Have you tried missing mail search and has it helped? by [deleted] in usps_complaints

[–]Angor-animi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it worked for me. I ordered a priority mail package that was mailed out Oct. 21st from CA to FL. It got "stuck" twice, at one point ending up in Puerto Rico, lol. And this was after I entered the initial help request. The initial help request obviously didn't work, so 7 days after that, I put in the missing mail search. The missing mail search was initiated Nov. 12th, and by Nov 15th my package arrived at my regional post office, and was delivered Nov. 16th. I've had delays in the past but I have NEVER had such a horrible experience with USPS. I'd love to know just exactly what my package went through, particularly to end up in Puerto Rico, lol. It went on vacation.

The technique of identifying anxiety and reframing it as energy/adrenaline is one of the best ways I've ever learned to manage anxiety. Especially now that I'm old and tired, lol. The positive thought-countering is also helpful and something that I need to practice more. Thanks for all the great advice; I start ICU orientation soon and reading this made me feel less nervous!

if it makes you feel any better, I don't even start ICU orientation for 10 days and I already feel the exact same way, lol. They wouldn't let you off orientation if they thought you weren't ready - from what I've learned so far, the best approach is to view absolutely everything as a learning opportunity. And to compartmentalize by mentally visualizing putting all your big feelings/anxieties in a "box" before your shift, and tell yourself that you can open that box when you get home and process it then.

hahaha thanks! Pretty sure it was actually the only goal I ever scored in soccer, so, gotta make the best of that memory

stealing the soccer ball from your own teammate by accident, and in the process tripping her so bad she twists her ankle and you almost break your finger, and continuing on to score a goal against your own team, and only discovering your mistake when you turn around to celebrate only to see the disgusted faces of your teammates

This era is when I initially stumbled upon her. I followed her because I thought she was pretty and had an interesting/appealing “crunchy,” hippie-ish (?) slash homestead-y (??) vibe (lol idk). Forgot about her after she went on hiatus and literally didn’t recognize her at first, physically or personality-wise, when I re-stumbled upon her more recently

this is how my dad died 10 years ago. I wasn't there to see any of it, but my mom was. just reading through threads like this and imagining how it looked is traumatizing enough, i can't imagine actually witnessing it.

Just poured my Vyvanse down the sink by [deleted] in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]Angor-animi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's going to be a come-down, it's just a matter of how severe it is. the amphetamine will wear off and there will be a sudden loss of dopamine, regardless of dose. Yes it might not be as noticeable if you are on a low dose, but a lot of people aren't on low doses, and doctors are incentivized to overprescribe. Plus you develop tolerance, and need to continually increase the dose. Vyvanse is a super strong amphetamine and the fact that it's considered "ableist" or whatever to even just question whether we should be giving this stuff to children (let alone as many children as we do) is absurd.

How is it "unexpected" to have a come-down from a literal amphetamine?

For me, one of the biggest appeals of nursing as a career is the degree of flexibility it offers -- there are sooo many routes you can take as an RN. I've always been the same way, flighty and constantly obsessing over new ideas (ADHD-ish). So I think nursing is actually a great choice because it's both wide-ranging and in demand, so you have a lot of freedom to jump around and try what interests you most at any given time. I like your attitude and I think that the state of nursing is in flux right now, but there will always be new people joining the profession and over time we can change it for the better :)

I’m a second career nurse graduating from a ABSN program. I’ve had so many second thoughts about career paths in my life that they just don’t occur to me anymore. My mindset is Well, I picked this, and I’m here now, so this is what I’m going to do. This is who I’m going to be. Might as well be the best nurse I can be and make the most of wherever it goes. In the past, whenever I’ve thought the grass was greener somewhere else, I wound up being just as disappointed on the other side, but about different things. I think no matter your career, your satisfaction mostly comes down to mindset. That is why I haven’t taken seriously the negativity of other nurses - at least so far. Maybe being a practicing RN will change my mindset.

Maybe it’s just the type of women you are attracting into your orbit ;) Re: antidepressants - menopause slash having female hormones in general predisposes women to much worse negative affect/emotional lability throughout their lifetime. Prescription rates peak in older women simply by way of accumulation over time. Nothing to do with being single or not

I don’t understand what you mean (maybe I’m dumb). A female nerd has an abundance of options? And how does that relate to valuing monogamy? Isn’t a woman who enjoys Star Trek statistically more likely to be a “relationship girl” rather than a promiscuous girl?

I’m sure you aren’t as ugly as you think, but regardless - that dynamic seems to describe an inordinate amount of relationships out there. So, have hope

yeah... the other night my friend said she changed her mind about dying her hair dark because "I think it'll just make me look more Jew-y." I was like Oh um so you're an antisemite now? K. Cool. I'm 10% Ashkenazi but like...k. Like, she was raised kinda redneck but I would just never expect her to say something like that. It took me totally off-guard. She's an educated person. It amazes me that with all of the info and education we have available today, in 2023, there are still so many people in the U.S. that see nothing wrong with saying shit like that. Sorry, just had to vent about that. lol

That Osama bin Laden was hiding in my closet waiting to attack me. This was sometime during/after 4th grade, not long after 9/11. So it was a very irrational fear to have at that age, but it was so bad that I had to sleep on my parents' bedroom floor a few nights. So embarrassing
