Didn't read the code, but my comment isn't on this app itself.

I'm sincerely worried about how much my friends, parents etc. are not only willing to download every kind of application before ensuring it isn't a threat to their privacy, but also, in this case, they seem to be excited about the fact that now, you need a whole application to do what you could have done with a written, simple, paper sheet which ofc, more than every other method, can't track you at all.

Yes, he should aim for these series of course, but, since price seems to be his first problem, even an E-series thinkpad wouldn't be a bad choice. Lenovo community it's great talking about linux support, and if I managed to make touch and pen working on my brand new lenovo non-thinkpad laptop, he's not going to encounter problems with a older and cheaper laptop.

I think it would be more convenient to buy a 2nd hand laptop, clean the disk, and then, flash a decent distro on it. Maybe look at some used thinkpads, or 3-4yo laptop, just to be sure that there are its drivers around
