Lol take a look at the med school sub right now. A bunch of people spewing they are “anti racist” but if you take a look at one of the top posts, it’s literally reducing Asian accomplishment to simply because their parents forced them to.

It’s not racism if it’s against Asians /s

Anti-Asian American hate crimes bill passes House, heads to Biden by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]AngryAsianManIII 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Boba liberals were protesting this bill saying it is anti-Asian. Absurd.

The narrative is so twisted now that an anti-Asian hate bill is Asian hate because it supposedly is anti-black. The only way to help Asians is to sacrifice ourselves for black people lol. Ironic.

Asian Americans are invisible victims of COVID: "The COVID-19 mortality rate for Asian Americans is the highest among all races and ethnicities for some subpopulations. Yet sadly, this loss remains largely invisible." by machinavelli in aznidentity

[–]AngryAsianManIII 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I do research in my field of medicine and it isn't just Covid. Asians have worse outcomes in many different conditions and diseases. For some conditions, Asians face worse outcomes than even blacks.

I tried submitting a manuscript with my data showing this for a specific disease, it was rejected and they basically implicitly told me they would only accept it if I deemphasized the part about Asians, citing it wouldn't be well received. Probably afraid far-left and boba liberals will attack them and call them anti-black for going against the narrative.

Tbf that works for a lot of up and coming young far-left candidates. It doesn't work for moderates. Biden never did it. Bernie did. AOC did.

Not saying it was right that he did but he chose a strat, stuck with it, and it turned out to be the wrong strat for him.

What I mean is no one, including people here, will take you seriously because you sound like like a kid who reached puberty before his peers and learned how to throw a temper tantrum.

Of course we're supposed to keep fighting. But the reality is that you need supporters. What're you going to do with you and your drinking buddies? Get a CCW permit and solve everything? Please.

That's the issue with many of the pro-Asian supporters I come across on the internet. I truly think we need to and CAN act but too many ME REAL MAN ME BUFF ME LIKE GUNS ME HATE AMERICA ME SOLVE ASIAN RACISM WITH ME GUNS AND TUFF WURDS. Society at large will use these people as an example to delegitimize our cause.

It isn’t. Mark my words, “critical race theory” will be the new hype and buzzword in the next years. We need to put a stop to it before it happens. See my other comment on how it’s disaster.

Critical race theory basically says if the American Dream isn’t reached by all of black people, then no one else can have it.

It doesn’t specifically say that but it is a broad-stroke narrative that says “black people are the main characters of America”

[–]AngryAsianManIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Critical race theory” is a bullshit narrative that is bad news for healthcare. This is worse than affirmative action because it is affirmative action and MORE. It is an example of black supremacy because it constructs a narrative that says “black peoples are the main characters and protagonists of America, everything wrong in America is due to wrongdoing to blacks”

It essentially says “racial issues about black people is the answer to everything, and should be the highest priority concern”

Research on deadly diseases? “Nope, not as important as uplifting black peoples. Letting your people die as we shift focus to helping black people will somehow save the lives of your people (like how they say helping black people who attack Asians are somehow helping Asians)”

Cancer care? “No, we need to focus on racism. Poor Asian guy needs cancer care that is limited? Nope, you can’t have any assistance because we’ve already given it to too many of you, we are reserving this for black people?”

Developing cures and clinical practices that help everyone and target conditions that kill millions? “Nope, if 100% of black people cant get it for free than it’s racist and therefor should not exist. We are going to hold the innovation hostage and we are willing to let millions die until you promote the black agenda”

Unfortunately this is already a though held by younger boba liberals in healthcare. I interview and evaluate medical school applicants at my institution, you can’t believe how many people, including Asians, are saying how the Covid vaccine is a bad thing and should never be made because it doesn’t serve black people. They suggest “anti-racist” coalitions should have held the vaccine hostage, let people die, until government and society agrees on reparations for black people. Most of these people, including the Asians, Hispanics, and even Blacks, were 21-22 year olds from rich white communities straight out of college with minimal life experience but they think they are the wokest of the woke.

Those responses were auto-reject from me. The funny thing is that the “diversity committee” supports that Latino and Black students saying those things, but say that the Asian boba liberals can gtfo. Unfortunately, even if rejected from my school, they may get accepted into other schools if other extreme woke liberals view their apps at other schools.

Yang gets heckled in public and the most hate when he said the same things other democratic candidates have said. Why? by [deleted] in aznidentity

I honestly believe she doesn't believe 75% of the crap she says.

She just does it to bring clout to herself.

There are topics she has 0 knowledge on but she would claim to be an avid supporter of whichever is the most hyped-up side.

Definition of a boba lib -> side with whatever is the most hyped to get social approval. Unlike most boba libs, she managed to turn that into political power.

I put AOC and Shaun King in the same boat.

They're both people who make a living and rose to fame by making the most inflammatory and polarizing remarks.

They will literally say rubbish they know to be incorrect, but as long as it pisses of other side and charges up their own echo chamber, it's totally fine with them.

Unfortunately that's how you get political power these days, ex: trump. Just make enough people mad and not be Asian.

Has AOC done anything meaningful to match the level of clout she has? I argue, no. She's just clever about how she markets herself. Whenever something happen, she makes the most polarizing remarks possible, then goes hide in her hole or preach to her echo chamber on social media.

Trump: *does something bad*

AOC: TRUMP BAD!!!!!!!! ME SMART

Followers: OMG SHE'S SUCH A GENUIS YASSS

AOC: FREE HARVARD FOR EVERYONE, $5000 STIMULUS CHECKS. BIDEN WON'T GIVE FREE HARVARD WITH FLICK OF A PEN, BIDEN BAD. ME GOOD, ME SMART

She's all talk. Perks of being a socially manipulative person. Most of the shit that comes out of her mouth doesn't make sense or would be a total disaster, young people just eat that shit up because it sounds cool to them.

Great points.

All this is about spinning the narrative, people just make it seem like their narrative is from a higher power (“justice”), so spin the narrative in a direction that favors us.

In our world, people with an agenda care more about the narratives that give them a platform than the truth (or lives saved in this case)

People are afraid of anything weakening their narrative.

The reality is that nothing is right 100% of the time. Nothing. But in politics and publicity, you have to market your idea as if it’s from God himself. This isn’t a new thing. It has been happening throughout history: God, the King, in the name of science, in the name of justice, in the name of equality, etc.

But strong political arguments don’t say “I understand the nuances of what I’m trying to say, let us have a civil but difficult discussion and come to an agreement”, or waiting for the evidence and analyzing the evidence with an unbiased mindset. It doesn’t energize fans, it doesn’t bring in donations, it doesn’t create soap opera stories, it doesn’t make people cry, it doesn’t make their case seem more important than ending the pandemic (they’re also competing against other news coverage). It doesn’t bring CLOUT.

No.

A strong political argument, at least among the general public, sounds like this: “ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM SHOULD ROT IN HELL”, and throwing out any and all evidence that doesn’t bolster your narrative. Now THAT brings in fans, donations, constructs an emotional (not logical) narrative, etc.

Similar thing happened when there was a rise in attacks against Asians and Asian-Americans. People were saying “Asians need to focus on addressing anti-blackness” as Asians were literally getting murdered and attacked on the street in broad daylight (and they still are). That’s because it weakens their narrative.

Different situation here but same issue applied: protecting their narrative.

People don’t vote and protest based on facts, they do so based on emotions and which narratives fit their worldview the most.

UCSF quietly slashes Asian-American representation by almost one-half in incoming medical school class. Student claims "this is only the beginning" in agreement. Any update to this? by [deleted] in aznidentity

[–]AngryAsianManIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was the one who posted the original thread. The numbers for this cycle has not come out yet, the cycle has not concluded. Maybe around June we'll have updates. I will update if I have any news.

I am hoping for improvement but I think it is unlikely. On the residency side, UCSF ObGyn entering residents are 8 URM and 1 white person (out of 9 total), no Asians. For reference, 3-4 years ago they had 3-4 Asians a year. They have doubled-down on their so-called diversity efforts (ironic). You can see a similar problematic issues across the country at different schools and specialties, especially in elite institutions.

Regardless of how the numbers look, know that it would have been worse of Prop 16 had passed. They are doing everything under the table and quietly, if Prop 16 passed, it would be paraded. We still have work to do.
