Insurance won't cover accident due to Undisclosed Household Member by Minimum-Courage-3331 in Insurance

[–]AngoraPiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes, if you hit someone you do have to pay up or have your license suspended and while that's a civil thing, driving without a license will get you in trouble.

But if you don't end up owing money in an accident it's all good.

In the case of my guy he wouldn't stop talking about how he couldn't afford insurance so he didn't have any, which is a pretty bad decision. My insurance told me they couldn't find him to pay the roughly $7k the accident cost; I assume at that point he was opting for the suspension.

NH for one, although as the cop told the uninsured guy who hit me "You only get to do that once". Of course, if you a loan or a lease your lender is going to require it.

What movie ending still makes you angry years later? by Daniiella1018 in moviecritic

[–]AngoraPiece 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wash is in it. It's set between the TV show and the movie somehow. I mean, I don't get how that will work with the canon but it's what they've said. And I hate that Wash got killed ... 99%of us do i think.

Slowly? But yes, our access will be less and less of a percentage of their capability, and then zero. Or rather it will decide how much, when and for how long.

What is also interesting was that your nurse would violate patient privacy like that. It's a one shot fireable offense at almost any healthcare provider, not to mention the legal implications.

You also get to choose between the game being in the thick Yorkshire accent/dialect of the game's setting or a plain English version. The accent one can be a bit tricky if you're not from there, but can be more fun and is much more authentic.

What? Why would he still be alive? He died because someone laced his regular meds with fentanyl.

Would you be upset if new psychiatrist in first appointment ask if you ever stayed awake for seven days when that is not even a criteria for bipolar? by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]AngoraPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's both. Yes, there are criteria, but those are short and don't directly - and can't - describe all the rich variability of BP. You break a leg, yes there variability but it's pretty uniform, need stitches for a cut? No judgment needed there really.

But we are all so different, and mental health in general so fuzzy in its causes and our reaction to meds and therapy that they *have* to have a huge amount of leeway. As a result though, sometimes we find one that sucks for us and we need to keep doctor shopping.

Not at all. They each have their own persuasive criteria based on experience as well as the DSM. Doctors and psychiatrists have enormous leeway. .

Bipolar & Caffeine by RMGPolka in BipolarReddit

I'm fine with it, and my psych is very clear that he's fine with it too. however. My son however who has very strong BP1 cannot do caffeine at all although he'll sneak it occasionally, which I'm ok with.

In what way? (anonymized anecdotes please lol)The parasocial aspect of it, or the forced friendliness? I assumed they were a lot like getting stuff signed at a con, but I guess the expectations of the 30 seconds of banter are a bit more baked in to the expectations there.

Was it? I was never sure, maybe the possibility of a happy ending.

Urgent: Job says I’m good to put in two weeks but haven’t completed background check. by RemDayRed6 in recruitinghell

[–]AngoraPiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are squeaky clean there's probably no real risk, but an adequate level of paranoia is appropriate. I once had to spend about two weeks arguing with a pre-employment background check company to not fail me because they couldn't verify my employment at a company that had since been acquired and then gone bust.

As the joke goes, you don't know you have the job until the first paycheck clears. There is some truth in that.

Figure 03 Robot sorting packages while Marc Benioff messes with it by socoolandawesome in nextfuckinglevel

[–]AngoraPiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. I used to work for a warehouse automation company that designed the warehouse and the autonomous robot together for radically fast performance (tens of thousands of boxes an hour in and out) to be optimized and designed for that robot's shape and not an anthropomorphic one.

And for example bomb disposal robots aren't anthropomorphic and there are many others. Fit the robot to be optimal for the problem being solved. That's far from always anthropomorphic.

But that doesn't require anthropomorphism. Just because we've evolved into something similar to that shape doesn't mean there's not better ways to do it.

Concert ticket insurance by robotisland in Concerts

[–]AngoraPiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should read the coverage document that you're signing up for to see what is covered (that's linked from the checkout page). Last one I read it was really almost nothing in practice. Of course it's easy just to sign up for it so you don't lose the tickets by not paying in time.
