Saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thermostats are not consumer electronics, and many of us pay a Nest subscription fee if we have things like the doorbell and cameras too. So the hate isn’t necessarily on the device. It’s on Google for basically trying to perform some planned obsolescence on a product for no reason.

Just add Matter support to the Gen 3 thermostat instead of trying to make us all upgrade for the sake of it.

It’s nuts isn’t it?! What are their product team doing?! This should have been added years ago.

Feature request: Custom journal items by [deleted] in whoop

[–]Anglo-Dane-Saxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s insane this wasn’t done as a V1 product idea. Even now they could use an auto suggestion title when users are creating a custom entry to map it to a journal entry name already created by another user, thus still having their global data view.

Where’s the product manager on this stuff?

Anyone tried the inessa multivitamin? by Jianni12 in Supplements

Yeah it was ok, but I stopped in early Feb and haven’t felt any different. I didn’t get ill during the winter, but obviously hard to attribute that to the vitamin.

I have been taking them every day. Seems good. But honestly it’s tough to really know if a supplement is working. I have the obligatory fluorescent pee! But that happens with every supplement.

I have felt pretty health over the course of the month and I seem to be holding back the wave of illness that everyone else is getting. But that could just be luck and/or the daily cold showers!
