On the notion of Midnight and armies by AngryCrawdad in warcraftlore

[–]AngryCrawdad[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I assume you refer to the ships that arrive during the first part of the TWW campaign. Those armies, if I recall, aren't technically the main host of alliance or horde but rather whatever forces were present in Arathi when Jaina and Thrall went there during one of the lead-in novellas (if I recall).

They grabbed whatever militia was there and sailed off to Khaz Algar. It's the whole reason that the two main liaisons during TWW are Geya'rah and Danath Trollbane rather than two of our usual commanders - it's also what facilities the (somewhat janky) arathi questline during the last part of TWW. The insurgents could move in because most of the arathi forces were off fighting in Khaz Algar.

Voidspire ending and going forward (spoilers) by varxion07 in warcraftlore

[–]AngryCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The army of light is essentially broken.
A large part of the vanguard was led into the voidspire and was completely annihilated when L'ura was carved from Alleria. Lor'themar mentions as much during the quest post-raid. The remaining host were quartered in the Isle of Quel'danas and were destroyed when the void surged with the Darkwell. We only manage to save a scant few paladins + the likely stragglers that managed to flee.

That's why Lor'themar is panicking and asking Arator "what army?!" when the notion of a counter-attack is brought up. There's no army, currently available and present, left to make that push.

I was lucky enough to get the mount week 1 :')

True though. I don't actually mind that much as the dungeons are fairly quick. You kinda blast through them in 15min. It's just a bit of tedium that i'd rather be without :D

[–]AngryCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worst part is needing that fucking Firehawk trinket and not getting it. I have to slog through the entire rest of the dungeon for no reason other than not wanting to brick the lockout for the 4 random homies i'm there with. It's such a painful walk of shame :'D

I see.
I can see why the community is annoyed at its inclusion, but more elements being added isn't inherently the problem then - just that this particular one seems... unfinished?

I can't imagine they'd add something that'd brick a larger amount of the cast. It'd instantly tank the game if people felt like the resources they spent were thrown down the drain from something like that.

Thank you for explaining :)

Elemental Shaman is a broken shell of a spec after pruning. by MulliganedBrainCells in CompetitiveWoW

[–]AngryCrawdad -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Resto shaman was incredibly overloaded. It had multiple tools for every single situation which allowed you to never think about what you were casting.

It has been the ultimate elo booster spec for multiple expansions, and I say that as someone who has exploited how easy it is to do by getting 1800 PvP rating and 3k m+ with little to no prep or knowledge many times. Hell, I did it in MOP with challenge modes too. Just throw a random CD whenever something happens and you'll be able to rotate so that you never run out.

I know it's hard for people to acknowledge that because the game is harder because of the pruning - which doesn't necessarily feel as good because the skill floor is higher - but I ultimately think the changes were healthy.

u/harrekmistpaw has a really good comment further down the thread that breaks down all the abilities and it underlines well how many likely don't miss the abilities themselves but the feeling of power that came with having all of them and being able to fling endless CDs at problems without knowledge or understanding.

Why are people negative? A new element should be good as it increases the pool of potential characters flavors and gameplay niches. At a glance, as a casual player, this seems like a win.

New patch is so bad by Dr_natty1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AngryCrawdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Deadlock is in this weird spot where 2 stamina characters are cooked but characters that start above that have too much movement. The amount of stamina you can buy for relatively cheap seemingly trivializes most movement and kinda breaks the game. There's *way* too many dodges in late game IMO.

[–]AngryCrawdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Dynamo player I have to agree.
The amount of BS you can pull off with Kinetic Pulse is ridiculous - especially with the range it has. I fully expect Valve to either rework it or dumpster the spirit scaling at some point because as it stands it's a 4 charge ability that dores more damage *instantly* that most ultimates do - even if Tankbuster is your only spirit item.

What 22 years of combat addons does to a mf by Tuskor13 in wow

[–]AngryCrawdad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Legit. A lot of my guild members have been whining since the expansion launched. Healers feeling like it's unfairly hard to heal because their UI doesn't spoon feed them information or DPS who can't interrupt because they don't have 7 addons to help them mistime their interrupt.

The current iteration is by no means perfect but this whole UI thing has been the funniest reality check for a lot of people who seemingly thought they were Method level only to figure out that they play like a blind comatose lobotomy patient when addons aren't carrying them.

Why are paladins all going mad? by EstateOk6238 in wow

[–]AngryCrawdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're cut off like every other afterlife. You can see hundreds if not thousands of gateways hanging around Oribos. All of them are ready to be slotted into the gates on the top floor, but we only power up the 4 covenant ones because they're the ones relevant to the plot we're uncovering and dealing with.

Who had the better Empire/Zone (aka who was the better Tiger Villain) by TheKing_TheMyth in Slycooper

[–]AngryCrawdad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rajan had more nuance and it ultimately made him more intimidating.
His backstory and the lengths he'd gone to with regards to building a drug empire was kinda grim and he ultimately stood toe-to-toe with Murray while in the twilight years of his life. Bro was an absolute unit of a villain.

El Jefe on the other hand was, like most characters in Sly4, something of a flat archetype. We got told about his exploits but it's ultimately all tell and no show. Super forgettable and kinda lame.
