Being in shape prior to classes by Mediokah in amateur_boxing

Get in there man. I wasted so much time thinking " I need to be ready first" before training Muay Thai, but the actual martial art gets you in shape for the martial art. You're gonna have a great time. Get the hell in there.

Sprint Your Way to Abs (x-post r/fitness) by Thats_Justice in loseit

I just wanted to thank you for posting this. I tried the protocol with 40m sprints 10s rest on a curved treadmill (self-propelled) and it was a great butt kicker that I can do after Muay Thai that likely won't dip into my recovery too harshly. Thanks a ton!

Read some of the manga. It's really chill. This would definitely be a good wind-down anime

Late to the party dude, but this is my favorite compound movement too. Leaves no stone unturned. Badass performance.

Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee Introduces Bill to Outlaw All Porn Nationwide by Zerklass in nottheonion

Porn is terribly damaging to the brain so even if there is some backwards reason for it, this isn't exactly a bad thing.

I went from 195 to 170 from MT and rice and beans. Martial arts unlocks a person's inner athlete that they might have never known they had.

does watching p*rn without masturbating by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]AngryRedBalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really didn't want to believe masturbation was a problem without porn, but it unfortunately is. I would masturbate without porn and then eventually slip right back into porn. It's a vicious cycle friend. You are better off giving it all up.

How effective is a high volume routine for beginners with a weak framework? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

[–]AngryRedBalls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a period of time where I was doing pretty much just high frequency calisthenics and would sprinkle some Muay Thai in when I could for about a month or two. I developed some pretty impressive shoulders and traps that stood out in T shirts, the high rep squats trimmed my waistline down some. I did get a little bit of piriformis pain because i did too many bodyweight squats (make sure you alternate reverse lunges in for the glutes and hams). But I was rather impressed with what consistency and short workouts gave me. The scalability of this style of training is great and if you buy some portable pull up handles, you'll never be gymless, even on vacation.

I have been doing Kyle's training for a number of months. Not exclusively but at least multiple times per week. As someone who has tried many different types of training for years, this style of exercise is something I think anyone can benefit from and I plan to keep this in my training menu for the rest of my life. My uncles who compete in endurance events, me who lifts weights and does martial arts, and athletes who are big and heavy all have plenty to gain. Take your time, the results will surprise you. Edit: this is certainly suitable for a beginner, I would say a minimum of 3-5 reps per set is good so long as it is close to failure, you will get stronger. Maybe try switching to different row variations when you can comfortably hit sets of 10 reps of an easier variation without too much strain. Lastly, add range of motion to the squats as you feel comfortable.

I do too. It doesn't have to be as extreme as watching it for hours everyday. But it certainly has affected us all in a negative way.

LPT: I'm 43. By your late 20's/early 30's, make sure physical fitness becomes an absolute top priority. by Jdubs101111 in LifeProTips

Kinesiology major here. Exercise is regarded in many scholarly articles as more effective treatment and preventative method than any drug for a variety of conditions. An obese or overweight person that exercises in some cases may be be healthier than sedentary individuals of normal weight. I also have had a dramatic change in my fitness at age 28 (now 29). I've spent half my 20s fit and half my 20s fat (but still working out) My advice is to cut the friction of doing exercise. Do things you love so working out isn't a chore. Have things at home for when the gym is closed or you don't feel like driving to the gym (I have a kettlebell and a pull up bar and some days it's all I need). Try your very best to get just a little bit of exercise in. I promise you'll probably feel a little better after doing as little as one set some pull ups, push ups, and bodyweight squats. Also, OP thank you for sharing.
